    The incidence of allergic diseases has increased in the past few decades, and it is currently estimated that 30 of the population in the developed world hasallergic disease. In the first years of ... life allergic children develop atopic dermatitis and have gastrointestinal problems. This is associated with hypersensibility to food allergens. After age three years children more often develop allergic rhinitis and asthma. Hypersensibility to inhalation allergensdevelops. A good understanding of the immunological and genetic mechanisms in the development of allergic diseases is the foundation for effective treatment and prevention of allergies. Numerous studies have shown that allergic diseases are a consequence of environmental and genetic factors.In the present paper immunological mechanisms and clinical manifestations of allergic diseases are presented.
