    The first part of the article presents various viewpoints regarding the right of minorities to close contact with their parent nation (the surpassed views from the past, and the contemporary ... comprehension of international cooperation which gained new zeal after the fall of the bloc division of the world, along with the adoption of new international documents on the protection of ethnic minorities). The second part of the article describes the development of cross-border contacts of the population of Lendava with the neighbouring Hungary, with a special regard to the situation of the Hungarian ethnic minority in Lendava. The final part contains the concrete state of contacts of the people of Lendava with the neighbouring Hungary (frequency of cross-border contacts, stimulation and impediments in establishing cross-border contacts).
