The data collected from 254 respondents in China are analyzed via structural equation modeling (SEM).FindingsPerceived information overload directly affects fatigue, frustration and dissatisfaction among social media users, thereby affecting their information avoidance intention. In addition, frustration significantly affects social media fatigue and dissatisfaction. Consequently, social media fatigue influences dissatisfaction among users.Originality/valueThe literature review indicates that social media overload and fatigue yield negative behavioral outcomes, including discontinuance. However, rather than completely abstaining or escaping, social media users adopt moderate strategies, including information avoidance, to cope with overload and fatigue owing to their high dependence on social media. Unfortunately, merely few studies are available on the information avoidance behavior of social media users. Focusing on this line of research, the current study develops a model to investigate the antecedents of information avoidance in social media.

Promoting shared leadership in teams and enhancing team creativity is aided by complementarity between leader and team member characteristics. We integrate insights from social learning ...theory and dominance complementarity perspective with the team leadership and creativity literature to explore the facilitating role of formal participative leadership for enhancing team creativity indirectly by promoting shared leadership. The relationships among formal participative leadership, shared leadership, and team creativity are bounded by team voice behavior and team creative efficacy. To test our theoretical model, we collected multisource and multiwave survey data from 382 members of 73 teams. Results revealed a significant positive relationship of participative leadership with shared leadership in teams, which in turn was positively associated with team creativity. Team voice behavior and team creative efficacy moderated these relationships, respectively, by strengthening the positive relationships. We discuss the theoretical contributions, practical implications, and future directions of our findings.
Dibenzyltoluene (H0-DBT), a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC), presents an attractive solution for hydrogen storage due to its enhanced safety and ability to store hydrogen in a concentrated ...liquid form. The utilization of machine learning proves essential for accurately predicting hydrogen storage classes in H0-DBT across diverse experimental conditions. This study focuses on the classification of hydrogen storage data into three classes, low-class, medium-class and high-class, based on the hydrogen storage capacity values. We introduce Hydrogen Storage Prediction with the Support Vector Machine (HSP-SVM) model to predict the hydrogen storage classes accurately. The performance of the proposed HSP-SVM model was investigated using various techniques, which included 5-Fold Cross Validation (5-FCV), Resubstitution Validation (RV), and Holdout Validation (HV). The accuracy of the HV approach for the low, medium, and high class was 98.5%, 97%, and 98.5%, respectively. The overall accuracy of HV approach reached 97% with a miss clarification rate of 3%, whereas 5-FCV and RV possessed an overall accuracy of 93.9% with a miss clarification rate of 6.1%. The results reveal that the HV approach is optimal for predicting the hydrogen storage classes accurately.
Concrete is weak in tension and fibers are added to it to make it ductile. One of the commonly used methods, for this purpose, is the addition of steel fibers of different geometries. However, ...failure of fiber reinforced concrete is initiated by pulling out of fibers, failing to utilize their full capacity. In this study, closed steel fibers (CSF) are proposed for addition into concrete. The objective was to avoid the pulling out of fibers in tension for full capacity utilization. When CSF are embedded into concrete, they are expected to reach the breaking point, utilizing their maximum capacity due to the presence of concrete matrix within the closed geometry of fibers. Different volumes of straight steel fibers (SSF) and CSF were used to investigate and compare their performance. Fresh and hardened concrete properties were considered. Results indicated decrease in workability of fiber reinforced concrete with increasing steel fiber content. No significant change in concrete compressive strength and modulus of elasticity was noted. There was a maximum of 46% increase in tensile strength while 36% increase in flexural strength of concrete with the use of CSF compared to that of SSF. The failure of concrete in tension was initiated by pulling out of open fibers and breaking of closed fibers. Thus, use of closed steel fibers is recommended to make full use of steel fiber tensile capacities which may revolutionize the field of fiber reinforced concrete.
Traditional synthetic techniques for silver nanoparticles synthesis involve toxic chemicals that are harmful to humans as well as the environment. The green chemistry method for nanoparticle ...synthesis is rapid, eco-friendly, and less toxic as compared to the traditional methods. In the present research, we synthesized silver nanoparticles employing a green chemistry approach from
leaf extract. The optimized parthenium silver nanoparticles (PrSNPs) had a mean particle size of 187.87 ± 4.89 nm with a narrow size distribution of 0.226 ± 0.009 and surface charge -34 ± 3.12 mV, respectively. The physicochemical characterization of optimized SNPs was done by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Moreover, the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis indicates the spherical shape of NPs with an average diameter of 20-25 nm. PrSNPs were investigated for in vitro antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, and showed excellent profiles. The cytotoxic activity was analyzed against two cancer cell lines, i.e., B16F10 and HepG2 for 24 h and 48 h. PrSNPs proved to be an excellent anticancer agent. These PrSNPs were also employed for the treatment of wastewater by monitoring the
count, and it turned out to be reduced by 58%; hence these NPs could be used for disinfecting water. Hence, we can propose that PrSNPs could be a suitable candidate as an antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor agent for the treatment of several ailments.
This study responds to a current phenomenon where individuals experience distress and exhaustion caused by cyberbullying and social overload while using social networking sites (SNSs). Social ...cognitive theory suggests that this phenomenon is caused by the interactive influences of environmental, personal, and behavioral factors, which are key unique drivers of SNS discontinuous usage intentions. This study focuses on how cyberbullying and social overload (environmental) induce distress and SNS exhaustion (personal), thereby affecting an individual’s intention to voluntarily abandon the use of SNSs (behavioral). The purpose model is tested through a sample of 314 SNS users. Empirical results indicate that cyberbullying and social overload exert a considerable impact on distress and SNS exhaustion, both of which further increase users’ intention to discontinue their usage of SNSs. This article concludes with several theoretical and practical contributions, limitations, and future research directions.
This study develops and tests a model based on the conservation of resources theory and presents an underlying mechanism linking social media ostracism with the lurking intentions of social media ...users. The proposed model suggests that emotional exhaustion is a mediating mechanism linking social media ostracism to lurking intentions. In addition, we examine whether or not the psychological resilience of social media users serves as a boundary condition that weakens the effects of social media ostracism on emotional exhaustion. Results of a moderated mediation analysis based on a sample of 363 employees in China support the conceptual model. Empirical findings likewise reveal that social media ostracism positively predicts emotional exhaustion among social media users. In addition, results indicate that emotional exhaustion is a mediating mechanism that links social media ostracism with lurking intentions. Furthermore, we find that psychological resilience plays a moderating role and weakens the positive effect of social media ostracism on emotional exhaustion. Theoretical contributions and practical implications of this study are also presented.
Energy harvesting from piezoelectric materials is quite common and has been studied for the past few decades, but, recently, there have been a lot of new advancements in harnessing electrical energy ...via piezoelectric materials. In this regard, several studies were carried out in electrochemistry and fluid flow. Furthermore, consideration of productive and valuable resources is important to meet the needs of power generation. For this purpose, energy harvesting from fluids such as wind and water is significant and must be implemented on a large scale. So, developing self-powering devices can resolve the problem like that, and piezoelectric materials are gaining interest day by day because these materials help in energy generation. This review paper discusses different techniques for harnessing energy from fluid flows using piezoelectric materials. In addition, various vibration-based energy-harvesting mechanisms for improving the efficiency of piezoelectric energy harvesters have also been investigated and their opportunities and challenges identified.
Social factors play a critical role in motivating player participation and commitment to online multiplayer games. Many popular mobile massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs) adopt social network ...embeddedness (SNE) functions to optimise players' social play experience. SNE changes the traditional pattern of MMOG social play by porting acquaintance relationships (e.g., Facebook friends) from social networking sites to the virtual game world. However, little understanding exists on how SNE impacts mobile MMOG players' game participation results such as play performance and play frequency. Drawing on the affordance framework and social capital literature, this research proposes a theoretical model that integrates the factors of SNE technology affordance (identity transparency and information transparency), players' social experience (social interaction, social support, shared vision, and social pressure), plus affordance effects (play performance and play frequency). The model was validated through a longitudinal field study, in which both subjective and objective data were collected from Game for Peace players. Our findings indicate that identity transparency and information transparency positively correlate with social interaction, social support, shared vision, and social pressure, which, taken together, significantly affect play frequency. The results also show that social interaction and shared vision positively impact players' play performance. The study enhances the theoretical understanding of social relationships in players' game participation results from the SNE aspect. Finally, we lend insights on how game operators can improve player game experience and stickiness.
