Purpose – this paper aims to examine the factors that affect the acceptance and use of the Manufacturing Execution System from the point of view of end users, using the Unified Theory of Acceptance ...and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model.Theoretical framework - The technology acceptance model is based on principles adopted in the attitude paradigm of psychology, which specifies how to measure the relevant attitudinal components of behavior; distinguishes beliefs and attitudes and specific as external stimuli, the objective characteristics of an attitude object, are causally linked to beliefs, attitudes and behavior.Design/methodology/approach - Data were collected by the survey method, using the seven-point Likert scale. The approach was quantitative, using the Structural Equation Modeling technique, using SPSS V.25 software.Findings - The findings of this study showed that the Facilitating Conditions influence the Usage Behavior of users of the Manufacturing Execution System. The application of multi-group comparison analysis (MGA) showed that Effort Expectancy positively influences Behavioral Intention and Social Influence also positively affects Behavioral Intention.Research, Practical & Social implications - The study brings relevant contributions in relation to aspects of understanding about the level of acceptance of MES end users in the operation phase.Originality/value - This paper makes a contribution to the literature due to the pioneering nature of the research, since no research was found in academic bases that address the use of UTAUT with the MES system. Another important contribution is that this study proposes a new model, based on UTAUT using the application of MGA.Keywords - Acceptance and Use. Technology. Manufacturing Execution System.
Purpose This research aims to identify the optimal configuration of investment which leads firms to their best competitive positions, considering the degree of concentration in the market. ...Design/methodology/approach The methodology was quantitative and based on secondary data with samples of 124, 106 and 90 firms from competitive environment classified as perfect competition, monopolistic competition and oligopoly, respectively. Proposed models' parameters were estimated by means of genetic algorithms. Findings Adjustments on firm's investment are contingent on the degree of competition they face. Results are in line with existing academic research affirmation that the purpose of investments is to create and exploit opportunities for positive economic rents and that investments allow firms to protect from rivals' competitive actions and reinforce the need for investment decision makers to consider the environment in which the firm is competing, when defining the amount of investment that must be done to achieve and maintain a favorable competitive advantage position. Originality/value This research brings two main original contributions. The first one is the identification of the optimal amount of capital and R&D investments which leads firms to their best competitive positions, contingent to the degree of concentration of the competitive environment in which they operate, and the size of the firm. The second one is related to the use of genetic algorithms to estimate optimization models that considers the three competitive environments studied (perfect competition, monopolistic competition and oligopoly) and the investment variables in the linear and quadratic forms.

The productivity of wood harvesting operations is one of the main viability indicators of the forestry enterprise, which is directly influenced by land, population, and operational planning ...characteristics. The variables that affect the productivity of harvesting machines are particularly difficult to measure and have complex relationships, making it challenging to predict the productivity of operations. This study generated a model using machine learning (ML) techniques to estimate harvesting productivity in Eucalyptus plantations in southeastern Brazil. The input variables for modelling harvesting productivity were the average individual tree volumes, wood volume in the stand, cutting age, spacing, operator experience, and the management regime. The database was randomly divided into training (70%) and validation (30%) datasets. Boosted, artificial neural network (ANN), and adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) techniques were used to fit the model and were evaluated through statistics and graphical analysis of the residues. The configurations selected for training and validation to estimate harvester productivity resulted in correlation coefficient values greater than 0.9, and root-mean-square error (RMSE) percentages less than 12.41, indicating a strong correlation and high accuracy between the estimates and the observed values. The boosted technique yielded the best results, with correlation coefficients of 0.98 and 0.97, and RMSE percentages of 6.15 and 6.65 in training and validation, respectively. The worst performance for estimating harvesting productivity was obtained using the ANFIS technique. ML techniques were efficient in modelling the productivity of mechanised forest cutting with a harvesting model.
Abstract The environment in which organizations operate is shown increasingly complex and competitive, leading companies to structure themselves in order to get quick, flexible and innovative responses. Projects are important instruments for promoting change and development. Since the 1990s, it’s been intensified in organizations the creation of the Projects Managements Offices, accepted by executive, which is the central point of support within the organization, so that work oriented by projects will be completed within the constraints of the business. The international research indicates the Project Management Office as a focus of interest, since the results found have not yet reached the answers needed to help professionals to solve their problems. This paper aims to evaluate the performance of the Project Management Office, from the constructs: “implementation strategies”, “capacitation and personnel training” and “control of the operations environment in projects”. The approach was a quantitative research in a single cross-sectional study and the conceptual model was examined with Structural Equation Modeling. The results indicate the degree of influence of constructs on Project Management Office performance, and people, is the most significant predictor, followed by strategies and finally operations.
Although forest fires are indispensable for some ecosystems, they can have profound economic, environmental, and social implications, especially when they reach high intensities. There are two ...crucial factors in fighting forest fires: the availability of water resources and the service network. The objective of this study was to propose an alternative methodology for allocating water reservoirs to fight forest fires. The research was divided into three stages: zoning of fire risk, delimitation of viable areas for the implementation of water reservoirs, and determining strategic locations for reservoir allocation. The variables analyzed were land use and occupation, provision of watercourses, relief orientation, slope, proximity to roads, temperature, and precipitation. Fuzzy logic, Euclidean distance, and network analysis were used as the modeling techniques. Scenarios with all risk classes and only the high- and very high-risk classes were analyzed. A total of 66% of the area was represented by the low- and moderate-risk fire classes and 53.16% had a low potential for reservoir allocation, influenced by the low availability of water resources in the area. The proposed model efficiently allocated the water collection points in the different scenarios, and allowed the determination of the areas most susceptible to the occurrence of forest fires and the optimal locations for the installation of reservoirs, with the allocation of 21 water reservoirs to attend the areas of high- and very high-risk of occurrence of fires at a safe speed (40 km h−1) and 47 reservoirs to meet all risk classes at the same speed. The proposed methodology is feasible, applicable, and adjustable and can be implemented in other conservation units and areas of economic interest.

PurposeThe main goal of this paper is to systematically evaluate the bibliographic production on neuromarketing from 1945 to 2018, with an emphasis on consumer behavior, to identify possible ...convergence of interests among health and marketing fields.Design/methodology/approachThis article was based on a systematic literature review (SLR) with the intention of investigating research related to neuromarketing by means of network analysis of citations.FindingsThe research reveals that there are formed networks in the health and management areas, but they are insufficient to enhance the neuromarketing results. Ethics has been mentioned in some studies, but the maps do not suggest that it is a developing field. Similar results can be seen within the sales area that can be capitalized on by research of gains related to consumer behavior.Research limitations/implicationsOne limitation of this study was the use of only one database (Web of Science®) that published several works from 1945 to the present time, but certainly has not exhausted the possibilities of research in the area.Originality/valueThis article helped to highlight the importance of ethics in clinical and business processes using neuroimaging, which could be an easy way to understand the behavioral and physiological mechanisms.
