    The discrimination of elderly is a part of our low social development. Elderlypeople are treated with prejudices and social stereotypes, their real wishes, abilities and needs are not tkane into ... account. To all of them we ascribe the same characteristics, emotions, low abilities and even colours. Retirement is a sharp change in everybody's life and people have to be prepared for it (preretirement education). Man is a social being and he/she needs people. The elderly have to learn how they will infuture satisfy their basic psychological and social needs. If not, they are loosing their balance. In information society the man as the value rises again to the top of the values hierarchy. This brings about a better social status for elderly, too. In Slovenia live 457.000 retired people (1998). The third age has a long time span: 30 to 35 years in average. Where did people learn and prepare themselves, how will they live in the last third of their life? How many networks of institutions, organisations and other public possibilities for people in third age exist in our society? Everything is left to random and thecrowd of retired people disappear in the thousands of private addresses. The elderly are in our society socially excluded category of population. The healthy society tends to satisfy the needs of all its members.
