The text examines a narrative from Prelože by Lokva that speaks about Kres, god of fire, light, and lightning. However, the lore about the kresnik, or Kresnik, is unknown among the local population.
The paper describes a Slav pagan ritual of fertility, which took place in the rock shelter of Triglavca near Divača (Slovenia). It was being performed by individual families from the village of ...Prelože pri Lokvi until the end of the 1830s. The essential element of the ceremony was the ritual entreaty of either the mythological being deva or the divinity Deva to protect the crop on the fields in the forthcoming year from the evil female demon of mora.
The three rocks above the entrance and the three rock columns some ten metres before the entrance explain why, up until the mid-20th century, the Trhlovca rock shelter was commonly referred to as ...Triglavca (Three-head).
The book 'In the moonlight glow. Outlines of mythic characters in the villages of Lokev and Prelože in the context of Slavic mythology' is a rarity on the European scale in the field of pre-Christian ...beliefs. What makes it so valuable is that it is a first-hand record of these beliefs, as they were told to the author by people close to him, grandmothers, grandfathers and villagers, who preserved their old-faith beliefs and rituals until the last century. The book is therefore an inexhaustible source of old- faith practices, beliefs, sacred places and other folklore traditions in the villages Lokev, Prelože and their immediate neighborhood. As such, it is one of the main sources of study in Slavic mythology, as well as in general and monument to the integration of karst-nature and its people.
