Green lacewings can be mass reared to market their eggs. The ideal temperature is a main factor for egg storage or scheduling of insect production. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of ...Ceraeochrysa cubana adult feeding on incubation period and feasibility off eggs storage under different temperatures. Adults were submitted to four artificial diets: honey + brewer's yeast (standard diet), molasses + brewer's yeast, honey + bee pollen and molasses + bee pollen. Incubation period was recorded keeping eggs at six different temperatures: 21, 23, 25, 27, 29 and 31 °C. requirements. We determined the duration of the incubation period and egg feasibility of C. cubana. In addition, we estimated the base temperature (Tb) and thermal threshold (K) for the green lacewing incubation. Regardless of diet, incubation period decreases according to increased temperature, which is indicated between 21 and 29 °C for better development and egg feasibility. Adult feeding influences thermal constant, however, does not influence base temperature of the eggs, which varies from 15 to 18 °C. Our results can serve as a basis for the choice of adults' diet and temperature for the storage of eggs during the mass rearing of C. cubana.
Cabbage is a leafy vegetable with high nutritional value and antioxidant power, but quickly deteriorates because of
the high water content. The pulp or mashed fruits and vegetables dehydration ...process has been widely used due to preservation
of nutritional quality, and in turn, the drying in spouted bed has been widely used to cater mainly this requirement. Although
the results on the quality of post indicate the feasibility of the spouted bed, it is necessary to study the influence of temperature
on the physicochemical characteristics of the resulting powder. In view of all arguments shown, the present work aims to study
the influence of the spouted bed temperature on the physicochemical characteristics of the purple cabbage. First was obtained
juice and physicochemical characterization of it, then it was dried in spouted bed at temperatures of 60, 70 and 80 ° C and then
the powders were subjected to physicochemical evaluation: water activity , water content, pH, titratable acidity, soluble solids
(° Brix) and color. The water activity and acidity values decreased with increasing temperature, the opposite occur for the other
parameters. It is verified a significant influence of temperature on the physical and chemical parameters.
O repolho é uma hortaliça folhosa com grande valor nutritivo e poder antioxidante, porém rapidamente deteriora-se
pelo elevado teor de água. O processo de desidratação de polpa ou purê de frutas e hortaliças tem sido amplamente empregado,
devido a preservação das qualidades nutricionais e por sua vez, a secagem em leito de jorro vem sendo amplamente utilizada
por atender principalmente esse requisito. Embora os resultados relativos à qualidade dos pós, indiquem a viabilidade do leito
de jorro, faz-se necessários estudar qual a influência da temperatura nas características físico-químicas do pó obtido. Tendo em
vista todos os argumentos mostrados, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a influência da temperatura do leito de
jorro nas características físico-químicas do repolho roxo. Primeiramente foi obtido o sumo e a caracterização físico-químico do
mesmo, em seguida o mesmo foi desidratado em leito de jorro nas temperaturas de 60, 70 e 80 °C e posteriormente os pós
obtidos foram submetidos a avaliação físico-química: atividade de água, teor de água, pH, acidez total titulável, teor de sólidos
solúveis (°Brix) e cor. Os valores de atividade de água e acidez diminuíram com o aumento da temperatura ocorrendo o
inverso para os outros parâmetros. Sendo verificada uma influência significativa da temperatura sob os parâmetros físicoquímicos.
One of the obstacles to the production of cowpea is the intensity of weed infestations that may interfere with its productivity. The objective of this work was to evaluate the tolerance of cowpea, ...cultivar BRS Guariba, to the herbicides Linuromand Quizalofope-P Etílico, in the initial stage of development of the crop. The experiment was conducted in sequestrationsystem, emergency irrigation underfield conditions in experimental design with randomized blocks, nine treatments and four replicates. The treatments evaluated were: 50% Quizalofope-P-Ethyl; 50% of Linurom; 100% Quizalofope-P-Ethyl; 100% of Linurom; 50% Quizalofope-P-Ethyl+ 50% Linurom; 50% Quizalofope-P-Ethyl+ 100% Linurom; 100% Quizalofope-P-Ethyl+ 50% Linurom; 100% of Quizalofope-P-Ethyl+ 100% of Linurom,and Manual weeding (control). Visual evaluations of weed control, phytotoxicity, plant height, number of leaves and stem diameter were performed. The cowpea plants, BRS Guariba cultivar, presented high tolerance tothe herbicides 50% and 50% in the post-emergence applications. The herbicide 100% Linurom and the formulation of the Quizalofope-P-Ethyl + Linurom cause severe damage to the development of cowpea. The herbicides blended with 100% of Quizalofope-P-Ethyland 100% of Linurom potentiatesthe effect of the herbicides on the cowpea crop, causing the death of the plants.

O nome dado aos resíduos resultantes do descarte destes equipamentos eletrônicos é lixo ou resíduo eletrônico e são causadores de impactos ambientais. Nesse sentindo, os livros didáticos estão sendo sinalizados com diferentes objetivos e propostas para o ensino com a abordagem das questões ambientais. Neste contexto, os livros didáticos e os temas que são por eles desenvolvidos é uma ferramenta de grande importância no ensino e aprendizagem dos conceitos de química. Portanto, este trabalho objetivou-se um diagnóstico de quatro coleções de livros didáticos selecionados pelo Programa Nacional Brasileiro do Livro Didático (PNLD) 2015, para investigar nestes livros como o tema “descarte de pilhas e baterias” foi abordado e quais as abordagens são dados no capitulo eletroquímica. Esse trabalho foi uma pesquisa qualitativa e os resultados apontaram que, as quatro coleções analisadas apresentaram o tema com diferentes intensidades, porém com propósitos semelhantes, sendo que a coleção Química Cidadã foi a que se destacou por apresentar questões que relaciona ciência, tecnologia, sociedade e ambiente, mostrando diversas discussões a cerca do tema, o que demonstra a significância de se discutir este tema no ensino de química, numa perspectiva das prescrições exigidas pelos documentos legais, que vincula o tema em questão ao enfoque Ciência, Tecnologia, Sociedade e Ambiente (CTSA).

Activated carbon from coconut shells is known as an excellent adsorbent to remove contaminants, it was successfully inserted into the TiO2 structure via sol-gel method, and the sonocatalysis of ...methylene blue was evaluated. TiO2 nanoparticles and coconut shell were used for synthesizing activated carbon composite (TiO2COC) with carbon contents in the range of 0.5–10% by weight. These nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Emission gun scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Field Emission Gun Scanning Electron Microscope (FEG–SEM) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The physical-chemical properties of the catalysts were investigated in depth; in particular the kinetic studies conducted to determine the real degradation capacity of each material. The nanocomposites with carbon content of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0% in mass presented better catalytic activity when compared to a commercial one (Degussa-P25) and a lower dye adsorption was observed. The catalyst with 10% of carbon mass removed all methylene blue content through the adsorption process. Some catalysts reached high activity; the ultrasound effect was increased in 22% after only 2 h using low effective power output (40 W). The main reason for the increased catalytic was the perfect insertion of TiO2, which fill the coconut structure, sealing pores, reducing the carbon roughness and decreasing the TiO2 particle size. The electrical charge recombination on TiO2 surface enhances the sonocatalytic activity.
Curcubita is a genus that includes species that stand out for their economic and food importance. Among them, pumpkin (Curcubita moschata), watermelon (Citrulus lanatus), squashes (Curcubita maxima), ...melon (Cucumis melo), cucumber (Cucumis sativus) and zucchini (Curcubita pepo). We strongly encourage authors to use the following style of structured abstracts. Therefore, this research aims to compare the adaptive potential of squash and pumpkin when recognized at different salinity levels, through the analysis of its vegetative development. The study was conducted in Agricultural Science Center of Seed Analysis Laboratory (LAS) of the Federal University of Paraiba - UFPB, Areia-PB, from July to August 2019 and 2020. Different saline concentrations (Sc) of water were evaluated on the germination of seeds of two varieties of pumpkin. Saline solutions were made by diluting sodium chloride (NaCl) in distilled and deionized water (DDA) and adjusted the Sc of 0.00, 3.00, 6.00, 9.00, 12.00 and 15.00 dS.m-1. There was a significant interaction (p < 0.005) between the varieties and saline concentrations for most of the characters evaluated (Table 1), except for the percentage of germination and the germination speed index (GVI), however, evaluating the varieties and saline concentrations in isolation, it is clear that for these two variables there are significant differences at the 1% level for both factors under study. This behavior indicates variety heterogeneity among the evaluated traits. Water salinity promoted deleterious effects on germination and germination speed index, for both varieties. The squash showed greater tolerance to saline stress, with an increase in the mean values of germination percentage, dry mass of the root and shoot, and length of the shoot and root. Studies that evaluate the emergence and development of these cultivars subjected to irrigation conditions with saline water in the field are necessary, so that the tolerance of these genotypes to salinity can be confirmed.
