  • Pospešen srčni utrip in arterijska hipertenzija = Accelerated heart rate and arterial hypertension
    Dobovišek, Jurij
Accelerated heart rate has not been ascertained as reliable predictor of hypertension in normotensive subjects, but in already existent hypertension itpredicts further increase of blood pressure. ... Accelerated heart rate is acIcnowledged as independent risk factor for cardiovascular events and mortality in apparently healthy individuals and in patients suffering from various cardiovascular morbid conditions including hypertension. Men seem to be more jeopardized than women. The cut off value for increased risk is estimated at approximately 80/miw' to 85/ miw'. After exclusion of other possible causes including drugs the heart rate remains the reflection of the activity of autonomic nervous system. In hypertensive patient the first choicefor lowering the heat rate are beta bloclcers. When of any reason their use is not possible non-dihydropyridine calcium anatgonists or centrally acting sympatholytic drugs represent the second choice. Nowadays, in these patients there are no clinical studies or experience available for the use of ivabradine.
