The surface roughness values (in the range from 11 nm to 46 nm) obtained from AFM images of the samples annealed at different temperatures were compatible with the average roughness values (in the range from 14 nm to 51 nm). The results of these analyses confirm that the structure of the α-Fe

In this study, nanostructured indium selenide (InSe) thin films were deposited on Indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass substrate using electrochemical deposition (ECD) from aqueous solution containing ...In(SO4)3.H2O and SeO2. The effects of deposition potential (−0.70 to −1.35 V), time (30-3600 s), temperature (25-80 °C) and pH (2.58 for A samples; 2 for B samples and 1.45 for C samples) on growth of the InSe thin films were examined in terms of their structural, morphological and optical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed that the InSe thin films are in polycrystalline structure. It was found that the values of grain size decreased and the full width half maximum (FWHM) values increased with the increasing deposition potential. According to the absorption measurements, optical properties of the thin films varied with changes in deposition conditions. Based on the atomic force microscopy (AFM) and the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, surface morphology of the thin films was influenced by deposition potential and pH of the electrolyte, and non-homogeneous depositions distributed across the entire surface were observed. In addition, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analyses were used to further examine crystal quality, vibration, chemical binding conditions, In/Se orientation and structure of the prepared InSe thin films. When Raman results are examined, the B12 sample shows a more intensity and narrow peak at 248 cm−1. XPS measurements sowed that A6 sample exhibited more growth in low potential for a long time and better film stoichiometry compared to the other three samples. Also, FT-IR studies prove the presence of InSe. According to the results, the film did not form at low temperatures and short times. However, the film formation began with the increasing deposition temperature and time at the low potential value of −0.730 V. But, it is clear that a high quality film can be obtained in cathodic potential with −1.3 V and shorter deposition time with 300 s at room temperature respectively. Overall results showed that the high quality thin films can be obtained by the ECD technique. However, deposition conditions must be sensitively adjusted to control morphology of the electrodeposited nanoparticles.
•InSe thin films were electrodeposited on ITO.•The applied potential and pH have a strong effect on film deposition.•Morpholgy of film is depending on deposition conditions.
Copper oxide (CuO) thin films were grown on glass substrates by performing ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) method at different substrate temperatures (300 °C, 400 °C, 450 °C, and 500 °C). The ...prepared CuO thin films were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDX), UV–visible spectroscopy, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy measurements in order to assess the effects changed substrate temperature on structural, morphological, and optical properties of the grown materials. Also, the suitability of the grown films as electrodes in supercapacitor applications was investigated with respect to variable substrate temperatures. The XRD patterns revealed that the samples were polycrystalline in nature exhibiting tenorite phase of CuO structure preferential orientation along (11 1‾) plane and the corresponding crystallite size ranged from 28.14 nm to 67.98 nm. The SEM images displayed morphological modifications in the prepared CuO thin films as the substrate temperatures incresed. The XPS and EDX analyses confirmed the successful deposition of aimed materials on the fabricated thin films. It was also obtained that optical absorbance decreased due to the increased substrate temperatures and optical energy bandgaps changed between 1.53 eV and 1.71 eV as the substrate temperatures varied. The electrochemical supercapacitive features of the CuO nanostructures thin films were studied with the help of cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvostatic charge-discharge (GCD) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
•CuO thin films produced to assess their supercapacitor performance by using USP technique for the first time.•The effects of varied substrate temperatures found to lead modifications in structural parameters of CuO nanostructures.•Bandgap of CuO samples increased from 1.53 eV to 1.71 eV as substrate temperature increased.•Luminescence peaks of the grown CuO films affected by changes in substrate temperature.•The specific capacitance value of the CuO thin film electrodes was obtained as 1.4 F g−1.
In this study, nanostructured tungsten trioxide (WO3) thin films were deposited on Indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass substrate using electrochemical deposition (ECD). After deposition, the films ...were annealed at 450 °C for 2 h in an air atmosphere. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed that the prepared WO3 thin films have crystalline phases. According to the absorption measurements, the optical bandgap of the WO3 film was calculated as Eg 2.80 eV. Based on the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, the surface morphology of the thin films was influenced by deposition conditions. Raman spectroscopy analysis was also used to further examine the structure and chemical compositions of the thin films. The nature of the nanostructured WO3 thin films was studied with Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Tafel. Nyquist, open circuit potential and Bode analysis were used to evaluate structural changing and corrosion behavior of the prepared WO3 thin films. With the help of these measurements and analyzes, the parameters such as solution resistance (Rs), polarization resistance (Rpo), a constant phase element (CPE) and a CPE exponent (n) were calculated as 43.43 Ω cm2, 2.67 × 106 Ω cm2, 18.45 × 10−6 Ω−1 s cm−2, 0.958, respectively. Also, the corrosion features of the WO3 thin films were investigated with the help of tafel measurements and the corrosion potential and current values were calculated as −0.583 V and 5.09 × 10−15 A, respectively. It is thought that the prepared thin film might have the potential to be used industrially with these features.

Here, ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method (USP) was utilized to produce pure and silver doped copper oxide nanostructures on glass substrates. Thereafter, several characterization techniques were ...conducted on the grown samples to delve into their morphological, structural, electrochemical, and optical aspects. The mentioned analyses were carried out by performing x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, galvostatic charge-discharge, cyclic voltammetry, and UV–visible spectroscopy measurements. Thus, the impact of silver impurity doping on the relevant aspects of host material were recorded as well as the features of unspoiled copper oxide films. Accordingly, the samples, as indicated by X-ray diffraction results, possessed (002) preferential plane orientation of copper oxide material along with the crystallite sizes ranging from 52.52 nm to 75.02 nm due to the imperfections caused by the silver doping. The scanning electron microscope images exhibited that the silver doping did not form significant modifications in the host material morphology where nanowire-like structures observed. The presence of the suggested materials in the films was verified by the x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Also, the UV–visible spectroscopy measurements detected that optical absorbance edge and bandgap energy values red shifted as a result of the impurity doping. The electrochemical supercapacitors performances of the silver doped copper oxide nanostructured thin films were inspected by using the GCD, EIS, and CV. The silver doped copper oxide films demonstrated a specific capacitance value of 66 F/g at a current density of 1 A/g in 1 M KOH electrolyte. From Nyquist plot, Rs, Rcor, Rpo, Ccor and Cc were obtained as 2.327 × 10
