The prevalence of numerous infectious diseases has emerged as a grave concern within the realm of healthcare. Currently, the issue of antibiotic resistance is compelling scientists to explore novel ...treatment approaches. To combat these infectious diseases, various treatment methods have been developed, harnessing cutting-edge disinfecting nanomaterials. Among the range of metallic nanoparticles employed in medicine, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) stand out as both highly popular and well-suited for the task. They find extensive utility in cancer diagnosis and therapies and as effective antibacterial agents. The interaction between silver and bacterial cells induces significant structural and morphological alterations, ultimately leading to cell demise. In this study, nanoparticles based on silver and bambusuril6 (BU6) were developed for the first time. These NPs can be used for different biomedical purposes. A simple, single-step, and effective synthesis method was employed to produce bambusuril6-protected silver chloride nanoparticles (BU6-Ag/AgCl NPs) through the complexation of BU6 with silver nitrate. The NPs were characterized using X-ray phase analysis (XPS), infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). When the SEM images were examined, it was seen that the synthesized BU6-Ag/AgCl NPs were distributed with homogeneous sizes, and the synthesized NPs were mostly spherical and cubic. The EDS spectra of BU6-Ag/AgCl NPs demonstrated the presence of Ag, Cl, and all expected elements. BU6-Ag/AgCl NPs showed high antibacterial activity against both E. coli and S. aureus bacteria.
During the interaction of aqueous-ethanol or ethanol solutions AgNO3, HAuCl4, and CuCl2, as well as aqueous suspensions of slightly soluble copper(II) salts Cu(C6H4NO2)2·H2O, Cu(C7H5O2)2∙3H2O, and ...CuC7H4O3∙H2O with the ethanol solution of clotrimazole at pH of ~(5.0–5.5), the Ag(C22H17ClN2)2NO3·2H2O, Au(C22H17ClN2)Cl3, Cu(C22H17ClN2)2Cl2·5H2O, Cu(C22H17ClN2)4(C6H4NO2)2, Cu(C22H17ClN2)4(C7H5O2)2, and Cu(C22H17ClN2)3(C7H4O3)·2H2O compounds are synthesised. They are characterised by elemental, thermal, thermogravimetric, and IR spectroscopic methods of analysis. The Ag(C22H17ClN2)2NO3·2H2O complex was shown to have a higher antimycotic activity against Saccharomyces cerevisiae fungi than that of AgNO3 and C22H17ClN2. Cocrystals/salts of the composition C22H17ClN2·C6H5NO2, C22H17ClN2·C7H6O2, 2C22H17ClN2·C7H6O3, and 2C22H17ClN2·C19H19O6N7·H2O are obtained from aqueous and aqueous ethanol suspensions containing nicotinic, benzoic, salicylic, and folic acids and clotrimazole (pH is 4.5–6.0). These cocrystals and salts were studied usin thermogravimetric, IR-spectroscopic methods. Diffraction patterns of the powders were obtained. The influence of the difference in the pKa components on the ability to form cocrystals/salts was assessed.
Hydroxyapatites modified with metal ions are the main inorganic components of bone tissue and are approved for use as components for biocomposites and coatings for surgical implants. This study ...examined prototypes of functional materials for bone implants based on hydroxyapatite modified with zinc ions. Zinc-modified hydroxyapatite was composed and synthesized. Using the XRD method, the phase composition was established. Using SEM, EPMA, and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption (BET) methods, surface properties were investigated. Antibacterial activity and biocompatibility have been established. The studied materials have antimicrobial activity; the samples did not cause significant changes in either the internal organs or the general condition of laboratory animals during the entire experiment.
The application of various materials in biomedical procedures has recently experienced rapid growth. One of the areas is the treatment of many of different types of bone-related diseases and ...disorders by using biodegradable polymer-ceramic composites. We have developed a material based on cryogel polyvinyl alcohol, mineralized with calcium phosphate. Composites were obtained by cyclic freezing-thawing, the synthesis of calcium phosphates was carried out in situ under the influence of microwave radiation with heating and stirring. The components of the composites were determined using the methods of IR-spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy and electron probe microanalyzer, as well as their morphology and surface properties. The biological compatibility of the material was investigated in vivo for a Wistar rat. The assessment of the quality of bone formation between the cryogel-based implant and the damaged bone was carried out by computed tomography. An improvement in the consolidation of the bone defect is observed in the bone with the composite in comparison with the control bone.

Cerium dioxide sols are widely used in photocatalysis, catalysis, medicine and cosmetics. It is believed that sols with a CeO2 size of up to 10 nm have the most active biological properties. The ...method of sols preparation affects their functional properties. They are usually obtained through the stage of separating the oxide in the solid phase from the solution, which can lead to particle agglomeration, and then transferring the oxide to a colloidal solution under the action of various stabilizers. In this study, we propose the method of CeO2 sol obtaining without step of solid phase oxide separation. The stabilizer (polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)) is present at the stage of formation of weakly aggregated CeO2 nanoparticles from cerium(III) salt with an ammonia and hydrogen peroxide solution. Using IR, UV spectroscopy, viscometry and titration it was found that H2O2 eventually oxidizes Ce(III) in solution to Ce(IV) and does not oxidize PVA. The intermediate formed after the addition of ammonia solution to cerium(IV) salt has the composition Ce(ООН)3OН⋅nH2O, which is confirmed by the data of proton magnetic resonance, weight and thermal analyses. The process of CeO2 sol formation stabilized by PVA goes through the stages of Ce(ООН)3ОН dissolution accompanying with an endothermic effect, followed by decomposition. Peroxide compounds in the solid phase are stable in air up to 90–100 °C. The prepared sol has the composition CeO2–PVA–ammonium nitrate, exhibit antioxidant properties, is not a nutrient medium for E. Coli and S. Aureus and is capable to form a calcium-phosphate layer on its surface from a model solution of SBF.

Samples of zinc-modified hydroxyapatite (HA) Ca(10−x)Znx(PO4)6(OH)2 with different zinc content (x=0.1 and 0.5) were synthesized by the liquid-phase method. It was found that the ...addition of zinc affects the original hydroxyapatite structure and changes the parameters of the crystal lattice. The materials obtained show antibacterial activity.
