Background. The aim of this study was to analysed on the basis of anthropometric measurements the composition of human body, to establish the differences between sexes and changes with growth in ... contribution of tissue masses which form body mass. Methods and results. We have used anthropometrical five way fractionation method. Tissue masses are defined anatomicaly. The sum of skin, adipose, muscle, bone and residual mass obtain total body mass. Our research involves cross-sectionaly measured healthy population of 281 male and 297 female adolescents from secondary schools and 325 male and 344 female students (freshmen). The differences between predicted and actual mass are as expected. Differences between sexes are best seen in higher contribution of muscle mass in male and adipose mass in female. Changes with ages coincide with the events in adolescence period. In boys we found the increasing values in muscle mass in all age period and decrease in 16 year old in adipose mass. In girls all tissue masses are increasing till the age of 16. After this year all masses decrease except adipose mass. Conclusions. The analyses shows the differences between sexes and between age groups in body composition. The results could serve us as the basis for future research work and as the basis for comparisons with the results of other researches.
