Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the most lethal malignancies in the world. Several signaling pathways,including the wingless/int-1(Wnt) signaling pathway,have been shown to be commonly ...activated in HCC. The Wnt signaling pathway can be triggered via both catenin β1(CTNNB1)-dependent(also known as 'canonical') and CTNNB1-independent(often referred to as 'non-canonical') pathways. Specifically,the canonical Wnt pathway is one of those most frequently reported in HCC. Aberrant regulation from three complexes(the cell-surface receptor complex,the cytoplasmic destruction complex and the nuclear CTNNB1/T-cell-specific transcription factor/lymphoid enhancer binding factor transcriptional complex) are all involved in HCC. Although the non-canonical Wnt pathway is rarely reported,two main non-canonical pathways,Wnt/planar cell polarity pathway and Wnt/Ca2+ pathway,participate in the regulation of hepatocarcinogenesis. Interestingly,the canonical Wnt pathway is antagonized by non-canonical Wnt signaling in HCC. Moreover,other signaling cascades have also been demonstrated to regulate the Wnt pathway through crosstalk in HCC pathogenesis. This review provides a perspective on the emerging evidence that the aberrant regulation of Wnt signaling is a critical mechanism for the development of HCC. Furthermore,crosstalk between different signaling pathways might be conducive to the development of novel molecular targets of HCC.

Ferroptosis is a novel form of regulated cell death involved in tumor progression. The role of ferroptosis-related lncRNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear.
RNA-seq and clinical data ...for HCC patients were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Genomic Data Commons (GDC) portal. Bioinformatics methods, including weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA), Cox regression, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) analysis, were used to identify signature markers for diagnosis/prognosis. The tumor microenvironment, immune infiltration and functional enrichment were compared between the low-risk and high-risk groups. Subsequently, small molecule drugs targeting ferroptosis-related signature components were predicted
the L1000FWD and PubChem databases.
The prognostic model consisted of 2 ferroptosis-related mRNAs (SLC1A5 and SLC7A11) and 8 ferroptosis-related lncRNAs (AC245297.3, MYLK-AS1, NRAV, SREBF2-AS1, AL031985.3, ZFPM2-AS1, AC015908.3, MSC-AS1). The areas under the curves (AUCs) were 0.830 and 0.806 in the training and test groups, respectively. Decision curve analysis (DCA) revealed that the ferroptosis-related signature performed better than all pathological characteristics. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the risk score was an independent prognostic factor. The survival probability of low- and high-risk patients could be clearly distinguished by the principal component analysis (PCA) plot. The risk score divided HCC patients into two distinct groups in terms of immune status, especially checkpoint gene expression, which was further supported by the Gene Ontology (GO) biological process, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis. Finally, several small molecule drugs (SIB-1893, geldanamycin and PD-184352, etc) targeting ferroptosis-related signature components were identified for future reference.
We constructed a new ferroptosis-related mRNA/lncRNA signature for HCC patients. The model can be used for prognostic prediction and immune evaluation, providing a reference for immunotherapies and targeted therapies.

Chitosan was added to cotton fabrics coated with sodium phytate and 3-Aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) to further enhance the fire retardant property by the layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly. The surface morphologies before and after flaming and structure of coated cotton fabrics were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared analysis. The thermal degradation properties, fire retardancy, and combustion properties of this system were investigated by Fourier transform infrared analysis, thermogravimetric analysis coupled with Fourier transform infrared analysis (TG-FTIR) in the N2 atmosphere, the thermogravimetric analysis in air atmosphere, limiting oxygen index test (LOI), vertical burning test and cone calorimeter test, respectively. Sodium phytate, chitosan and hydrolyzed APTES were successfully deposited and well distributed on the surface of cotton fibers. The LOI value of the coated cotton fabric with 15BL was 29.0%, and it extinguished at once in the vertical burning test, while the coated cotton fabrics with 5BL and 10BL were burned out. The deposition of sodium phytate, chitosan and hydrolyzed APTES led to the decrease of heat release rate, total heat release, total smoke release and smoke production rate. The promoted fire retardancy was assigned to thermally stable residuals formed on the surface of cotton fibers, which prohibited heat/mass transfer from combustion zone to polymer degradation zone. TG-FTIR results indicated that flame retardant cotton fabrics produced more nonflammable gases (CO2 and H2O) and less combustible gases than them of the control sample did, increasing flame retardant properties of flame retardant cotton fabrics.
Objective
The fabrication of bioactive coatings on metallic implants to enhance osseointegration has become a topic of general interest in orthopedics and dentistry. Hydroxyapatite (HA) coating has ...been shown to induce bone formation and promote bone-implant integration. Unfortunately, poor mechanical performance has hindered this from becoming a favorable coating material. The majority of present studies have focused in incorporating different elements into HA coatings to improve mechanical properties. In recent years, tantalum (Ta) has received increasing attention due to its excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. The aim of on the present study was to investigate the fabrication and biological performance of Ta-incorporated HA coatings.
Methods
Ta-incorporated HA coatings were fabricated using the plasma spray technique on a titanium substrate, and the surface characteristics and mechanical properties were examined. In addition, the effects of Ta-incorporated HA coatings on the biological behavior of mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were investigated.
Results
Ta-incorporated HA coatings with microporous structure had higher roughness and wettability. In addition, the bonding strength of Ta/HA coatings with the substrate was substantially superior to HA coatings. Furthermore, Ta-incorporated HA coatings not only facilitated initial cell adhesion and faster proliferation, but also promoted the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.
Conclusion
These results indicate that the incorporation of Ta could improve mechanical performance and increase the osteogenic activity of HA coatings. The Ta-incorporated HA coating fabricated by plasma spraying is expected to be a promising bio-coating material for metallic implants.

Total strain-controlled low cycle fatigue (LCF) tests of a nickel-base superalloy were performed at 650°C. Combined with fatigue test data, cyclic deformation behaviors of the alloy were analyzed. Fatigue cycle life decreases significantly with the increasing total strain amplitude. The cyclic hardening and cyclic softening phenomena occur during the LCF process, which are associated with the total strain amplitude. Fracture morphologies and dislocation characteristics were observed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The combined effects of brittle fracture and ductile fracture are the main LCF fracture mechanism of the alloy.

Numerous long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as aberrantly expressed in Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, limited knowledge is available concerning the roles of dysregulated lncRNAs and the underlying molecular regulatory mechanism in the pathological process of PD. In this study, we found that lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (SNHG1) and seven in absentia homolog 1 (SIAH1) were upregulated, but microRNA-15b-5p (miR-15b-5p) was downregulated in SH-SY5Y cells pretreated with MPP+, as well as in MPTP-induced mouse model of PD. Overexpression of SIAH1 enhanced cellular toxicity of α-synuclein in SH-SY5Y cells, as indicated by the reduction of cell viability and elevation of LDH release. The percentage of α-synuclein aggregate-positive cells and the number of α-synuclein aggregates per cell were increased in SH-SY5Y cells transfected with pcDNA-SIAH1, while decreased after transfection with short interfering RNA specific for SIAH1 (si-SIAH1). Bioinformatics and luciferase reporter assay revealed that SIAH1 was a direct target of miR-15b-5p. We also found that SNHG1 could directly bind to miR-15-5p and repress miR-15-5p expression. Upregulation of miR-15b-5p alleviated α-synuclein aggregation and apoptosis by targeting SIAH1 in SH-SY5Y cells overexpressing α-synuclein. Overexpression of SNHG1 enhanced, whereas SNHG1 knockdown inhibited α-synuclein aggregation and α-synuclein-induced apoptosis. Moreover, the neuroprotective effect of si-SNHG1 was abrogated by downregulation of miR-15b-5p. In summary, our data suggest that SNHG1, as a pathogenic factor, promotes α-synuclein aggregation and toxicity by targeting the miR-15b-5p/SIAH1 axis, contributing to a better understanding of the mechanisms of Lewy body formation and loss of dopaminergic neurons in PD.

To investigate the role and potential mechanism of serine/threonine kinase 36 (STK36) in docetaxel resistance-prostate cancer (PCa). The expression of STK36 in PCa and the correlation with ...clinicopathological characteristics of PCa patients were analyzed using the data from different databases and tissue microarrays. To investigate the role of STK36 on cell proliferation, invasion, and migration, STK36 was overexpressed and silenced in DU-145 and PC-3 cell lines. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) was used to test cell proliferation. Cell invasion and migration were detected by cell wound scratch assay and trans well, respectively. The expression profile of STK36, E-Cadherin, and Vimentin was analyzed by Western blot. Cell apoptosis was detected by the TUNEL assay. STK36 expression was upregulated in PCa tissue compared with adjacent benign PCa tissue; it was higher in patients with advanced stages compared with lower stages and was significantly correlated with decreased overall survival. Up-regulation of STK36 significantly promoted the proliferation, invasion, and migration of DU-145 and PC-3 cells and compensated for the suppression caused by docetaxel treatment in vitro. A striking apoptosis inhibition could be observed when dealing with docetaxel, although the apoptosis of DU-145 and PC-3 cells was not affected by the STK36 exclusive overexpression. Besides, E-Cadherin expression was restrained while the expression levels of vimentin were all enhanced. The knockdown of STK36 reversed the above process. STK36 up-regulation could accelerate the biological behavior and docetaxel resistance of PCa by epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) activation. STK36 may be potentially used as a target in PCa resolvent with docetaxel.
