    It has become apparent that physical preparation is essential for success in modern table tennis. No matter how perfect a playerćs technique may be, he/she cannot make it count in competition without ... proper physical preparation.It is a common misconception that adequate physical preparation can be achieved through everyday table tennis practice. Practice on cardio-devices is discussed, followed by an overview of methods of aerobic training. The major hazards in physical preparation are described together with guidelines for their prevention. Finally, a comprehensive list of strain exercises for different sections of musculature is discussed in detail in terms of guidelines for the athlete and personal trainer's assistance.
