The physic nut has been considered as one of the oilseed plants species with the highest potential for biofuel production. Oleaginous seeds demand special care during storage to maintain their ...quality. This study aimed to establish the most adequate conditions for their storage. Freshly-harvested seeds were dried until 7.2 moisture content and stored along a year, under the following conditions: environmental laboratory and cold chamber ( ±5 ºC and 60% RH), into paper bag, polypropylene bag, and cardboard barrel. Physiological quality was then assessed by the tests: germination; first count; germination speed index; seedling length; accelerated aging; cold test; field emergence; and emergence speed index, after zero, three, six, nine, and 12 months. There was linear reduction of germination and vigor of the seeds after storage under environmental laboratory condition, into paper or polypropylene bags, and cardboard barrel. Physiological quality was higher after storage in cold chamber, into paper or polypropylene bags; and into cardboard barrel, at environmental laboratory condition.
IntroductionThe present study aimed to perform the construct and content validation of the evaluative matrix of longitudinal bond in Primary Health Care. Longitudinal bond is related to positive ...results of health care and is representative of structuring characteristics of Primary Care in the Unified Health System (SUS).MethodologyThe validation was held in two stages: on the first stage, the research crew discussed the structuring concepts of the matrix and revised the criteria, indicators and questions; on the second stage, using the Delphi method as a reference, specialists were consulted to analyze and judge the items of the matrix in a conference via web and at a Consensus Workshop.ResultsAdjustments were made in the first stage and the number of items in the matrix was significantly reduced. In the second stage, specialists agreed on the adjustments made on the format of the matrix, and new items to better represent the model adopted by the SUS were inserted.ConclusionThe evaluation improved the matrix, making it more robust in terms of the representativity of the attribute, contributing for its applicability as an evaluative instrument of Primary Health Care in the SUS.
Aedes aegypti is the primary vector of virus transmission that causes dengue, yellow fever, chikungunya and zika. The primary prevention method has been vector control and synthetic insecticides that ...can cause environmental side effects. Thus, the work aimed to evaluate the larvicidal potential of extracts and isolated compounds from Piper cubeba against A. aegypti larvae. The larvicidal activity method was executed according to the World Health Organization protocol. The larvae were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Through molecular docking, the action mechanism was investigated. The hydroalcoholic and hexane extracts showed similar larvicidal activity with LC
50
of 191.1 μg/mL and 185.84 μg/mL, respectively. Between isolated compounds, hinokinin presented LC
50
= 97.74 μg/mL. The SEM analysis showed structural damage to the larva's tegument caused by extracts and isolated compounds. Therefore, the results demonstrate the larvicidal action of hinokinin and extracts, which can lead to the development of new natural larvicides.
