Although travel influencers (TIs) are viewed as a marketing tool in tourism, little research has been conducted to identify the relationships in the influence mechanism processes. To fill this gap, ...stimulus-organism-response theory has been applied to investigate the effects of TIs on visit intention during the COVID-19 pandemic. Partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data collected from social media users in Turkey. The findings of the study suggest that dimensions of TI affect cognitive response and trust differently, which in turn influences visit intention. Second, the expertise and attractiveness of the indirect effect of content on visit intention have been determined, mediated by cognitive response and trust. Third, COVID-19 fear has been found to moderate the relationship between trust and visit intention. However, confidence in vaccine has not been found to moderate the association between cognitive response with trust, and visit intention. The study helps the tourism industry and influencer agencies to create marketing communication strategies to attract more tourists via social media.
This study attempts to explore behavioral characteristics of international tourists visiting Istanbul in guided tours, and to examine the differences and similarities among tourists of different ...nationalities using data provided by Turkish tour guides. Data were collected utilizing a survey site designed for research for Turkish tour guides working in Istanbul, Turkey. The results suggest that there are three underlying dimensions of tourists’ behavior during guided tours, namely, shopping, activities, and social interaction. Significant differences are observed among seven nationalities. Pair comparisons of the groups belonging to the three dimensions are conducted for the purpose of revealing similarities and differences. The Japanese are found to be the most distinct tourist group in comparison to others. Finally, conclusions and implications are discussed at the end of the study.
Drawing on the Cognitive Response Theory (CRT), this research aimed to examine how travel influencers' (TI) content about volunteer tourism affect their followers' intention to participate in ...volunteer tourism (VT). The informativeness of volunteer tourism activities' (VTA) in TIs' content was evaluated as external information according to the components of the CRT in terms of the intention to participate in volunteer tourism. According to the findings, while VTAs' informativeness in TIs' content positively affects ascribed responsibility, information quality and curiosity, all of the variables were found to have positively affected positive emotion. In addition, there is a serial mediation relationship among all of the research variables.
This study aims to examine how young peoples' participation in a local youth music festival may effect their subjective well-being. In more detail, this study attempts to examine the relations ...between the festival features, the feelings young people develop, social identification and subjective well-being in young people's participation in music festivals. The research was conducted in Eskisehir, Turkey. The sample population consisted of individuals participated in youth music festival EskiFest. The questionnaire forms were randomly handed out at the exit of the festival area to potential respondents and collected back after completion. Consequently, a total of 398 usable questionnaires were included in the analysis. The results confirm that festival characteristics as music quality, places and atmosphere, information and facilities are effective in creating positive emotions and social identity formation which consequently effects subjective well-being of young people. The results of the study will assist to the festival organizers in developing strategies for better quality organization of the festivals and increasing the satisfaction of the young participants by understanding their emotions.
The purpose of the article is to examine spectators' motivations to attend a film festival in the context of demographic characteristics. For this purpose, data were collected utilizing a ...self-administered questionnaire from the 742 audience members who attended the film screenings during the 18th International Eskisehir Film Festival. A structured survey instrument was used for the data collection utilizing multidimensional scaling and correspondence analysis to examine the differences and similarities of the demographic variables in terms of motivations. Findings suggested that International Eskisehir Film Festival participants were mostly young, single, high school graduates and visited the festival with their friends. Motivational factors were grouped under four dimensions, namely novelty, socialization, escape, and togetherness. While motivations of young female participants were found to be high, relatively older, and married people only showed a high motivation for togetherness. The results provide useful information to those responsible for cultural policies and the management of similar events.
Bibliometric methods for assessments quantitative attributes of articles, documents or any other publications are used in tourism field progressively and give tips relevant scientific fields. Aim of ...this study is to reach some findings by examining health tourism articles in Turkish academic journals and ISI Web of Knowledge database with determined variables. For this purpose, 91 articles in Turkish academic journals and 155 articles in ISI Web of Knowledge database called also Web of Science which includes the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) are collected and examine in terms of bibliometrics characteristics. According to findings, academic studies on the subject of health tourism concentrated on especially in the last 7-8 years and most publications centered in 2011 (16.3%). %57.7 of articles covered in the study used the empirical approach and % 42.3 of articles were conceptual papers. Articles mostly published in tourism field (53), geography (44), medicine (32) respectively. As the articles in health tourism field researched, it can be seen that the studies in Turkish mainly centered on geography department under the sub-field of thermal, while articles published in English are centered on field of medicine under the sub-field of medical treatment. The studied articles showed that most of the articles (% 61) tend to have multiple authors. Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkçe akademik dergiler ile ISI Web of Knowledge veritabanındaki dergilerde, 1991-2014 yılları arasında yayımlanan sağlık turizmi konulu makalelerin bibliyometri yöntemine göre incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla, Türkçe akademik dergilerde ulaşılabilen 91 makale ve ISI Web Of Knowledge veritabanından ulaşılabilen 155 makale bibliyometrik özellikleri açısından incelenmiştir. Sağlık turizmi konusuna ilişkin akademik çalışmaların özellikle 2000’li yıllardan sonra yoğunlaştığı, en fazla çalışmanın 2011 yılına (% 16,3) ait olduğu görülmüştür. Makalelerin % 57,7’sinde görgül yaklaşım tercih edilirken % 42,3’ünde kavramsal yaklaşım tercih edilmiştir. En fazla makalenin (53) turizm alanında çalışan yazarlar tarafından yapıldığı bunu coğrafya (44) ve tıp (32) alanındaki yazarların izlediği görülmüştür. Türkçe makalelerin daha çok coğrafya alanında çalışan akademisyenler tarafından “termal” alt başlığı, İngilizce yayımlanan makalelerin ise tıp alanında çalışan akademisyenler tarafından “tıbbi tedavi” alt başlığında yoğunlaştığı görülmüştür. Müzik festivallerinin dünya genelinde giderek artan sıklıkta düzenlenmesi akademik bir ilgiyi hak etmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışma, müzik festivali katılımcılarının katıldıkları festivalin ...program içeriğine ilişkin görüşlerini, festivaldeki sosyalleşmelerini, festivale ilişkin hedonik değerlendirmelerini ve tüm bu unsurların davranışsal niyetler üzerindeki etkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, Eskişehir’deki yerel bir müzik festivalinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini EskiFest’e katılan bireyler oluşturmaktadır. Anket formları festival alanı çıkışında katılımcılara dağıtılmıştır. Toplam 278 kullanılabilir anket analize dâhil edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçları, festival program içeriği ve sosyalleşmenin hedonizm üzerindeki, program içeriği, sosyalleşme ve hedonizmin ise davranışsal niyetler üzerindeki olumlu etkisini doğrulamaktadır. Ayrıca, festival programı ve sosyalleşme ile davranışsal niyetler arasındaki ilişkilerde hedonizmin aracılık rolü bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, müzik festivallerinin katılımcılarının deneyimlerini ve davranışlarını anlamak için önemlidir. Araştırma sonucunda elde bilgilerin festivallerin planlanması ve yönetilmesi süreçlerinde değerli bir rehberlik sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmanın, festival organizatörlerine katılımcıların beklentilerini karşılamak, memnuniyetlerini artırmak ve festivallerin etkin bir şekilde düzenlenmesine yardımcı olabilecek önemli bir katkı sunması beklenmektedir.
Yüksek düzeyde çok kültürlü bir endüstri olan turizmde turist davranışlarındaki benzerlikler ve farklılıklar gün geçtikçe daha önemli hale gelmektedir. Dünya genelinde seyahat eden insan sayısı her ...geçen gün artmakta ve bu gelişim dünya genelindenfarklı kültürleri bir araya getirmektedir. Bu nedenle çok kültürlü bu ortamda faaliyet göstermekte olan turizm pazarlamacıları ve planlamacıları için turist davranışını etkileyen kültür kavramının ve ulusal kültürlerin anlaşılması önem arz etmektedir. Bu olgudan hareketle bu çalışma üç boyutlu bir amaca sahiptir. İlk olarak profesyonel turist rehberlerinin değerlendirmeleriyle farklı uluslardan İstanbul’a gelen ve rehberli turlara katılan turistlerin davranışsal özelliklerinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. İkinci olarak ortaya konan davranışsal özelliklerin alt boyutlarının bulunması ve son olarak da saptanmış faktörler bağlamında uluslar arasındaki farklılıklar ve benzerlikler ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak rehberli turlara katılan turistlerin davranışsal özelliklerini belirleyen üç alt boyut olduğu ve bu boyutlar bağlamında yedi ulus arasında önemli farklılıklar olduğu saptanmıştır. Çalışmanın son bölümünde ise çalışma sonuçları tartışılmış ve yönetsel önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
