Objective The purpose of the current research is to examine the effect of functional fatigue protocol on the outcomes of functional movement screening test in professional female volleyball players. ...Methods In this research, the population included 40 professional active female volleyball players of premier league who had at least three years of experience in playing volleyball aging from 16 to 20 years, who were chosen as convenience sampling and were included in one group. All 40 test subjects took 12 test items in form of pre-test in which all the subjects' movements were observed and scored by the researcher. Immediately after the test, the subjects performed the functional fatigue protocol defined by Sasco and Vickins. After performing the fatigue protocol, the functional screening test for volleyball was taken again. Results The obtained results from the research shows that performing the fatigue protocol has a meaningful effect on total grades obtained on functional movement screening tests for volleyball players (P≤0.05). Conclusion The findings of this study show that in order to identify changes in the movement pattern, it is necessary to examine the screening of volleyball athletes in the state of fatigue. Identifying changes in the quality of movement in volleyball athletes in a fatigued state shows that screening of the athletes should also be done when they are in a fatigue state, so that it may be possible to identify movement patterns that may lead to injury.
Introduction: Headache is a common problem with intense side effects on quality of life. Dental and maxillofacial problems, including dental infections and temporomandibular disorders may trigger the ...onset of headache or have direct impact on the intensity of headache. The purpose of this paper is assessment of oral health indexes in chronic headache patients and compare it with a healthy control group.
Material & Methods: Thirty chronic headache patients based on diagnosis by a neurologist were enrolled in our study and thirty healthy volunteers were recruited into the control group. Dental and periodontal examination were carried out in order to evaluate of the decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT) index, the assessment of community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN) index and determination of tooth wear status and oral health status. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS statistical package (version 20, IBM).
Results: Mean age, educational level, tooth brushing, using dental floss and DMFT index was not statistically different between chronic headache patients and control group. There was no statistically significant difference in CPITN index between cases and control group (p-value=0.538).
Conclusion: This study suggest that chronic headache patients have an acceptable oral hygiene which may be attribute to their attempts to omit pain from head and oral region. Considering high prevalence of chronic headache, planning a protocol for oral hygiene instruction is necessary. In this regard, coordination between neurologists and oral medicine specialists can be very effective.
Background: Transvaginal ultrasound is one of the most common means to examine endometrial cavity lesions although its negative results are more valuable. Saline sonohysterography can reduce the ...number of false negative rates of endometrial lesions diagnoses in Tamoxifen consumers. The Objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic values of saline infusion sonohysterography (SIS) and hysteroscopy as gold standard in diagnosis of endometrial pathologies in patients with breast cancer receiving adjuvant therapy with Tamoxifen for at least 6 months. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 40 patients with breast cancer who were treated with for at least 6 months and referred by the gynecologist for evaluation. Age, duration of Tamoxifen use and symptoms were recorded. Patients were examined by saline sonohysterography. Ultrasonic endometrial findings were recorded. Patients with positive findings were referred for hysteroscopy and biopsy was taken for pathologic examination. Then we compared the results. Results: In total, 40 patients with a mean age of 46.5±7.81 years and mean duration of Tamoxifen treatment 18.4 ±13.98 months were included. There were intrauterine lesions in 22 patients and they did not undergo hysteroscopy. For others, 9 patients with endometrial polyp (21.41%), 3 patients with endometrial hyperplasia (7.14%) were found. The accuracy of SSH in diagnosing endometrial polyp, endometrial hyperplasia and submucosal fibroma were 87.5%, 92.5% ,97.5%, respectively. Conclusions: Saline sonohysterography is a viable option for screening of the patients instead of endometrial biopsy as it has great negative predictive value. Sonohysterography is easy, non-invasive, inexpensive and has great accuracy.
