  • The Interpleniglacial record in the palaeolithic site of Divje babe I (Slovenia) : some of the more important results of the 1980-1999 excavations
Turk, Ivan, 1946- ; Bastiani, Giuliano
The contribution gives a short overview of the chronostratigraphy and Palaeolithic remains at Divje babe I, which is one of the most important Palaeolithic sites in Slovenia. Some options are ... proposed for chronoclimatic interpretation of clastic cave sediments on the basis of post-sedimentary mechanical-chemical modifications, which can be quantitatively traced in certain components of the sediments. New possibilities of analysis and interpretation of Mousterian stone tools are also shown, which could make a significant contribution to resolving questions about their variability. The idea took shape for the authors in studying a suspected Mousterian flute, the best known find from Divje babe I. The contribution is restricted to Interpleniglacial (OIS 3) sediments.
