Verapamil was encapsulated with ethylcellulose (EC) and cellulose acetate (CA) in various ratios of drug and polymer by the hot melt technique and the prepared microcapsules were evaluated for size ...range, drug content, drug release profiles, and kinetics of drug release. The microcapsules were compressed into tablets to study the variation of drug release between the 2 types of formulations (ie, microcapsules and tablets). The size analysis of prepared microcapsules was done by a standard sieving method and in vitro dissolution studies were carried out in USP XXI dissolution test apparatus in 0.1 N HCl as dissolution media to study the drug release profiles of the microcapsules. Scanning electron microscopy studies were carried out to investigate the surface characteristics of the microcapsules prepared from both type of polymers. Drug release profiles from the compressed non-disintegrating matrix tablets prepared from the microcapsules were also investigated. All the microcapsules were discrete, free flowing, and reproducible with respect to size distribution and drug content. Maximum percentage of the microcapsules belonged to the size range of 35/50. Drug release durations of VERCA1 (drug: CA 3:1), VERCA2 (drug: CA 2:1), and VERCA3 (drug: CA 1:1) microcapsules were extended up to 3, 5, and 6 hours, respectively, and those of VEREC1 (drug: EC 3:1), VEREC2 (drug: EC 2:1), and VEREC3 (drug: EC 1:1) microcapsules were extended up to 4, 5, and 7 hours, respectively. The microcapsules of both types having a drug:polymer ratio of 1:1 had the slowest release rate in their respective categories. The microcapsules were compressed into nondisintegrating matrix tablets. The hardness of the tablets was tested using the Monsanto Hardness Tester and was found to be 6-7 kg/cm. All the tablets contained the drug verapamil within 100% +/- 5%. The drug release data of both the microcapsules and tablets prepared were examined kinetically, and the ideal kinetic model was determined for the drug release. The tablets prepared by compressing the microcapsule formulations were more satisfactory in releasing the drug at a controlled and uniform rate following Higuchian kinetics and the formulations VCACRT3 and VECCRT3 were able to control release of drug up to 12 hours. Thus, it is possible to formulate a single-unit, controlled-release dosage form of verapamil for oral administration at least once every 12 hours using the polymers CA and EC.

Social media plays a very important role in every person's life today. The user-friendly features of social media have made it gain a large amount of importance in today's world. Social media ...platforms like Facebook, twitter and Instagram have paved their way to connect people regionally, locally and internationally because distance is not a barrier. Social media has increased its importance by providing employment to people all over the world. However, as every coin has two sides, social media also has a number of disadvantages among which security is the most important one to be considered for the purpose of resolution. Cybercrimes and phishing scams play vital role in obstructing the security on social media wherein it is most commonly found to be carried using twitter platform. Due to the presence of large number of users, hackers use twitter bots in order to circulate malicious URLs which acts as an entry point into the target system. Twitter bots make tweets at a frequency much higher than that of a human account on twitter and hence can be used in order to send the malicious URLs to people. Hence, in order to prevent this spread of malicious URLs among the people we have come up with a system which will initially classify the account as a twitter bot account and then we will check whether it is a malicious bot or not and will report to twitter in case it is malicious in nature.
Dense IoT implementations incur heavy data load on the implemented networks. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a low-latency method of increasing the packet throughput in agricultural IoT ...implementations. The proposed method envisions removal of node identifiers from packets before transmission and predictive packet-source mapping method within the edge layer of an agrarian Internet of Things (IoT) implementation. The edge layer following a master-slave architecture. Pre-trained lightweight machine learning models at the edge identify the origin of the incoming packets based on the long-term learned collective variations of the sensorial values from the slave node. This reduction in packets significantly frees up time-slots at the receiving master node, allowing for more simultaneous connections to it. This intra-edge packet origin mapping scheme is further compared with the approach of edge node identification at a remote server to adjudge the tradeoffs between accuracy and latency of transmission. The proposed method doubles the amount of sensor data transmitted between the slave to master nodes with significant energy savings over longer duration and increases the data throughput by approximately 1.5 times between the master node and the remote server for our implementation. The proposed method estimates energy savings in the order of 20 watts for a deployment setup of 100 nodes over a year. The energy savings over densely deployed IoT networks can be utilized to accommodate more nodes and increase the lifetime of the network.

Fuzzy measure is an extension to the classical measure theory with promising applications in various areas. Some generalized HMMs have been developed with fuzzy measures for the speech recognition problem. The well known algorithms used for HMMs are thereby shown to execute faster. In this article, we discuss the classical and fuzzy measure formulation of HMMs, followed by applications in speech recognition using fuzzy measures. We also indicate the possible scope for their application to Bioinformatics.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
