Assistive technology is a collective term that refers to assistive devices and services for people withdisabilities. The use of assistive technology in working with people with disabilities ...facilitates their learning and performance of activities of daily living. The knowledge and experience of experts is necessary for the selection, purchase, and use of assistive technology. For the purpose of this work, an online survey was conducted among experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina who had the opportunity to use and apply assistive technology through their work. The research participants (N=23) were educational rehabilitators, speech therapists, teachers, pedagogues, physiotherapists, and nurses. The online questionnaire consisted of 33 open and closed-ended questions. The data obtained were processed using quantitative and qualitative data processing methods. The aim of the research was to ask experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina about their experience with the use of assistive technology, their knowledge and attitudes, and the challenges they face in their work. The results show that assistive technology has not beenused for long in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that experts encounter many challenges in their work, such as financial problems, lack of technical support, and difficulties in working with parents. They also emphasize the need for more training in assistive technology.Keywords: assistive technology, experts, experience, knowledge, education.

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is one of the most economically important crops in the world due to its nutritional value. To optimize soybean growth and yield, a wide range of commercial herbicides ...intended for weed control in crops are used. Although the herbicides used are selective, they can still cause oxidative stress and disturb photosynthetic reactions in soybean crops. In this work, the influence of commercial selective herbicides for weed control on the photosynthetic efficiency and antioxidative response of two soybean cultivars was investigated. The parameters describing the photosynthetic performance of soybean were derived by measuring in vivo chlorophyll a fluorescence while the antioxidative response was evaluated by determining activities of the selected antioxidative enzymes and parameters of oxidative stress at different development stages. The results showed a different response of the two soybean cultivars to herbicide treatment. Both investigated soybean cultivars showed that herbicide treatment did not cause oxidative damage. However, they revealed different adaptation mechanisms of photosynthetic apparatus. A negative impact of herbicide application was observed mainly on the electron transport chain in both varieties.
This paper briefly describes the application of GIS in waste waters. It describes the major characteristics of GIS, as well as wastewater collection system and the reasons for the application of GIS ...in the analysis, modelling and display characteristics of drainage systems. There are described two programs based on GIS technology to analyse and monitor wastewater collection system. Also shown is the principle of selecting the location of device for purifying waste water, which is the ultimate element of the drainage system, using a GIS. In this way, it facilitated the process of selecting locations taking into account the various regulations, standards, as well as characteristics of the terrain and vegetation. GIS is used to monitor water quality even after treatment, which creates good conditions for its re-use. This was exemplified by the use of such treated water in irrigation and selection of suitable locations.Original Abstract: U radu je ukratko opisana primjena GIS-a u gospodarenju otpadnim vodama. Navedene su glavne karakteristike GIS-a, kao i sustava odvodnje otpadnih voda te razlozi primjene GIS-a pri analizi, modeliranju i prikazu karakteristika sustava odvodnje. Detaljnije su opisana dva programa bazirana na GIS tehnologiji za analizu i monitoring sustava odvodnje otpadnih voda. Prikazan je i princip odabira lokacije uredaja za prociscavanje otpadne vode, koji je krajnji element sustava odvodnje, pomocu GIS-a. Na taj je nacin olaksan sam postupak odabira lokacije uzimajuci u obzir razlicite propise, standarde, kao i karakteristike okolnog terena i vegetacije. GIS omogucuje i pracenje kvalitete vode i nakon prociscavanja cime se stvaraju dobri uvjeti za njeno ponovno koristenje. Naveden je primjer koristenja takve tretirane vode u navodnjavanju i odabiru prikladnih lokacija.
To analyze influence of variants in TYMS, MTHFR, SLC19A1 and DHFR genes on 6-mercaptopurine (MP) induced toxicity during maintenance phase of treatment for childhood acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).
...One-hundred twenty-seven children with ALL that received maintenance therapy were involved in this study. All patients were treated according to Berlin-Frankfurt-Muenster (BFM) based protocols. Myelotoxicity and hepatotoxicity were evaluated using surrogate markers (median 6-MP dose, number of leukopenic episodes and levels of bilirubin and transaminases on each visit).
Higher number of leukopenic episodes, as a surrogate marker of 6-MP myelotoxicity, was found in carriers of TYMS 3R3R and 3R4R genotypes (p=0.067) as well as in TYMS 3R6bp+ (28bp VNTR, 6bp indel) haplotype carriers (p=0.015). Carriers of DHFR CATAG (-680, -675, -556, -464, -317) haplotype were also found to have higher number of leukopenic episodes (p=0.070). SLC19A1 c.80A allele (p=0.079) and TYMS 2R6bp+ (5'UTR VNTR, 6bp indel) haplotype carriers (p=0.078) had fewer leukopenic episodes. No difference in genotype frequencies between the control group of volunteered blood donors and childhood ALL patients was found.
Variants in TYMS, SLC19A1 and DHFR genes are potential biomarkers of myelotoxicity and could be used for 6-MP therapy individualization in maintenance phase of childhood ALL treatment, alongside with well-established TPMT variants.

To investigate the effects of different types of hormone therapy on some haemostatic parameters.
This randomized, controlled study included 56 healthy, early postmenopausal women aged 46-58 years on different types of hormone therapy (tibolone 2.5 mg/day, 25 women, or CCHT 2 mg estradiol plus 1 mg norethisteron acetate, 31 women) and 20 healthy postmenopausal women of the same age receiving placebo. Effects of these 2 medicaments on some haemostasis parameters were measured 3 and 6 months after the onset of treatment.
Short-term use (3 months) of both tibolone and CCHT had a detrimental effect on antithrombin, protein C and protein S levels (decreased), and even more so in the group treated with CCHT. Plasminogen-activator inhibitor type 1 levels were decreased by both tibolone and CCHT, but more so by CCHT; thrombin-antithrombin complex were increased in both groups. There were no changes in haemostatic parameters between 3-month and 6-month treatment in any group.
Both therapeutic options are associated with an activation of thrombogenic and fibrinolytic markers within 3 months of use. Tibolone appears to produce a better balance between thrombogenesis and fibrinolysis. Since our results show a lower incidence of thrombotic events, further studies are required.
