    The article deals with some problems and dilemmas of managing the expanding EU on the basis of certain theoretical findings and historical lessons on managing multinational states. The author argues ... that within EU, a rational approach to the question of managing the deepening and expanding EU has only started to gain an importance, in a form of internal, domestic issue. At the same time, it seems that acceding countries are still focusing on integration into EU as an issue of international relations, comprehending EU as a growing economic and political world power.
