  • The influence of managers on the efficiency of police organisations

    Theoretical part of the contribution is based on the up to the present findings of various authors and discusses the management in the Police, the criteria of the measurement of efficiency of police ... organisations and factors of efficient management of organisations, also the police organisations. The empirical part of the contribution studies the impact of commanders of police stations in the Republic of Slovenia on the efficiency of police stations. It deals with the problem of the relations between personal characteristics of commanders, behavioural factors and situation factors of police stations on one hand and the efficiency of police stations on the other. The following most important findings are presented in the emprical part of the contribution: (1) Highly educated, better materially stimulated and younger commanders are more successful at performing their tasks. (2) Better material working conditions of police stations have positive impact on the efficiency of police stations. (3) Cumulatively, we can explain 56% of the variance in the efficiency od police stations with the impact of personal characteristics of commanders, their behavioural factors and situation factors.
