Antecedentes: la implementación de medidas de salud pública como la cuarentena o el aislamiento son estrategias útiles para el control de una enfermedad; no obstante, también traen consecuencias ...sobre la salud mental. Objetivos: describir la prevalencia de síntomas de ansiedad y depresión en adultos de Lima Metropolitana, durante el periodo de aislamiento social en respuesta a la pandemia del COVID-19. Método: se utilizaron ítems de la Escala de Ansiedad de Lima EAL-20 y de la Escala de Psicopatología Depresiva EPD-6 en una muestra de 565 adultos que residen en Lima Metropolitana durante el Estado de Emergencia Sanitaria. Resultados: se identificó la prevalencia de síntomas relacionados a la ansiedad y depresión. Además, se encontraron diferencias en función del sexo, edad, nivel educativo, y la modalidad del trabajo o estudio. Conclusiones: el aislamiento obligatorio implica la prevalencia de síntomas de ansiedad y depresión en adultos de Lima Metropolitana, los cuales se manifiestan de diferentes formas al considerar variables sociodemográficas. Esto es congruente con estudios a nivel internacional, por lo que deberían considerarse al tomar decisiones ligadas a políticas públicas de salud.

SUMMARY ANSWER
Many patients seek to have selected embryos with PGT-A abnormal trophectoderm biopsies transferred recognizing that these embryos can still offer a chance of pregnancy and live birth.
WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY
: PGT-A is a widely practiced method of selecting embryos for transfer based on biopsy of a few cells. Many clinical practices refuse to transfer PGT-A abnormal embryos even when there are no other ‘normal’ embryos available.
STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION
This is a prospective cohort of 69 couples who, since 2014, moved a total of 444 PGT-A abnormal embryos previously refused transfer at their parent institutions to our practice. Among these, 50 patients have, thus far, undergone 57 transfer cycles of 141 embryos.
PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS
Embryos diagnosed at other institutions by PGT-A as abnormal (mostly using next generation sequencing) were moved to our academically affiliated private fertility and research center in New York City. Female age at retrieval was 41.35 ± 3.98 years, 74% were Caucasian, 12% Asian and 10% were of African descent. All embryos identified as PGT-A abnormal among prospectively identified couples were recorded in our center’s registry.
MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE
Among the 144 embryos transferred 102 (72.3%) had only 1 or 2 chromosomal abnormalities, 30 (21.3%) had 3 or more and 9 (6.4%) were ‘undiagnosed’ because of degraded DNA, yet still had been refused transfer. Transfer of PGT-A abnormal embryos resulted in 8 live births, 11 miscarriages and no voluntary terminations. One child was born with a segmental duplication and required repair of coarctation of the aorta as a newborn. Many couples with only PGT-A abnormal embryos are willing to have their PGT-A abnormal embryos transferred and such transfers can result in the establishment of ongoing euploid pregnancies and live births.
LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION
Findings in this case series represent couples who chose to have their embryos transferred after having been refused transfer elsewhere and may not be representative of the wider population of couples undergoing IVF with PGT-A in general. Not all abnormal phenotypes present in the immediate postnatal period so it will be important to continue to follow the development of these children.
WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS
PGT-A can result in a clinics refusal to transfer embryos with abnormal PGT-A biopsies, even those with mosaic findings, consequently large numbers of infertile women are prematurely advised that their only chance of motherhood is through third-party egg-donation.

El síndrome de burnout es un indicador de salud ocupacional que afecta el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje y puede perjudicar la calidad educativa ofrecida por las instituciones. La relación entre ...características individuales y el ambiente laboral pueden afectar de distintas formas al desempeño docente. La presente investigación busca analizar el ajuste de un modelo que predice el desempeño docente en base al síndrome de burnout, incluyendo también características individuales y de percepción del ambiente laboral en docentes universitarios. La muestra se compone de 94 docentes, quienes brindaron información ligada al rasgo de conciencia, el nivel de burnout, de engagement, de su desempeño docente y de su percepción del ambiente laboral. Esta investigación de tipo transversal cuantitativa genera modelos de ecuaciones estructurales para revisar sus hipótesis. El segundo modelo es el que mejor ajuste muestra, considerando el desempeño a través de cada componente por separado. Este modelo muestra que el principal predictor del desempeño docente es la percepción del ambiente laboral (β = .116 - .239). Se discuten las implicancias de los hallazgos, prestando especial atención a la naturaleza del constructo de desempeño.
ABSTRACT
Stellar magnetic activity produces time-varying distortions in the photospheric line profiles of solar-type stars. These lead to systematic errors in high-precision radial-velocity ...measurements, which limit efforts to discover and measure the masses of low-mass exoplanets with orbital periods of more than a few tens of days. We present a new data-driven method for separating Doppler shifts of dynamical origin from apparent velocity variations arising from variability-induced changes in the stellar spectrum. We show that the autocorrelation function (ACF) of the cross-correlation function used to measure radial velocities is effectively invariant to translation. By projecting the radial velocities on to a subspace labelled by the observation identifiers and spanned by the amplitude coefficients of the ACF’s principal components, we can isolate and subtract velocity perturbations caused by stellar magnetic activity. We test the method on a 5-yr time sequence of 853 daily 15-min observations of the solar spectrum from the HARPS-N instrument and solar-telescope feed on the 3.58-m Telescopio Nazionale Galileo. After removal of the activity signals, the heliocentric solar velocity residuals are found to be Gaussian and nearly uncorrelated. We inject synthetic low-mass planet signals with amplitude K = 40 cm s−1 into the solar observations at a wide range of orbital periods. Projection into the orthogonal complement of the ACF subspace isolates these signals effectively from solar activity signals. Their semi-amplitudes are recovered with a precision of ∼ 6.6 cm s−1, opening the door to Doppler detection and characterization of terrestrial-mass planets around well-observed, bright main-sequence stars across a wide range of orbital periods.
Abstract
The time-variable velocity fields of solar-type stars limit the precision of radial-velocity determinations of their planets’ masses, obstructing detection of Earth twins. Since 2015 July, ...we have been monitoring disc-integrated sunlight in daytime using a purpose-built solar telescope and fibre feed to the HARPS-N stellar radial-velocity spectrometer. We present and analyse the solar radial-velocity measurements and cross-correlation function (CCF) parameters obtained in the first 3 yr of observation, interpreting them in the context of spatially resolved solar observations. We describe a Bayesian mixture-model approach to automated data-quality monitoring. We provide dynamical and daily differential-extinction corrections to place the radial velocities in the heliocentric reference frame, and the CCF shape parameters in the sidereal frame. We achieve a photon-noise-limited radial-velocity precision better than 0.43 m s−1 per 5-min observation. The day-to-day precision is limited by zero-point calibration uncertainty with an RMS scatter of about 0.4 m s−1. We find significant signals from granulation and solar activity. Within a day, granulation noise dominates, with an amplitude of about 0.4 m s−1 and an autocorrelation half-life of 15 min. On longer time-scales, activity dominates. Sunspot groups broaden the CCF as they cross the solar disc. Facular regions temporarily reduce the intrinsic asymmetry of the CCF. The radial-velocity increase that accompanies an active-region passage has a typical amplitude of 5 m s−1 and is correlated with the line asymmetry, but leads it by 3 d. Spectral line-shape variability thus shows promise as a proxy for recovering the true radial velocity.
Super-Earths belong to a class of planet not found in the Solar system, but which appear common in the Galaxy. Given that some super-Earths are rocky, while others retain substantial atmospheres, ...their study can provide clues as to the formation of both rocky and gaseous planets, and – in particular – they can help to constrain the role of photoevaporation in sculpting the exoplanet population. GJ 9827 is a system already known to host three super-Earths with orbital periods of 1.2, 3.6, and 6.2 d. Here, we use new HARPS-N radial velocity measurements, together with previously published radial velocities, to better constrain the properties of the GJ 9827 planets. Our analysis cannot place a strong constraint on the mass of GJ 9827 c, but does indicate that GJ 9827 b is rocky with a composition that is probably similar to that of the Earth, while GJ 9827 d almost certainly retains a volatile envelope. Therefore, GJ 9827 hosts planets on either side of the radius gap that appears to divide super-Earths into pre-dominantly rocky ones that have radii below ∼1.5Rꚛ, and ones that still retain a substantial atmosphere and/or volatile components, and have radii above ∼2Rꚛ. That the less heavily irradiated of the three planets still retains an atmosphere, may indicate that photoevaporation has played a key role in the evolution of the planets in this system.

Can RNA sequencing of human cumulus cells (CC) reveal molecular pathways involved in the physiology of reproductive aging?

Shifts in socioeconomic norms are resulting in larger numbers of women postponing childbearing. The reproductive potential is sharply decreased with aging, and the reasons are poorly understood. Since CCs play an integral role in oocyte maturation and direct access to human oocytes is limited, we used whole transcriptome analysis of these somatic cells to gain insights into the molecular mechanisms playing a role in follicular senescence.
Twenty CC samples (from a total of 15 patients) were obtained from oocytes of either male factor or egg donor patients. RNA sequencing and bioinformatic tools were used to identify differentially expressed genes between CCs from seven aged and eight young patients (<35 (years old) y.o. vs >40 y.o.). Quantitative-PCR and immunoflourescent staining were used for validation.
RNA sequencing identified 11 572 genes expressed in CC of both age cohorts, 45 of which were differentially expressed. In CC collected from patients >40 y.o., genes involved in the hypoxia stress response (NOS2, RORA and NR4A3), vasculature development (NR2F2, PTHLH), glycolysis (RALGAPA2 and TBC1D4) and cAMP turnover (PDE4D) were significantly overexpressed when compared with CC of patients younger than 35 y.o.
This study focused almost exclusively on assessing the genetic differences in CC transcriptome between young and older women. These genetic findings were not fully correlated with embryonic development and clinical outcome.
Our data provide a new hypothesis-follicular hypoxia-as the main mechanism leading to ovarian follicular senescence and suggest a link between cumulus cell aging and oocyte quality decay. If specific molecular findings of hypoxia would be confirmed also in oocytes, genetic platforms could screen CC for hypoxic damage and identify healthier oocytes. Protocols of ovarian stimulation in older patients could also be adjusted to diminish oocyte exposure time to hypoxic follicles.

A classical atomistic force field to describe the interaction of proteins with gold (111) surfaces in explicit water has been devised. The force field is specifically designed to be easily usable in ...most common bio-oriented molecular dynamics codes, such as GROMACS and NAMD. Its parametrization is based on quantum mechanical (density functional theory DFT and second order Möller-Plesset perturbation theory MP2) calculations and experimental data on the adsorption of small molecules on gold. In particular, a systematic DFT survey of the interaction between Au(111) and the natural amino acid side chains has been performed to single out chemisorption effects. Van der Waals parameters have been instead fitted to experimental desorption energy data of linear alkanes and were also studied via MP2 calculations. Finally, gold polarization (image charge effects) is taken into account by a recently proposed procedure (Iori, F.; Corni, S. J Comp Chem 2008, 29, 1656). Preliminary validation results of GolP on an independent test set of small molecules show the good performances of the force field.
Among the members of the transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) family, molybdenum disulfide has the most consolidated application outcomes in tribological fields. However, despite the growing usage ...as nanostructured solid lubricant due to its lamellar structure, little is known about the atomistic interactions taking place at the interface between two MoS2 sliding layers, especially at high loads. By means of ab initio modeling of the static potential energy surface and charge distribution analysis, we demonstrate how electrostatic interactions, negligible in comparison with van der Waals and Pauli contributions at zero load, progressively affect the sliding motion at increasing loads. As such, they discriminate the relative stability and the frictional behavior of bilayers where the two monolayers defining the interface have a different relative orientation. In particular, for antiparallel sliding layers we observed a load-induced increase of both the depth of the minima and the height of the energy barriers compared to parallel ones, which may have important consequences for the fabrication of more efficient ultralow friction devices at the nanoscale.
