The objectives of this study were to determine the population fluctuations of the citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella, and its parasitoids in three locations of Ecuador, to identify and ...determine the geographic distribution of P. citrella parasitoids within Ecuador, and to establish which of eleven citrus species supported higher numbers of P. citrella and its parasitoids. The highest population density of P. citrella occurred during the dry season. The highest infestations in three localities were in Lodana (43.8%) in October, in Riochico (45.7%) in November, and in La Unión (17.3%) in December. The greatest percentages of parasitism occurred in Lodana in March (60%), in Riochico in January (18.9%), and La Unión in December (50%). The species Ageniaspis citricola Logvinovskaya, Galeopsomyia sp., and Elasmus tischeriae Howard were identified with 28.4, 2.2, and 0.07% parasitism, respectively. Although this is the first report of A. citricola in Ecuador, it is widely distributed in the main citrus producing zones of the country. Orange and grapefruit yielded higher numbers of citrus leafminers and their natural enemies than other citrus species.

The super-resolution reconstruction (SRR) of images is an ill posed problem. Traditionally it is treated as a regularized minimization problem. Moreover, one of the major problems concerning SRR is ...its dependence on an accurate registration. In this work we show that a certain amount of registration error may. in fact, be beneficial for the performance of the least mean square SRR (LMS-SRR) adaptive algorithm. In these cases, the regularization term can be avoided and computational cost is reduced, an important advantage in real-time SRR applications.
The overall objective of this research was to study the competitiveness of the production systems of the mango variety Tommy Atkins in the municipalities of La Mesa, Tocaima and Anapoima (Cundinamarca), in order to propose strategies for improvement and sustainability. This study sought to provide the means for a competitive analysis of the mango production system through diagnosis of the same, identifying strengths and weaknesses that will lead to a deeper characterization and understanding of the mechanisms of the system and its problems. With the specific and general characteristics of the administrative and economic studies, a non-experimental, methodological design was used, in which the investigator was a passive agent, who did not influence the independent variables.
This paper applies a new vector subspace model to determine the non-Wiener solutions of the LMS algorithm when the reference input is an arbitrary noisy periodic signal. The LMS weights are modeled ...as a deterministic time-varying mean plus a zero-mean fluctuating part. For the mean weight, each harmonic component of the periodic reference is shown to excite only a two-dimensional (2-D) subspace of the N-dimensional tap weight space. The fluctuating part of the weight is due to the reference noise that excites the full N-dimensional space. The power spectrum of the error is computed using the correlation function of the weight fluctuations. The error is shown to be primarily the sum of a white noise and the canceled periodic residual for an independent noise vector model. When the effects of the tapped delay line are incorporated in the model, the noise becomes colored with a spectrum centered about the canceled sinusoidal frequency. This weight model significantly simplifies the understanding of the non-Wiener behavior and can be applied to active noise cancellation problems when filters appear in the cancellation loop.
Anaesthetic information displays have been shown to influence anaesthesiologists' situation awareness. In study 1 an object display was compared with the traditional display currently used. Twelve ...anaesthesiologists (residents and faculty members) participated in a simulator evaluation of the displays. Reaction times for detection of critical events and situation awareness were measured. The object display improved situation awareness for one of four test scenarios. Low-level situation awareness was higher with the traditional display, and medium-level situation awareness was higher with the new display. In study 2, an integrated 3D display was compared to the traditional display. Twelve students participated in the evaluation. The new 3D display helped the observers to see changes more rapidly. In one scenario, situation awareness was higher with the new display than with the traditional display. In summary, during 63% of the simulated scenarios, reliable differences were found in favour of the new displays. Thus, by introducing integrated graphical displays in the operating room, anaesthesiologists' performance may be improved. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
