  • Miti, kritike, prednosti in pomanjkljivosti evolucijske psihologije v sociološki perspektivi [Elektronski vir] : magistrsko delo

    In the master's thesis entitled Myths, Criticisms, Advantages and Shortcomings of Evolutionary Psychology from a Sociological Perspective, we depict the field of contemporary Evolutionary Psychology ... and outline the core theses, presumptions, principles and constraints under which the researchers within the field operate. We outline a brief history of the scientific field and clarify the distinction between Evolutionary Psychology and Sociobiology, two separate disciplines that are often embroiled. We then portray some of the field’s key concepts, such as universal human nature and evolutionary adaptations, and illustrate how these concepts are used within the field's framework to describe the origins of human and societal phenomena. The next section of the thesis deals with the fundamental mechanisms of Evolutionary Psychology, whereby we contrast the Standard Social Science Model, the use of which is predominant in contemporary Sociology, with the Integrative Model used by evolutionary psychologists. A larger section is devoted to the concept of modularity of the mind and its conceptual validity. Lastly, we investigate common criticisms of Evolutionary Psychology from a range of academic disciplines and put those under scrutiny, determining which criticisms are valid and which mischaracterize or misinterpret the field's de facto explanatory mechanisms.
