In the last forty years the percentage part of older people in a Slovenian population was growing from 9% to 14,6% in the year It is expected to grow on 19% by the year 2020. Concerning the health regions the highest enlarging of an old population by 2010 is anticipated in region Kranj and Ravne na Koroškem, the lowest in Murska Sobota. About 30% of health care was delivered to the elderly. Mortality rates in regions were negatively related to the number of attendance š in general practice or out ofhospital specialist care and positively correlated with hospital discharge rates. Mortality rates due to specific diseases and causes of death are still higher in Slovenia than in developed European countries. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
