The Klampok Sub-watershed flows in the Semarang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, located in the upstream part of the Jragung Watershed, used as a source of irrigation. Klampok Sub-watershed ...experiences environmental pressures in the form of decreasing water quality because of various human activities. For this reason, this study aims to determine the changes in the water quality and pollution index of the Klampok Sub-watershed in 2016 and 2020. The water quality observations were carried out in 2020 utilizing the Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Nitrate, Zinc (Zn) and Copper (Cu) parameters. The laboratory analysis results were compared with water quality standards based on Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 and the status of water quality based on the pollution index method under the Decree of the Minister of the Environment Number 115 of 2003. The study results showed a change in the quality and index of water pollution in 2016 and 2020. The study results revealed a decrease in the value of water quality on the parameters BOD, COD, Zn and Cu, which indicated that the water quality was improving. Moreover, the Klampok Sub-watershed pollution index decreased in 2016 and 2020 so that the Klampok Sub-watershed had quality criteria for lightly polluted water to moderately polluted to lightly polluted at each sampling point. Therefore, several efforts to control pollution and management of the Klampok Sub-watershed, such as community outreach, water quality monitoring and industrial compliance, are expected to improve so that the Klampok Sub-watershed's sustainability can provide various benefits to the community.
Analytical thinking is a fundamental skill in education and which needs to be developed. This research would describe the effectiveness of process-oriented guided ınquiry learning (POGIL) to improve ...students’ analytical thinking skills on the topic of excretory system. This study used Research and Development (R&D) design. It was conducted on the 11th grade students of senior high school in Ngawi, East Java in 2017/2018 academic year with one group pre-test and post-test design. The data collection techniques used were validation, observation, and test. The data were analyzed descriptively, whereby the analysis result was tested with the Gain test. The result showed that the students’ analytical thinking skills was significantly increased as stated by the N-gain score. In control class, there were 2 students (6.7%) whose N-gain score was in the low category, 25 students (83.3%) whose N-gain score was in the medium category, and 3 students (10%) whose N-gain score was in the high category. In the experimental class, there were 21 students (70%) who got N-gain score in the medium category, and 9 students (30%) who got N-gain score in the high category. The results of this research showed that the students analytical thinking skills were different after the implementation of POGIL method. Therefore, it could be concluded that the POGIL was effective to improve students’ analytical thinking skills on the excretory system in senior high school. The information obtained from this research can be used as a tool to improve students’ analytical thinking skills.
Land conversion has caused the function of the greenbelt for reservoir to be less effective. The management of the greenbelt area is needed to maintain the primary function of the reservoir. ...Therefore, a vegetation analysis in the greenbelt area is necessary to evaluate the condition of the existing vegetation and community attitude to maintain the greenbelt area. This study aims at identifying the current condition of the greenbelt area and the diversity of vegetation as well as the community attitude at the greenbelt area of multipurpose reservoir of Wonogiri. Vegetation sampling was done by purposive sampling using directed line quadrant method, while community attitude sampling was performed using in-depth interviews. This study found 14 species of vegetation in the greenbelt area. The most significant contribution of vegetation species was shown by the Importance Value Index (IVI), with 14 species of tree in which teak (Tectona grandis L.) was the species with the highest IVI value. The species diversity index was 1.15-1.7 and it was included in the medium category. Reforestation efforts can be continued because the vegetation condition has shown moderate stability. Community attitudes towards the greenbelt largely support the existence of management although people still and will use the land without disturbing the existing plants. The reforestation program that has been carried out in the last few years is expected to be able to restore the greenbelt in support of the reservoir function.
Students’ conceptual understanding on Respiratory System Material has to be assessed. This is a research and development study aims to develop a two-tier multiple-choice (TTMC) test to assess ...students' conceptual understanding on Respiratory System Material on 11th grade. Modified Borg and Gall’s (R&D) research design was used in this research. A preliminary study was conducted to analyse teacher and student needs about instrument assessment. Instrument validation was carried out to expert judgment and 90 of 11th grade students of SMA N Gondangrejo were selected by random sampling. The validation result shows that validation of material, construct, and practitioners expert are very good. Statistical validation using Rasch model shows that there is no item bias in terms of gender, 20 items are valid, person reliability 0.73, item reliability 0.89, item difficulty divided into four categories (very easy, easy, hard, very hard), and based on person separation and item separation the TTMC instrument was developed consists of 4 categories items to assess 3 categories respondent (understanding, misconception, not understanding). The percentage of students’ conceptual understanding on Respiratory System Material shows that 37,7% students understood the concept, 41,6% students had misconceptions, and 20,7% students who don’t understand the concept.
Writing history about one’s own country is much easier than documenting the same diaspora in a foreign land. As it happened somewhere, most of their stories might go unnoticed, neglected or censored. ...It is the greatness of any writer to depict the antiquities with all possible facts without hurting the sentiments of the natives of those nations. One such genuine attempt was made by Indian-origin Tanzanian writer M.G.Vasanji. His memoir “And Home Was Kariako” is the best example for displaying us the predicament of the Indian diaspora on the Tanzanian soil. In this research we testify those alienations, migrations, dispossessions and ordeals of Indian migrants in East Africa are actualities which were little noticed by the rest of the world. To manifest those certitudes, the authors of the research referred number of other articles, books and visited some of the places which were mentioned by M.G. Vasanji in his book. We then wrapped up by canvassing Vasanji’s “And Home Was Kariakoo: A memoir by An Indian African” is a testimony to know the adversities of Asian aliens in East Africa.
The prevalence and incidence of NAFLD is rising due to the obesity pandemic, caused by the widespread availability of ultra-processed foods and the decrease of physical activity. Factors such as ...socioeconomic status (SES), ethnicity and geographical location are associated with NAFLD, with lower SES correlating with higher incidence, particularly in regions like America or Europe. Beside the quality of food, the quantity also plays a crucial role. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a Mediterranean diet with a balanced energy intake. Since no hard medical treatment is available for NAFLD, lifestyle adjustments are key. Patient empowerment by providing relevant information and co-ownership of the therapy will increase the implementation rate and enhance the quality of medical follow-up and medication adherence, as studies report a good adherence to medication among patients who are well-aware of the severity of their disease. Regarding sustainability, patients with NAFLD have a high load of ambulatory follow-up, which, since the COVID-19 pandemic, can be partially provided by teleconsulting. Both patients’ lifestyle modifications and healthcare practitioners’ therapeutical strategy can decrease the carbon footprint.
