One of the most monumental buildings of Interwar Academicism in Serbia, the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Kneza Miloša 24-26, forms, together with the Government Building - the ...former Ministry of Finance - a harmonious ensemble shaped by the architect Nikolay Petrovich Krasnov. Although it was not built for the needs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but rather for two other ministries (the Ministry of Forestry and Mining and the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterworks), the monumentality of the building corresponds to the importance of the institution that it plays host to. Ever since the formation of Serbian statehood at the beginning of the 19th century, there was a close and interweaving connection between the royal court and the institution in charge of foreign policy, which affected the choice, representativeness, location, and also the stylistic expression of the building in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was situated. The paper aims to comprehensively investigate the process of design and construction of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to further contextualize aspects of its construction. With a further aim being to comprehensively research the correlation of the siting and aesthetic projection of the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the first office of the 'Foreign Department' of Miloš Obrenović to the current building in Kneza Miloša, special attention is also paid to the history of the actual location of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, i.e. also its previous headquarters.
Artičoka (Cynara scolymus L.) je višegodišnja biljna vrsta koja zahvaljujući svojim prehrambenim ali i zdravstvenim značajkama postaje sve raširenija kultura na području primorske hrvatske i otoka. ...Tijekom svog razvoja artičoka je podložna napadu brojnih štetnika među kojima su gospodarski značajni nekoliko vrsta lisnih ušiju i leptira. Lisne uši kao fiziološki štetnici sisanjem listova i cvjetnih glavica postupno oslabljuju biljku, a osim toga zbog velikih količina medne rose na koju se naseljavaju gljive čađavice plodovi postaju neupotrebljivi za tržište. Leptiri u pravilu oštećuju cvjetne glavice i stabljiku. Od lisnih ušiju kao najznačajnije navedene su vrste: šljivina velika uši (Brachycaudus cardui) i bobova crna uš (Aphis fabae) Unutar reda Lepidoptera kao gospodarski značajni izdvojeni su: artičokin moljac (Depressaria erinaceella) i artičokina sovica (Gortyna xanthenes).
Artichoke is a perennial that thanks to its nutritional and health characteristic are becoming an incrisingliy widespread crop in coastal Croatia and the islands. During its development, the artichoke is susceptible to attack by numerous pests, among which several species of aphids and butterflies are economically important. As physiological pest aphids weaken the plant by sucking leaves and flowering buds. In addition, due to large amounts of honeydew, sooty mold makes the fruits unusable for the market. Butterflies damage flower heads and steems. The most important aphids are plum aphid (Brachycaudus cardui) and bean black aphid (Aphis fabae). Within the genus Lepidoptera, the following are economically important: artichoke moth (Depressaria erinaceella) and artichoke owl (Gortyna xanthenes).
Deep learning techniques are required for the analysis of synoptic (multi-band and multi-epoch) light curves in massive data of quasars, as expected from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey ...of Space and Time (LSST). In this follow-up study, we introduce an upgraded version of a conditional neural process (CNP) embedded in a multi-step approach for the analysis of large data of quasars in the LSST Active Galactic Nuclei Scientific Collaboration data challenge database. We present a case study of a stratified set of u-band light curves for 283 quasars with very low variability ∼0.03. In this sample, the CNP average mean square error is found to be ∼5% (∼0.5 mag). Interestingly, besides similar levels of variability, there are indications that individual light curves show flare-like features. According to the preliminary structure–function analysis, these occurrences may be associated with microlensing events with larger time scales of 5–10 years.
This paper presents a holographic study of the phase transition that occurs in a nonequilibrium system. The chosen model is a unique Briggs–Rauscher oscillatory reaction that, first, follows a ...deterministic pattern (namely, an oscillatory behavior) and, later, exhibits a phase transition occurring randomly and without any known link with the previous deterministic state. The presented research opens up a new way to reveal complex chemical phenomena and dynamics in situ, without disturbing significantly the nonequilibrium system and its pathways. Simultaneously, it unfolds a new route for applications of interferometric methods in different areas of materials science. Under the applied conditions, we show that the holographic method is more sensitive to the phase transition dynamics than the commonly used potentiometric method.
This mini review discusses the phenomenon of thermophoresis, also known as the thermophoretic effect. Thermophoretic effect arises from the combination of a temperature gradient and particles of very ...small dimensions, on the order of magnitude of the mean free path of the molecules of the surrounding gas. Despite being a little-known effect, it is critical to many physical and chemical processes and for characterising the properties of nanostructured materials that could be used in industry for sensing applications. A description and definition of otherwise very similar thermophoresis terms is provided, as well as a brief overview of the literature on this topic, with a focus on research in the twenty-first century.
Ovaj pregled bavi se fenomeom termoforeze odnosno termoforetskog efekta. U pitanju je efekt koji nastaje kao posljedica kombinacije temperaturnog gradijenta i čestica veoma malih dimenzija, reda veličine srednjeg slobodnog puta molekula okolnog plina. Radi se o ne tako poznatom efektu, koji je od velikog značaja za mnoge fizikalne i kemijske procese, kao i za karakterizaciju svojstava nanostrukturiranih materijala koja može imati primjenu u industriji za različite detektore. Dan je i opis definicija inače veoma sličnih pojmova iz područja termoforeze, kao i sažet pregled literature na ovu temu, s posebnim osvrtom na istraživanja u dvadeset prvom stoljeću.
The material?s size and shape influence its physical, chemical and mechanical properties. This study describes an investigation of natural photonic structure of the butterfly?s wing, mainly composed ...of chitin. The effect of corrugations at the nanoscale on material?s optical response is unambiguously revealed in the presented thermal measurements. Furthermore, the presented study shows the possibility of exploiting holography to monitor dynamics in situ.
V članku analiziramo komunikacijske sposobnosti vzgojiteljev/vzgojiteljic med starševskimi sestanki v vrtcih. V skladu z metodologijo kvalitativnega raziskovanja smo opazovali in zabeležili izbrane ...elemente komunikacije zaposlenih med 12 starševskimi sestanki v različnih vrtcih. Rezultati so pokazali, da so bili opazovani starševski sestanki dobro pripravljeni, strukturirani, primerni in interaktivni, izvedeni z ustreznim besediščem in elementi učinkovite govorne komunikacije. Največja pomanjkljivost komunikacije zaposlenih je bila nerazvita tehnika aktivnega poslušanja. Prav tako so bile očitne razlike v individualnih komunikacijskih spretnostih zaposlenih. Rezultati te raziskave lahko služijo kot orodje za razmišljanje o pedagoški praksi pri zgodnjem učenju in poučevanju.
Forum-selection agreements in consumer contracts nominate by default the business’s home jurisdiction to resolve disputes and thus directly impact a consumer’s ability not only to access courts, but ...also to obtain access to substantive justice. It has been argued that courts should consider enforcing jurisdiction clauses in consumer contracts with “greater scrutiny” because of their inherent power imbalance. To examine how the courts approach forum-selection clauses in consumer contracts, this article analyzed all reported consumer cases involving forum-selection agreements in Canadian common law jurisdictions between 1995 and 2016. The analysis of these cases shows that the courts have failed to exercise the greater scrutiny that was called for. In light of the analysis of the surveyed cases, this article argues that the rules for enforcing forum-selection clauses in consumer contracts ought to be recalibrated to reflect the power dynamics of consumer relationships, the ubiquity of standard-form contracts, and their effect on consumers’ ability to obtain redress. This article proposes two suggestions for reform: legislative intervention to invalidate forum-selection clauses in consumer agreements, and reframing and recalibrating the common law strong-cause test for the enforcement of forum-selection clauses in consumer transactions.
The architecture of the period of socialist realism in Belgrade and Serbia has been a neglected topic by scholars and professionals, but now enough time has elapsed to allow a deeper critical ...approach. While the development of Novi Beograd has been a subject of research and study for quite some time, the plans and projects for the old part of the city have largely remained out of the focus of attention. The goal of this paper is to shed some light on and analyse the design process for three unrealised projects envisaged by the first post-war five-year development plan for Belgrade (1947-51), all three intended to be located along Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard: the Art Museum, the Home of the Central Committee of the People's Youth of Yugoslavia (CCPYY) and the Concert Hall. These three case studies will hopefully help lay the basis for assessing the value of the architecture of socialist realism in Serbia, a concept that, being ideologically imposed and called off within a short span of time, left few realised projects behind, which has contributed to opposing interpretations as to its existence.
