and using refined morphological and molecular methods we were able to recognize further individual taxa within the section. Fifteen species occurring in Europe are assigned to H. subsect. Denudata. Of these, we describe eight species as new, namely H. aanenii, H. aurantioumbrinum,
H. geminatum, H. louiseae, H. luteicystidiatum, H. pallidolabiatum, H. perexiguum and H. salicicola. Naucoria bellotiana, a species very similar to H. alpinum is recombined into Hebeloma. A key to Hebeloma subsect. Denudata
is provided. We demonstrate that within this subsection there is good overall consistency between morphological, phylogenetic and biological species concepts. In contrast to current opinion, in this group there is little species overlap, particularly when also considering species frequencies,
between arctic and alpine floras on one hand and temperate on the other.
Between 2002 and 2012 regular visits to the Carpathians were made and a number of Hebeloma spp. were collected from the alpine area. In total 44 collections were made that represent 11 species, two ...of which, Hebeloma grandisporum and H. oreophilum, are described here as new. Of the 11 species, four (H. alpinum, H. marginatulum and the two species described as new) are known only from alpine or Arctic habitats. Hebeloma dunense and H. mesophaeum are commonly found in, but not restricted to, alpine habitats. The other five species (H. aanenii, H. laterinum, H. naviculosporum, H. vaccinum, H. velutipes) are usually found in lowland or boreal habitats. Hebeloma naviculosporum is reported for the first time from the alpine zone and H. alpinum for the first time as growing with Helianthemum. All but two species (H. alpinum, H. marginatulum) are reported for the first time from the Carpathian alpine zone. In this paper we discuss the habitat, the 11 recorded species and give detailed descriptions of the two new species, both morphologically and molecularly. A key for Hebeloma species from sect. Hebeloma occurring in Arctic-alpine habitats is provided.
Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death worldwide and Myocardial Infarction (MI) is the primary symptom of cardiovascular disease. In MI, Damage-Associated Molecular ...Patterns (DAMPs) released by dying cells play an important role in driving the inflammatory response following myocardial damage with potentially adverse or pro-regenerative outcomes. Since angiogenesis is a key process to ameliorate the sequelae of MI and the effect of DAMPs on cardiac cells are still widely unknown, hereby we present a novel model to study how DAMPs affect the gene expression of human Cardiac Microvascular Endothelial Cells (CMECs), one of the most abundant cell types in the heart, aiming to identify lncRNA targets to induce regenerative angiogenesis in patients with MI.
To generate a cocktail of DAMPs, cells were isolated from the heart tissue of patients undergoing septal myectomy via collagenase treatment and exposed to repeated cycles of freeze-thawing to induce cell rupture. The release of endogenous molecules (DAMPs), such as DNA, was confirmed by nano drop. CMECs were then stimulated with DAMPs for 24h and RNA sequencing was performed. Finally, to predict potential co-regulation between lncRNAs and angiogenic proteins, a combination of PLAIDOH and NoRCE were used. The RNA sequencing revealed a total of 1294 Differently Expressed Genes (DEGs) in CMECs stimulated with DAMPs, of which 218 were lncRNAs annotated in GENCODE v42. Among the top 50 DEGs were found proteins involved in cell growth, proliferation, and immune response such as FGF5, CEP128, and IL32 and the GSE analysis revealed that proliferation (mitosis), migration, and angiogenesis were among the most enriched terms. The analysis with PLAIDOH and NoRCe revealed ∼25 differentially expressed lncRNAs which correlate with proteins involved in cell cycle and mitotic entry (Pearson 0.6-0.99 and p-value < 0.05). Among these were found HIF1A-AS3, TGFB-OT1, TGFB-AS1. Following the in-silico analysis, results were confirmed by qPCR. qPCR for HIFA1A-AS3 showed a significant reduction of 40% when CMECs were stimulated with DAMPs (p-value: 0.04) confirming the sequencing results. Whether HIFA1A-AS3 is involved in cell proliferation will now be validated with KO experiments.
In conclusion, the administration of DAMPs to CMECs for 24h induced genes involved in proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis, processes that are also highly regulated in MI. By combining PLAIDOH and NoRCE we were able to identify lncRNAs which correlate in expression with protein-coding genes involved in these processes indicating co-regulation. These experiments recapitulate the main endothelial cell processes found in MI via administration of DAMPs and enable us to identify lncRNA targets to promote regenerative angiogenesis. Hence, this brings us one step closer to identifying gene therapy targets capable of inducing regenerative angiogenesis in patients with MI.
Eight new 5-(quinolinylmethylene)barbituric acid derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid and 1,3-diethyl-2-thiobarbituric acid with quinoline-4-carboxaldehydes and ...several quinoline-2-carboxaldehydes via Knoevenagel condensation. The novel compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass, IR, and UV-visible spectral data and elemental analyses. d.c. and a.c. conduction properties of the compounds were investigated in the frequency range of 40–105 Hz and temperature range 295–440 K. The d.c. results showed an activated conductivity dependence on temperature for all films. Obtained data reveal that a.c. conductivity obeys the relation σac(ω)=Aωs and exponent s is found to decrease by increasing temperature. The analysis of the a.c. conduction data showed that the CBH model is the dominant conduction mechanism for the electron transport in the films. Gas sensing properties of the films for the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were also investigated in the same temperature range. Maximum sensitivity to VOCs was observed at around 360 K for compound 6.
The Omega3/LHC1 pixel detector readout chip comprises a matrix of 128 × 16 readout cells of 50
μm × 500
μm and peripheral functions with 4 distinct modes of initialization and operation, together ...more than 800 000 transistors. Each cell contains a complete chain of amplifier, discriminator with adjustable threshold and fast-OR output, a globally adjustable delay with local fine-tuning, coincidence logic and memory. Every cell can be individually addressed for electrical test and masking. First results have been obtained from electrical tests of a chip without detector as well as from source measurements. The electronic noise without detector is ∼ 100 e
− rms. The lowest threshold setting is close to 2000 e
− and non-uniformity has been measured to be better than 450 e
− rms at 5000 e
− threshold. A timewalk of < 10 ns and a precision of < 6 ns rms on a delay of 2 μs have been measured. The results may be improved by further optimization.

The ITS is the only one from the sequenced loci that, alongside with morphology, distinguishes among all of the species of sect.

The Omega-3 readout chip is presented in detail elsewhere in the same proceedings 1. We here describe the integration of the chip into present and future experiments describing both hardware and ...software aspects. We cover preliminary tests in the laboratory and on the beam. The WA97 experiment has already used a pixel telescope in the past 4 and intends to upgrade to the Omega-3 chip. A newly proposed experiment at CERN studying strangeness production in heavy ion collisions also plans to use a similar telescope. Finally, we give an outlook on the ongoing developments in the pixel readout architecture in the context of ALICE, the heavy ion experiment at the LHC collider.

Results are presented on p + ω,ø and J/ψ production in p-W and 32S-W interactions at 200GeV/c/nucleon measured via the dimuon decay in a large kinematic region. The data are normalized to the charged ...particle multiplicity in the same rapidity interval. They have been collected using the HELIOS/3 muon spectrometer at the CERN SPS. The ratio Bσø/ (Bσρ + Bσω), where B is the relevant resonance µµ branching fraction, increases between proton and sulphur projectiles, and is somewhat enhanced going from peripheral to central S-W interactions. This results from an increase in the number of produced ø’s per charged particle. The ratio is measured in different intervals of pt and rapidity. It is not clearly dependent on pt, but is larger at higher rapidities. J/Ψ production, likewise normalized to charged multiplicity, is significantly lower in S-W compared to p-W interactions.
