Yb-doped Bi2WO6 nanomaterials were successfully synthesized using a mild hydrothermal method. Remarkably, Yb-doped Bi2WO6 photocatalysts exhibited a higher photocatalytic activity than pristine ...Bi2WO6 by degrading RhB under visible light irradiation. The optimum mass ratio of Yb to Bi2WO6 was 2.0%, and it presented the highest photo-degradation efficiency. The crystal structures, morphologies, surface chemical states, and optical properties of the as-synthesized photocatalysts were carried out by XRD, SEM, XPS and DRS, respectively. The results of electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, radical trapping experiments, photoluminescence spectroscopy and photocurrent measurements indicated that the Yb-doped Bi2WO6 samples produced more oxygen vacancies and superoxide anion active groups (.O2−), inhibited the recombination of the photo-generated electron-hole pairs, and enhanced the photo-degradation performance. As a result, the dopant Yb3+ could enhance photocatalytic performance of Bi2WO6 by introducing oxygen vacancies into its lattice. This study provides a useful strategy for developing effective visible light photocatalysts.
Under visible light irradiation, the mechanism of the enhancement photocatalytic performance of Yb–Bi2WO6 samples was proposed, which effected on forming the oxygen vacancies, enhancing the production of superoxide anion active radicals, inhibiting the recombination of photo-generated charge carriers. A remote stereocontrolled 1,8-conjugate addition of thiazolones to propargylic aza-p-quinone methides formed from propargylic alcohols has been developed with the aid of a chiral phosphoric acid, and ...this represents the first report on organocatalytic stereocontrolled 1,8-addition of propargylic aza-p-quinone methides. Notably, the remote stereocontrolled activation protocol enables the construction of vicinal sulfur-containing quaternary carbon stereocenters and axially chiral tetrasubstituted allenes and promotes the chemistry of chiral phosphoric acids.
This study is aimed to explore the role of miR-543 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and verify whether miR-543 targets metastasis associated protein 1 (MTA1) to affect tumorigenesis and ...angiogenesis in NSCLC.
Firstly, miR-543 mimic and inhibitor were transfected into A549 cells and H1299 cells. The cells proliferation was tested by MTT and clone formation. The cells apoptosis was analyzed by cytometry. Tube formation assay was used to measure the vascularization of cells. qRT-PCR and Western Blot were used to measure the MTA1 expression. Dual-luciferase assay was used to analyze whether miR-543 targets MTA1. Secondly, MTA1 mimic and inhibitor were transfected into cells to analyze the effect of MTA1 on proliferation and angiogenesis in NSCLC cells. Lastly, the nude mice were used to verify the effect of miR-543 on tumorigenesis and angiogeneisis in NSCLC via modulating MATA1.
miR-543 overexpression could apparently promote cells proliferation and angiogeneisis in NSCLC cells. Meanwhile, the MTA1 expression was increased after transfecting miR-543 mimic. Dual luciferase reporter assay revealed MTA1 was a downstream target of miR-543. Further studies showed that inhibition of MTA1 weakened the role of miR-543 overexpression in NSCLC cells. Vivo experiments revealed that miR-543 promoted cells proliferation and angiogenesis in tumor tissues via modulating MTA1.
miR-543 could target MTA1 to promote tumorigenesis and angiogenesis in NSCLC via targeting MTA1.
Radiation pneumonia and fibrosis are major clinical complications of radiotherapy for thoracic tumor patients, and may significantly reduce survival and quality of life. At present, no safe and ...effective radiation protection measures have been approved for clinical use. Phycocyanin, a protein responsible for photosynthesis from Spirulina, has been shown to have a variety of biological activities and to be beneficial for a variety of diseases, including pulmonary fibrosis. However, the preventive and protective effects of phycocyanin on radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis have not been studied.
X-ray single dose irradiation was used on the chest of mice to prepare a mouse model of pulmonary fibrosis, from which the effect of phycocyanin on pulmonary histopathologic change, pulmonary fibrosis, the microbiota in lung and gut, LPS, TNF-α, and IL-6 at different time after irradiation were evaluated.
Phycocyanin alleviated the radiation-induced lung injury and reduced the level of inflammatory factors. Thorax irradiation led to the disorder in microbiota of the lung and gut. The variation trend of the diversity of the two tissues was opposite, but that of the microbiota composition was similar. The phycocyanin intervention regulated the composition of the lung and gut microbiota, transformed them into normal state, and reduced the level of LPS, which significantly reduced the abundance of inflammation-related bacteria, and increased the abundance of probiotics that produce short-chain fatty acids.
Phycocyanin could regulate the radiation-induced disorder in lung and gut microbiota of mice, and reduce the radiation-induced lung inflammation and fibrosis.
• The prevalence of suicidal ideation in the past 12 months was 9.2% (576/6284).• Senior grade levels, dissatisfaction with motherly love, poor family relationship and parental marital status, having ...few friends and going to public entertainment venues were associated with suicidal ideation.• Smoking, sleep quality and depressive symptoms were associated with suicidal ideation.• Family factors had the most influence on suicidal ideation.• Depression symptoms were a crucial mediating factor between family factors, social interactions or daily habits and suicidal ideation.
The prevention of suicidal ideation plays a key role in reducing suicide rates. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of suicidal ideation among college students in Jilin Province, China, and to analyse the risk factors associated with suicidal ideation.
A total of 6284 valid data collection sheets were collected using the stratified cluster sampling method. The data collected were divided into four sections, namely, socio-demographic information, family and social interactions, daily habits, and mental health self-rating scales.
The prevalence of suicidal ideation in the past 12 months was 9.2%. A multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that being a senior (OR = 1.769, 95%CI:1.225–2.555), general family relationships (OR = 1.641, 95%CI:1.172–2.298), frequent parental quarrels (OR = 1.398, 95%CI:1.027–1.902)/parental separation (OR = 2.497, 95%CI:1.414–4.408), the level of satisfaction with motherly love (OR = 2.261, 95%CI:1.454–3.515), having only one or two friend(s) (OR = 1.530, 95%CI:1.038–2.254), frequent excursions to bars/ karaoke halls/ song and dance halls (OR = 1.673, 95%CI:1.257–2.229) or billiard halls with friends (OR = 1.865, 95%CI:1.270–2.740), smoking (OR = 2.175, 95%CI:1.603–2.951), moderate sleep quality (OR = 1.636, 95%CI:1.115–2.402), and depressive symptoms (OR = 2.078, 95%CI: 1.710–2.525) were risk factors for suicidal ideation. Family factors had the most influence on suicidal ideation, whereas depression symptoms were identified to be a mediating factor between family, social interactions, or daily habits and suicidal ideation, and it only exerted direct effects.
This cross-sectional study cannot provide causal interpretations.
Our findings showed the prevalence of suicidal ideation among college students in Jilin province. Among all the risk factors associated with suicidal ideation, family factors should be the main concern in the prevention of suicidal ideation, and interventions that target depression symptoms are key to reducing suicidal ideation.
Northern China’s grasslands have been losing productivity since the 1980s, when a policy known as the “grassland contracting policy” allocated commonly used grazing lands to individual herder ...households. Examined here is the connection between implementation of the grassland contracting policy and the loss of grassland production using the analytic concepts of ability to benefit and community failure. A gacha (village) of the Sunite Left Banner of the Xilingol League in Inner Mongolia is used as a case study to compare herder ability to benefit from rangeland resources during adverse climate events before and after policy implementation. Social-ecological resilience, access to social and ecological assets, and institutions supporting crisis relief have been affected. We find that the privatization of grassland use rights has weakened pastoralist ability to benefit from rangelands by weakening or dismantling what are identified as the rights-, structure-, and relations-based abilities that enabled pastoralists to cope with nonequilibrium conditions. This has led to a community failure that engenders feedbacks of increased impoverishment and environmental deterioration. The inflexible boundaries of quasi-private household property rights have caused the pastoral system to lose capacity to respond to drought and weather events through the flexibility of “otor” and other forms of herd movement, increasing vulnerability to environmental change.
Here we demonstrate a magnetic resonance coupling based wireless triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and fully self-powered wireless sensors. By integrating a microswitch and an inductor with the ...TENG, the pulsed voltage output is converted into a sinusoidal voltage signal with a fixed frequency. This can be transmitted wirelessly from the transmit coil to the resonant-coupled receiver coil with an efficiency of 73% for a 5 cm distance between the two coils (10 cm diameter). Analytic models of the oscillating and coupled voltage signals for the wireless energy transfer are developed, showing excellent agreement with the experimental results. A TENG of 40 × 50 mm
can wirelessly light up 70 LEDs or charge up a 15 μF capacitor to 12.5 V in ~90 s. The system is further utilized for two types of fully self-powered wireless chipless sensors with no microelectronic components. The technologies demonstrate an innovative strategy for a wireless 'green' power source and sensing.
PEGylation, covalent attaching polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymers to therapeutic agents, is one of the most promising techniques to improve the therapeutic effect of drugs. Initially, this technology ...is mainly applied with macromolecular drugs, such as proteins, enzymes, with ten PEGylated biomacromolecules approved by the FDA for the treatment of related diseases. The clinical successful use of PEGylated macromolecular drug has promoted the application of this technology with small molecules drugs to overcome shortcomings associated with therapy, such as possible low solubility, high toxicity, undesirable pharmaceutical characteristics and nonspecific biodistribution profiles. So far, four PEGylated small drugs have been taken into clinical trials. This review mainly focuses on the recent advances of PEGylated small molecules, including their general configuration, and the current merits and limits of PEG modification. Herein PEG delivery systems are distinguished by therapeutic application (anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, etc.) and their corresponding PEGylated small molecules are described in detail.
