The material was collected in three humid forests enclaves in the Caatinga biome, northeast of Brazil, and the samples were incubated in moist chambers to verify the occurrence of conidial fungi in four incubations periods: 1 (up to 10 days of incubation), 2 (11–20 days), 3 (21–30), and 4 (31–40 days). A total of 213 taxa were recorded. The species richness was similar in the three enclaves studied. Only two species occurred in all periods and more than one substrate:
Chloridium virescens
((Pers.) W. Gams & Hol.-Jech) occurred in the leaves and barks and
Ellisembia adscendens
((Berk.) Subram.) occurred in the barks and twigs. Nonmetric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) indicates that substrate was the most determinant factor for the fungal community composition compared with area and incubation periods. The result of analysis of similarity demonstrates that the groups formed in NMDS were significant. The succession on decaying leaves demonstrated the highest richness among the substrates studied. In the leaves, the major richness values were detected in the P1 period, while in the barks and twigs, the major richness values were detected in the P1 and P2 periods. Species richness decreases after 20 incubation days in all substrates. Cluster analysis indicates the formation of communities relating to incubation periods in the leaves. The results of this study demonstrated a fungal succession on plant debris during the incubation period.
Background and aims - A study of richness and diversity of conidial fungi associated with plant debris was conducted in three Atlantic Forest enclaves in the Caatinga biome: Serra da Jibóia-BA (SJ), ...Serra da Ibiapaba-CE (SI) and Brejo Paraibano-PB (BP). Methods
- The plant debris samples including leaves, twigs and barks were washed in running water, incubated in moist chambers and analysed for 40 days under a stereomicroscope. The fungal reproductive structures were transferred to slides containing PVL resin and identified with specialized
literature. Key results - The richness and diversity were similar in the three enclaves of interest. Cluster analysis using the Morisita similarity index indicated a group formed by fungal communities in SI and BP and another in SJ. Among these substrates, the leaves showed the
greatest richness whereas the bark samples had the greatest diversity but any differences were significant. Multivariate analysis via NMDS revealed differences in the fungal community composition with respect to the substrate and area, but the similarity analysis (ANOSIM) indicated that the
differences were significant only with respect to the substrate. Conclusions - The survey data showed the great richness and diversity of conidial fungi in the studied areas. The richness and diversity values in these areas and substrates were similar, and the differences were
not significant. Substrate was the most determinant factor for the distribution of fungi compared with area.
An undescribed hyphomycete collected during investigations of microfungi on dead plant material in a semi-arid region of northeast Brazil is described and illustrated as Diplococcium heteroseptatum ...sp. nov. The new fungus is distinguished by differentiated brown verruculose conidiophores
and oblong to cylindrical 0-12-heteroseptate (but mostly 1-septate) brown conidia.
A new helicosporous fungus, Helicosporium vesiculiferum, is described based on morphological characters. It was found on a decaying twig of an unidentified dicotyledonous plant from the semi-arid ...region, Northeast of Brazil. The new species is illustrated with light micrographs
and scanning electron microscopy. Helicosporium vesiculiferum is characterized by the presence of vesicles on apex of the conidiophores. Seven helicosporous species are briefly described, of which H. virescens and H. aureum are new records from Brazil, H. panacheum
and H. gracile are reported for the first time in South America, and H. nizamabadense is new for the American continent. A key to all Helicosporium species is included.
Os fungos conidiais desempenham importante papel em ecossistemas dulcícolas, sendo responsáveis pela decomposição de matéria orgânica. No bioma Caatinga, contudo, estudos abordando estes fungos ainda ...são incipientes. Neste estudo realizou-se um levantamento de fungos conidiais aquáticos associados a substratos vegetais submersos em ambientes lóticos, em um período de dois anos, em cinco áreas inseridas neste bioma (Brejo Paraibano-PB, APA da Chapada do Araripe e PARNA de Ubajara-CE, PARNA da Serra das Confusões-PI, Serra da Jibóia-BA). Foram identificadas 90 espécies distribuídas em 62 gêneros. Duas foram classificadas como ingoldianas, duas como aero-aquáticas, e 86 como aquático-facultativas. A área que apresentou o maior número de espécies foi o Brejo Paraibano com 34 espécies, e com o menor número foi a APA da Chapada do Araripe com 20. Quanto aos substratos vegetais, a lâmina foliar apresentou o maior número de espécies, com 63. A similaridade entre as áreas, segundo índice de Sørensen, foi considerada baixa, com valores inferiores a 50%. Os dados contribuem para o conhecimento da biodiversidade de fungos aquáticos no bioma Caatinga.

As infecções humanas por Coronavírus são conhecidas há décadas, em específico, a Síndrome Respiratória Aguda Grave (SARS) e a Síndrome Respiratória do Oriente Médio (MERS). Entretanto, a partir de ...2019, um novo coronavírus denominado de SARS-CoV-2 foi disseminado por vários países, tomando uma proporção sem precedentes. A partir disso, com o aumento no número de infectados e mortos em diferentes continentes, resultantes da epidemia em Março de 2020, a Organização Mundial Da Saúde (OMS) decretou oficialmente que o surto da doença se tratava de uma pandemia de caráter mundial. Realizar uma revisão de literatura acerca dos mecanismos de virulência do SARS-Cov-2, bem como as suas complicações acerca do prognóstico de pacientes portadores de Diabetes Mellitus. Foram realizadas buscas bibliográficas eletrônicas utilizando descritores previamente selecionados nas bases de dados Pubmed, Lilacs e Scielo que abordassem o tema proposto publicados no período de 2010 a 2021. Foram selecionados 08 artigos e os achados dos estudos demonstraram que o SARSCoV-2 gera diversas consequências nos pacientes com DM, uma vez propicia um ambiente inflamatório que resulta em infecções severas e de difícil tratamento. Portanto, pode-se verificar que a inflamação metabólica provocada pelo SARS-CoV-2 resulta em repercussões negativas no prognóstico de paciente portador de DM, dificultando assim, o processo de cura e recuperação do indivíduo, levando-o este a um pior desfecho.

O Vírus Epsein-Barr (EBV) pertence à família Herpesviridae, estima-se que se manifeste de maneira latente de 90-95% da população adulta e 40% da população infantil, é um dos sete vírus oncogênicos ...conhecidos pela humanidade, tem a capacidade de induzir diversas de outras patologias. Objetivos: Discorrer sobre o vírus fazendo alusão às principais características deste, abrangendo desde sua morfologia ao tratamento das doenças por ele influenciadas ou causadas. Metodologia: Foi empregada como técnica de pesquisa o levantamento bibliográfico de caráter sistemático, os critérios de inclusão foram: publicações em português, inglês ou espanhol, publicadas entre os anos de 2010-2020, em sua versão íntegra. Resultados: O período de transmissibilidade oral é de 18 meses, se aloja principalmente na glândula parótida (75 a 92%). A infecção pode ocorrer mais cedo em países com menor desenvolvimento socioeconômico, sem diferenças entre os sexos ou etnia. É capaz de infectar uma grande variedade de células, como epiteliais, linfócitos B, células NK e linfócitos T, indicando forte tendência de indução a doenças autoimunes, possui relação com uma extensa gama de cânceres (principalmente do sistema linfático e de cabeça e pescoço), as 3 principais patologias causadas pelo EBV são a Mononucleose Infecciosa, a Encefalite e a Síndrome de Alice no País das Maravilhas. Conclusão: O EBV é transmitido por contato orossexual e relacionado a diversas patologias e possui uma notável disseminação mundial, este artigo reuniu informações sobre o tratamento, o diagnóstico, a doença e o patógeno, contribuindo com a disseminação de informações relevantes sobre a temática.
