Ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) of organic materials is extremely attractive for its tremendous potential use. However, the design of organic materials with ultralong and efficient ...RTP is very challenging due to the lack of general design principles. A new design principle for organic materials with ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence based on π–π-dominated supramolecular aggregates in crystal is proposed, and strong intermolecular electronic coupling with specific molecular alignment is identified to be responsible for supramolecular behavior in persistent emission. Small substituents in molecular structure favor the formation of supramolecular aggregates in the crystal, thus facilitating the generation of ultralong RTP under ambient conditions. Our results also reveal that the introduction of heavy atoms into supramolecular aggregates as a general rule can be used to achieve efficient persistent phosphorescence.

Proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) is a minor cereal crop that has been considered as health-promoting food. Little information is available however, about the metabolic basis of nutritional values of proso millet. In this study, using a UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS-based metabolomics approach, we compared the metabolomes of whole grains from four proso millet varieties with different bran color, namely White, Black, Gray and Red. In total, 672 metabolites were identified, among which 121, 116 and 148 metabolites showed differential accumulation in the three comparison groups (White vs. Black/Gray/Red). The results demonstrated the main pathways that were differentially activated included: tryptophan metabolism, flavonoid, isoflavonoid, flavone, and flavonol biosynthesis. Considerable difference between varieties was observed in accumulation of phenolic acids and flavonoids, which might lead to difference in antioxidant activities. The results of this study provide useful information for further investigation of proso millet food chemistry and for sufficient utilization of this special crop.
Thiolated copper nanoclusters (CuNCs) with aggregation-induced emission characteristic are becoming a novel luminescent material, but it is still a challenging task to retain its bright luminescence ...in a neutral solution. In this work, we report a new copper nanocluster with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) enhancement property using a hydrophobic molecule as the protecting ligand, and brightly luminescent AIE particles of copper nanocluster were prepared via hydrophobic interaction. These CuNCs AIE particles possess uniform rod-like shapes, with sizes in hundreds of nanometer, and an intense luminescence; more importantly, its luminescence remains stable in neutral and alkaline solutions. It is found that 4-nitrophenol is able to effectively quench the luminescence of CuNC AIE particles through strong hydrophobic interaction and electron transfer between them. This strong quenching effect was adopted to develop a luminescent assay for β-galactosidase at physiological condition. This work presents a demonstration of preparing CuNC AIE particles with bright luminescence at neutral condition and gives an example of the use of AIE particles in monitoring the enzyme activity.
The flow regulation accuracy of metering pump has a direct impact on the product quality produced by process industry, and even affects the personal safety of operators. In order to improve its ...control accuracy, an improved generalized predictive control system model for metering pumps based on differential evolution algorithm is established, and a given flow control simulation experiment and tracking flow control simulation experiment are performed on the model. The results show that the metering pump under generalized predictive control can quickly reach the given flow value, the adjustment process is stable; the tracking flow control effect of the metering pump is good, and it can respond to commands within 10 seconds and reach a stable state without overshooting.
Objective To analyze the port complications and risk factors associated with the port complications in gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis. Methods The medical records of 323 patients ...with subcutaneous ports implantation for intraperitoneal chemotherapy were retrospectively analyzed and 261 gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis were included. Port complications and risk factors associated with complications were analyzed. Results There were 59 (22.6%) cases with port complications associated with intraperitoneal chemotherapy in all included 261 cases. Subcutaneous effusion (25 cases, 42.4%) and port infection (16 cases, 27.1%) were the main complications, followed by port rotation (9 cases, 15.3%), partial port wound dehiscence (7 cases, 11.9%), catheter obstruction (1 case, 1.7%) and subcutaneous metastasis (1 case, 1.7%). Ovarian cancer (OC) is a major cause of cancer mortality in women worldwide. Due to the occult onset of OC, its nonspecific clinical symptoms in the early phase, and a lack of effective early ...diagnostic tools, most OC patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage. In this study, shallow whole‐genome sequencing was utilized to characterize fragmentomics features of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in OC patients. By applying a machine learning model, multiclass fragmentomics data achieved a mean area under the curve (AUC) of 0.97 (95% CI 0.962–0.976) for diagnosing OC. OC scores derived from this model strongly correlated with the disease stage. Further comparative analysis of OC scores illustrated that the fragmentomics‐based technology provided additional clinical benefits over the traditional serum biomarkers cancer antigen 125 (CA125) and the Risk of Ovarian Malignancy Algorithm (ROMA) index. In conclusion, fragmentomics features in ctDNA are potential biomarkers for the accurate diagnosis of OC.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is released into the blood from tumor cells as short fragments. Fragmentation patterns, such in length or distribution, may be associated with certain cancer types. Here, using ctDNA from ovarian cancer (OC) patients, fragmentation patterns and their possible association with OC were analyzed. Data indicate that fragments derived from cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) in OC patients is, on average, shorter than fragments from individuals without cancer. Scores derived from a machine learning model further showed that fragmentomics features demonstrate sensitivity and specificity in OC diagnosis, with superior performance over existing serum biomarkers and imaging methods.

The exchange reaction of preparing the siloxane-based liquid crystal elastomers (Si-LCEs) always require the acid or base catalysts, which will increase the complexity of the operation and reduces the stability of the Si-LCE materials. In this paper, a novel and simple dual self-catalytic strategy for producing Si-LCEs with dynamic covalent siloxane bonds was proposed. A readily available compound-1,3-bis (aminopropyl) tetramethyldisiloxane (BATS) acts as chain extender and crosslinker for elastomers and provides dynamic covalent bonds (DCBs) as well. More importantly, amino groups of BATS play the role of dual self-catalyst, not only accelerating the thiol Michael addition reaction and aza Michael addition reaction simultaneously during producing Si-LCEs, but also promoting dynamic covalent siloxane bonds exchange reaction at an elevated temperature after the formation of the cross-linked network. With this ingenious design, the obtained fully cured polydomain Si-LCEs possess excellent self-healing and processing abilities enabled by DCBs and outstanding mechanical properties facilitated by hydrogen bond, which can be easily aligned, programmed and recycled. By exploiting these dynamic features, a series of multi-functional soft actuators were realized by simple welding, showing a local fast response and precise control by light and heat. Furthermore, soft robots fabricated with a bilayer structure of Si-LCEs can perform crawling and coiling actuation controlled by near-infrared (NIR) light facilely. These results manifest that the self-catalytic dynamic covalent siloxane bonds strategy is a facile and effective approach for preparing Si-LCEs and provides a new solution for the exploitation of multi-functional liquid crystal elastomers with fast response to various stimulus.

Accommodation of plate convergence during the Arabia-Eurasia collision is expressed in the exhumation record of the broad collision zone. In order to better constrain the spatial and temporal ...patterns of exhumation, this paper presents new geochronology (zircon U-Pb) and thermochronology (zircon and apatite (U-Th)/He, and apatite fission track) data for 18 samples from the Talesh Mountains of northwest Iran. The Talesh and the adjacent Alborz Mountains form the northern side of the Iranian Plateau, itself a first order feature of the collision zone. Zircon U-Pb ages in the Talesh record late Neoproterozoic intrusion and metamorphism (~570 Ma), and a series of Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Oligocene intrusive events. Zircon U-Th/He ages are predominantly Mesozoic (150–90 Ma), whereas apatite (U-Th)/He ages are <20 Ma. Our inverse thermal modeling of apatite fission-track data suggests that the Talesh region shares a similar exhumation history with the Alborz that includes the Paleocene-early Eocene, Oligocene and Miocene events, but responds variably. When integrated with previous results, the combined data show a less exhumed zone in the Talesh and westernmost Alborz as a more rigid unit, and regionally enhanced exhumation by the Late Miocene. Late Miocene onset of deformation may relate to a re-organization of Arabia-Eurasia plate convergence. The causes of this re-organization are debated, but could include elevation of the Iranian Plateau to a level at which it resisted further thickening, causing deformation to be accommodated in other regions.
•New thermochronology data for the Talesh reveal comparable exhumation events with the Alborz.•Low thermochronology ages suggest a less exhumed and more deformation-resistant Talesh than the Alborz.•The Cenozoic exhumation variation of the combined Talesh-Alborz Belt disappeared at the Miocene (~20 Ma).•The co-evolution of the Talesh-Alborz Belt may hint to the formation of the Iranian Plateau.
BS69 (also called ZMYND11) contains tandemly arranged PHD, BROMO, and PWWP domains, which are chromatin recognition modalities. Here, we show that BS69 selectively recognizes histone variant H3.3 ...lysine 36 trimethylation (H3.3K36me3) via its chromatin-binding domains. We further identify BS69 association with RNA splicing regulators, including the U5 snRNP components of the spliceosome, such as EFTUD2. Remarkably, RNA sequencing shows that BS69 mainly regulates intron retention (IR), which is the least understood RNA alternative splicing event in mammalian cells. Biochemical and genetic experiments demonstrate that BS69 promotes IR by antagonizing EFTUD2 through physical interactions. We further show that regulation of IR by BS69 also depends on its binding to H3K36me3-decorated chromatin. Taken together, our study identifies an H3.3K36me3-specific reader and a regulator of IR and reveals that BS69 connects histone H3.3K36me3 to regulated RNA splicing, providing significant, important insights into chromatin regulation of pre-mRNA processing.

BS69/ZMYND11 contains reader domains including Bromo, PHD, and PWWP and binds histone H3.3 trimethylated at lysine 36 (H3.3K36me3). Guo et al. show that BS69 also binds RNA splicing factors, including a U5 snRNP component, EFTUD2. Through these physical interactions, BS69 directly promotes intron retention at H3.3K36me3-decorated chromatin by antagonizing EFTUD2.
