  • Musical instruments in Psalm 150

    ǂThe ǂauthor dicusses the way ln which the names of different muslcal instruments mentioned in Psalm 150 were translated in different periods and what was meant by single terms. The Psalm mentlons ... seven musical Instruments, namely the horn, the harp, the lyre, the lute, the flute, the cymbals and the drum as well as dancing that is closely connected to the drum. The author follows the development of the concept of each instrument in the Hebrew language of the Masoretic Text, In the Greek language of the Septuagint, and in the Latin language of the Vulgate. Of the numerous Slovenian translations three translations have been chosen that have represented mllestones ln the history of SlovenIan Blble translation, namely Trubar's translation of 1566, which was the first one, Japelj's translation of 1798, which was the first Catholic one, and the recent one, made by Jože Krašovec in 1989.
