VGF (non-acronymic), belonging to a large granin family, gives rise to a number of bioactive peptides by proteolysis and exert an extensive array of biological effects on energy metabolism, pain ...modulation, gastric secretion function, reproduction, mood regulation, and, diabetes. Among VGF-derived peptides, TLQP-21 (The first four amino acids, in short TLQP (Thr-Leu-Gln-Pro) generalizes the nomenclature of the peptide by its length) is the most studied although little is known yet about downstream molecular mechanisms of action of VGF-derived peptides like TLQP-21. So here as a preliminary analysis, total protein expression was carried out in addition to the phosphoproteomic study of SH-SY5Y cells treated with TLQP-21, using the same cell extracts. Comparison of simple 1D SDS-PAGE gels stained with SYPRO® Ruby protein gel stain was carried out to assess whether changes in protein expression could be seen even at such low separation resolution. Expression of several proteins most likely Microtubule-associated protein 1B (MW 271 kDa), Tubulin beta chain (MW 57), Tubulin beta-4B chain (MW 50), Alpha-2-macroglobulin (MW 163), etc. in TLQP-21 treated and control samples was found significantly different, indicating that the peptide TLQP-21 exerts biological effects on SH-SY5Y cells. Further studies are required to validate the identity of the modulated proteins, obtained from mass spectrometry. Identification of modulated proteins after TLQP-21 treatment would open new avenues to discover the molecular mechanisms of its physiological and pharmacological state. Today, urbanised people spend most of their time in indoor environments, and the risk of exposure to toxic materials in an indoor environment is of great concern. This paper considers sources for the ...inhalation risk of aerosol sprays by measuring the particle size distributions of some of the most popular products that are commercially available in Bangladesh, and examines the degree of toxicity and the health risk via the respirability of the products. Results show that thoracic and respirable fractions of the suspended particulate matter are present in the tested samples and hence the spray products may pose a significant health risk.
Solar energy is one of the important sources of renewable energy which can be a feasible alternative to fossil fuels. There are many works has been done in order to incorporate solar energy to ...everyday transportation including tricycle. However, most of the tricycle develops are expensive and not feasible for developing countries. In this study, a cheaper solar tricycle with more capability of utilizing the solar energy is designed for developing countries. The main content of the tricycle is Solar PV panel, Brushless PMDC motor, controller, and battery. The power transmission of the solar tricycle is also simple. It is found that tricycle serves 24% back up for running, by the solar panel. Also, the total construction cost of the tricycle is only 240$ with near about zero impact on the environment. This paper highlights the advantages of the dual mode of charging, including the economic and environmental feasibility of the tricycle.
Background. Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a benign histiocytic proliferative disorder of unknown etiology. This rare condition commonly causes massive cervical lymphadenopathy. Intracranial RDD ...without any nodal involvement is extremely rare. Case Report. A young Bangladeshi male complained of bilateral complete blindness with left sided deafness for about three years. There was no lymphadenopathy. MRI and CT scan of brain suggested an inflammatory/neoplastic (?meningioma) lesion located at left parasellar region which extended frontally to encircle both optic nerves and also to left prepontine area. Histopathologically the lesion was diagnosed as RDD. The patient was treated with steroid and significant clinical improvement observed. Conclusion. The prognosis of intracranial RDD is not poor. It can be treated with surgery with or without corticosteroids, chemotherapy, and so forth. But as the condition is extremely rare and often misdiagnosed, the clinician, radiologist, and histopathologist should have a suspicion in their mind about the possibility of RDD.

Evidence implicates hyperglycemia induced oxidative stress as a key factor in the pathogenesis of both microvascular and macrovascular complications in the body. Our main objective behind this study ...was to explore the beneficial effect of Caesalpinia bonducella seed kernel extract on Streptozotocin-induced hyperglycaemia and oxidative damage in rats. Rats were made hyperglycemic by single intravenous injection of Streptozotocin 40mg/kg of body weight. Hyperglycemic rats treated with extract in three different doses of 200, 400 and 600 mg/kg of body weight orally for 21 days shows a significant decrease in blood glucose, HbA1c, free amino groups whereas an increase in serum insulin level, liver glycogen contents with a significant improvement in glucose tolerance. Furthermore, above extract supplementation significantly decreases the pancreatic thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances levels along with an increase in superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione contents in pancreatic tissues in treatment groups when compared with control hyperglycemic rats. Treatment with above extract has lessened the severities of degenerative changes in pancreas and also in the liver tissues as compared to that of untreated control rat with hyperglycemia. Our results suggest that the ethanolic extract of Caesalpinia bonducella seed kernel improves the antioxidant defense under hyperglycemic condition and also exhibit strong anti-hyperglycaemic effect in dose dependent manner.

Plastic wastes are growing fast and affecting the environment negatively. Thus, finding different methods of disposing of is becoming a major concern. This research aimed to minimize the plastic by ...recycling it into construction materials. For this, grinding high-density polyethylene (HDPE) was mixed with cement at different percentages to produce plastic bricks. The compressive strength, density, and water absorption capacity were investigated. The compressive strength was found within the recommended value (2000 psi) up to 35% mixture of HDPE. The addition of HDPE with cement decreased the density, increased the ductility, and improved the workability which led to producing lightweight materials.
New insights to understand the dynamics of enormous modifications during cancer in comparison to healthy condition have made the ground for the emergence of sophisticated systemic approaches like ...Network Systems Biology in the twenty first century which is potentially effective to model different biological phenomena such as regulation of gene-expression and protein-protein interaction. In the current study, the construction and computational analysis of protein interaction networks (PINs) based on expression data of proteins involved in 10 major cancer signal transduction pathways were done in case of five different tissues e.g. bone, breast, colon, kidney and liver for both normal and cancer conditions. Differential expression database
GeneHubs-Gepis, and protein-protein interaction prediction tools PIPs and STRING were applied for primary data retrieval. Upregulation and downregulation of proteins in various cancers were analyzed to identify patterns in PINs during cancer signaling. Different network parameters were evaluated and comparisons were made among normal and cancer networks for each tissue and for different cancer based on Cytoscape software package. The networks for cancer show notable differences and fluctuations from normal ones for various network parameters. A cluster of 34 upregulated proteins with 76 relevant interactions was also found to be conserved in all five cancerous tissues.
