Carcass characteristics were studied in 80 young Hungarian red deer in different ages (12, 15, 18 and 20 months of age). In all age group 10 male and 10 female were slaughtered. The dressed carcass ...weight in skin varied between 53.72 and 65.66% of live weight. The first class lean meat varied between 14.3 and 16.6% of live weight. The live weight, carcass weight increased with the age and differed also between sexes. The highest dressing percentages were found at 20 months of age in both sexes (♂: 65.7%, ♀: 62.5%). Mainly the hinds had higher loin, leg and shoulder proportions of carcass at 20 months of age than the stags. The carcass muscle, bone and fat content were measured by computer tomography. These traits were grown and their proportion changed with the age. The bone to muscle ratio gradually decreased with the age while the fat to muscle ratio increased after 15 months of age (♂: from 0.13 to 0.17, ♀: from 0.15 to 0.18). At 18 month of age the hinds had higher bone to muscle and fat to muscle ratio than the stags'. The fat percentage of carcasses increased with the age in both sexes (♂: from 8.01% to 11.04%, ♀: from 8.40% to 11.28%). The hinds had higher values than the stags but it was significant just at 20 months of age. From the meat quality attributes there were found differences between ages in the case of pH, lightness, drip loss, cooking loss and shear force. The highest pH was found at 12 months of age in both sexes. There were found 5% intermediate pH (6.2 < pH < 5.8) at 12 and 15 months of age, all of them were male. The highest lightness values were observed at 18 months of age in both sexes (♂: 13.47, ♀: 14.90). There were differences between sexes in pH at all ages, except 15 months of age, and at 18 months of age in redness and lightness. Based on our results, the optimal slaughtering time for Hungarian red deer is 20 months of age, because this is when the dressing percentage is the best for both sexes. Meat quality traits changed with age, and gender differences sexes were the most pronounced for these traits at 18 months of age.
Ruthenium complexes are developed as substitutes for platinum complexes to be used in the chemotherapy of hematological and gynecological malignancies, such as ovarian cancer. We synthesized and ...screened 14 ruthenium half-sandwich complexes with bidentate monosaccharide ligands in ovarian cancer cell models. Four complexes were cytostatic, but not cytotoxic on A2780 and ID8 cells. The IC50 values were in the low micromolar range (the best being 0.87 µM) and were similar to or lower than those of the clinically available platinum complexes. The active complexes were cytostatic in cell models of glioblastoma, breast cancer, and pancreatic adenocarcinoma, while they were not cytostatic on non-transformed human skin fibroblasts. The bioactive ruthenium complexes showed cooperative binding to yet unidentified cellular target(s), and their activity was dependent on reactive oxygen species production. Large hydrophobic protective groups on the hydroxyl groups of the sugar moiety were needed for biological activity. The cytostatic activity of the ruthenium complexes was dependent on reactive species production. Rucaparib, a PARP inhibitor, potentiated the effects of ruthenium complexes.
Platinum complexes are used in chemotherapy, primarily as antineoplastic agents. In this study, we assessed the cytotoxic and cytostatic properties of a set of osmium(II), ruthenium(II), iridium(III) ...and rhodium(III) half-sandwich-type complexes with bidentate monosaccharide ligands. We identified 5 compounds with moderate to negligible acute cytotoxicity but with potent long-term cytostatic activity. These structure-activity relationship studies revealed that: (1) osmium(II)
-cymene complexes were active in all models, while rhodium(III) and iridium(III) Cp* complexes proved largely inactive; (2) the biological effect was influenced by the nature of the central azole ring of the ligands-1,2,3-triazole was the most effective, followed by 1,3,4-oxadiazole, while the isomeric 1,2,4-oxadiazole abolished the cytostatic activity; (3) we found a correlation between the hydrophobic character of the complexes and their cytostatic activity: compounds with
-benzoyl protective groups on the carbohydrate moiety were active, compared to
-deprotected ones. The best compound, an osmium(II) complex, had an IC
value of 0.70 µM. Furthermore, the steepness of the inhibitory curve of the active complexes suggested cooperative binding; cooperative molecules were better inhibitors than non-cooperative ones. The cytostatic activity of the active complexes was abolished by a lipid-soluble antioxidant, vitamin E, suggesting that oxidative stress plays a major role in the biological activity of the complexes. The complexes were active on ovarian cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, osteosarcoma and Hodgkin's lymphoma cells, but were inactive on primary, non-transformed human fibroblasts, indicating their applicability as potential anticancer agents.
Edge architectures provide local, decentralized services, enabling balancing network traffic and distributing hardware resources. Later, many new use cases can be implemented by combining the ...advantages of the edge computing concept with the services of 5G systems. One of the biggest beneficiaries of this could be the Vehicle-to-Cloud (V2C) technology, where it is necessary to efficiently process large amounts of data resulting from Vehicle-to-Everything communication (V2X) services. In specific use cases, this makes it possible to process sensor data collectively, enhanced by fusion, which promotes a more effective virtual representation of the real world. The effective implementation of these technologies is a complex task. One of the most important steps before tests on actual infrastructures with real vehicles is evaluating and validating edge cloud systems. We present a solution for this problem, the Cloud-in-the-Loop (CiL) simulation framework. It can orchestrate a real-size, telco-grade level, Kubernetes-based edge cloud infrastructure based on information gathered from a traffic simulator and performing fine-grained benchmarking and data collection. In addition to the performance analysis of the edge system, it also enables an in-depth examination of cloud-native applications serving complex automotive use cases. In this paper, we focus on presenting the developed framework and its capabilities by utilizing the system with implemented test applications, and give an example of testing QoS and QoE aspects of the edge cloud-based V2C concept.
Motivation. Fault-tolerant (FT) distributed protocols represent fundamental building blocks behind many practical systems. A rigorous design of these protocols is desired given the complexity of ...manual proofs. The application of model checking (MC) 2 for protocol verification is attractive with its full automation and rich property language. However, being an exhaustive exploration method, its scalability is limited by the number of different system states. Although FT distributed protocols usually display a high degree of symmetry which stems from permuting different processes, MC efforts targeting their automated verification often disregard this symmetry. Therefore, we propose to leverage the framework of symmetry reduction 6 and improve on existing applications of it. Our secondary contribution is to define a high-level description language (called FTDP) to ease the symmetry-aware specification of FT distributed protocols.

In this study, we synthesized a set of half-sandwich complexes of platinum-group metal ions (Ru(II), Os(II), Ir(III) and Rh(III)) with an N,N-bidentate ligand comprising a
-glucosaminyl group and a heterocycle, such as pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine or quinoline. The sugar-containing ligands themselves are unknown compounds and were obtained by nucleophilic additions of lithiated heterocycles to
-perbenzylated 2-nitro-glucal. Reduction of the adducts and, where necessary, subsequent protecting group manipulations furnished the above
-glucosaminyl heterocycles in their
-perbenzylated,
-perbenzoylated and
-unprotected forms. The derived complexes were tested on A2780 ovarian cancer cells. Pyridine, pyrazine and pyridazine-containing complexes proved to be cytostatic and cytotoxic on A2780 cells, while pyrimidine and quinoline derivatives were inactive. The best complexes contained pyridine as the heterocycle. The metal ion with polyhapto arene/arenyl moiety also impacted on the biological activity of the complexes. Ruthenium complexes with
-cymene and iridium complexes with Cp* had the best performance in ovarian cancer cells, followed by osmium complexes with
-cymene and rhodium complexes with Cp*. Finally, the chemical nature of the protective groups on the hydroxyl groups of the carbohydrate moiety were also key determinants of bioactivity; in particular,
-benzyl groups were superior to
-benzoyl groups. The IC
values of the complexes were in the low micromolar range, and, importantly, the complexes were less active against primary, untransformed human dermal fibroblasts; however, the anticipated therapeutic window is narrow. The bioactive complexes exerted cytostasis on a set of carcinomas such as cell models of glioblastoma, as well as breast and pancreatic cancers. Furthermore, the same complexes exhibited bacteriostatic properties against multiresistant Gram-positive
and
clinical isolates in the low micromolar range.
The practical usage of V2X communication protocols started emerging in recent years. Data built on sensor information are displayed via onboard units and smart devices. However, perceptually ...obtaining such data may be counterproductive in terms of visual attention, particularly in the case of safety-related applications. Using the windshield as a display may solve this issue, but switching between 2D information and the 3D reality of traffic may introduce issues of its own. To overcome such difficulties, automotive light field visualization is introduced. In this paper, we investigate the visualization of V2X communication protocols and use cases via projection-based light field technology. Our work is motivated by the abundance of V2X sensor data, the low latency of V2X data transfer, the availability of automotive light field prototypes, the prevalent dominance of non-autonomous and non-remote driving, and the lack of V2X-based light field solutions. As our primary contributions, we provide a comprehensive technological review of light field and V2X communication, a set of recommendations for design and implementation, an extensive discussion and implication analysis, the exploration of utilization based on standardized protocols, and use-case-specific considerations.
In this paper, the coordination and control design of a variable-geometry suspension is proposed, in which independent steering and torque vectoring are integrated. The motivation of this paper is ...the research on the novel smart actuators for autonomous urban vehicles, by which various functionalities can be achieved. The goal of this paper is to propose a control design for trajectory tracking with increased reachability domain. Therefore, in this paper, the hierarchical control design of the suspension system using robust and linear-parameter varying (LPV) methods is presented. The robust stability of the hierarchy is guaranteed through the modeling of the uncertainties of different control layers. Furthermore, the coordination of independent steering and torque vectoring is proposed, which is based on a nonlinear reachability analysis of the interventions. The efficiency of the prosed method is presented through the high-complexity simulation software of the vehicle dynamics (CarSim) and the suspension construction (SimMechanics).
