  • Differential scanning calorimetry of HDPE jacket pipe for preinsulated piplines
Prek, Matjaž ; Novak, Peter, 1937-
Most of the damage of the preinsulated pipelines is due to the unsatisfactory tightness of a jacket pipe's joints and breaking in of water (humidity) as its consequence. The use of jacket pipe made ... of chemically compatible material (HDPE) and joining by diffusion welding are becoming the most suitable way to achieve the desired tightness. To determine the welding procedure the material characteristics of HDPE must be known and that is why the influence of temperature on its thermal characteristics were measured. The characteristics ascertained in this way enable us to determine the exact temperature range in the process of welding and also to analyse the influence of materials of different quality (HDPE with different MFI index) on this process.
