    The article depicts the key elements of the translation strategy used in the Polish translation of the monograph Tito in tovariši written by Jože Pirjevec. The most important decision of the two ... translators, which influenced numerous concrete solutions throughout the translation process, was the decision to modify the stylistics of the original. As a whole, the translation uses a different stylistic layer of the Polish literary language compared to its Slovene original; as a result, the target language is stylistically elevated and neutralises the typically emotional tone of its author's discourse. Such a decision was due to the translators' firm belief that the kind of stylistic "transgression", typical for the original, will not be acceptable for the Polish recipient and their high stylistic and poetical expectations of this genre. Such stylistic modification, which the two translators applied in their other translations of humanistic texts in the same language combination, offers a reflection on the normative differences between the Slovene and Polish academic language standards and its two different models of reception of scientific texts.
