Healthcare-associated infections are one of the major concerns worldwide. This study presents the development and the validation process of the InovSafeCare scale and aimed at identifying and ...measuring the ecosystem variables related to healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) prevention and control practices in European nurse students. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were used to (1) elaborate an item pool related to the educational environment, the healthcare setting environment, and the attitudes, beliefs, and performance of the nursing students regarding HCAI prevention and control and (2) analyze psychometric properties of the scale using factor analysis. The validated InovSafeCare scale was applied to undergraduate nursing students of five European Higher Education Institutions. The partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method with SMART-PLS3 software was used. The study sample consists of 657 nursing students, who responded a self-report inventory. From the analyzed data were identified 14 factors. The InovSafeCare scale reveals good validity and reliability of the dimensions in different European countries.
Resumo Objetivo caracterizar os desafios vivenciados pela Enfermagem nos países africanos de língua portuguesa e discutir as potencialidades da cooperação internacional neste contexto. Método estudo ...qualitativo, descritivo. Dados obtidos por meio de entrevista semiestruturada com enfermeiros de países africanos de língua portuguesa e categorizados por análise de conteúdo. Resultados participaram nove enfermeiros, provenientes dos seguintes países: Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique e São Tomé e Príncipe. Foram desenvolvidas duas categorias: a primeira retrata as dificuldades da Enfermagem de países africanos de língua portuguesa acerca da autonomia e valorização necessárias ao desenvolvimento e exercício de suas competências. A segunda categoria evidenciou possibilidades de conexões a partir de redes para integração e fortalecimento da Enfermagem, em cooperação internacional. Conclusão e implicações para a prática o estudo caracterizou como principais dificuldades aquelas relacionadas a processos de trabalho, falta de autonomia, de estrutura humana e física. Nessa perspectiva, a cooperação internacional representou importante estratégia para o fortalecimento da formação dos enfermeiros de países africanos de língua portuguesa, assim como para lidarem com os expressivos desafios que se apresentam em sua prática cotidiana.
Abstract Aim to characterize the challenges experienced by nurses in Portuguese-speaking African countries and discuss the potential of international cooperation in this context. Method qualitative and descriptive study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with nurses from Portuguese-speaking African countries and categorized through content analysis. Results nine nurses participated in the study. They were from the following countries: Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and San Tome and Príncipe. Two categories emerged from the results, one focusing on the difficulties of Nursing in Portuguese-speaking African countries regarding the autonomy and appreciation necessary for the development and exercise of its competences. The second evidenced possibilities of connections based on networks for the integration and strengthening of Nursing, through international cooperation. Conclusion and implications for practice the study characterized as main difficulties the ones related to the work process, lack of autonomy, of human and physical structure. Therefore, international cooperation emerged as an important strategy for the capacity building of nurses from Portuguese-speaking African countries, as well as to deal with the huge challenges faced by nurses in their daily activities.

Objetivos: O projeto +Contigo insere-se no âmbito da promoção da saúde mental e bem-estar e da prevenção de comportamentos autolesivos e enquanto projeto de investigação longitudinal é baseado numa ...intervenção multinível em rede. Tem como um dos objetivos gerais promover o bem-estar em adolescentes do 3º ciclo e do ensino secundário. Métodos: Estudo de natureza quasi-experimental, com grupo de controlo, avaliado no início, no final e seis meses após intervenção ao longo do ano letivo. A intervenção dirigida aos adolescentes é composta por 7 sessões em sala de aula, abordando o estigma, a adolescência, o autoconceito, a resolução de problemas, a depressão e o bem-estar. O instrumento de recolha de dados, aplicado sob a forma de questionário é constituído por vários instrumentos de medida entre os quais o índice de bem-estar (OMS, 1998). Foi autoadministrado a 2.105 adolescentes, de escolas da região centro de Portugal com adesão ao projeto +Contigo, durante os anos letivos de 2011/2012 e 2012/2013. Resultados: A amostra é constituída por 2.105 adolescentes, maioritariamente do género masculino, com idade entre os 13 e os 14 anos, pertencentes maioritariamente a turmas do 8º ano. O índice de bem-estar demonstra um aumento ao longo das três fases, no grupo alvo de intervenção, com diferença estatisticamente significativa para o grupo de controlo. Os adolescentes do género masculino apresentam melhores índices de bem-estar, existindo no decorrer do projeto aumento deste índice para ambos os géneros, com diferenças estatisticamente significativas no género masculino. Os adolescentes do 7º, 8º e 9º ano evoluíram favoravelmente no índice de bem-estar em todas as fases de avaliação. Conclusão: A intervenção produz resultados positivos a curto e a médio prazo para o índice de bem-estar, com resultados estatisticamente significativos para o grupo de intervenção comparativamente ao grupo de controlo. Estas repercussões ao nível do bem-estar dos adolescentes reforçam a estratégia preventiva de comportamentos suicidários adotada, já que, sendo o bem-estar um indicador de saúde mental acredita-se que poderá ajudar a prevenir os comportamentos autolesivos nos adolescentes.
During the Late Pleistocene, the main mountain ranges of the Iberian Peninsula were covered by small icefields and cirque and alpine glaciers. The deglaciation triggered paraglacial processes that ...generated landforms, mostly within the ice-free glacial cirques. In this research we analyse the deglaciation process in the Muxivén Cirque (42°15′N – 6°16′W), in the upper Sil River Basin, which includes some of the largest relict rock glaciers of the Cantabrian Mountains. We addressed this objective by means of accurate geomorphological reconstructions, sedimentological analysis, Schmidt-hammer surface weathering measurements and a dataset of 10 10Be Cosmic-Ray Exposure ages. Results reveal that after ~16 ka, glaciers retreated to the bottom of the cirques at the headwaters of the valley, leaving the walls free of ice and triggering rock avalanches onto the remnants of these glaciers. This paraglacial process supplied debris to a small glacier within Muxivén Cirque, which transformed in two rock glaciers. These debris isolated the ice inside the rock glaciers only for a very short period of time and ended up melting completely before the Younger Dryas. The lower sector of the largest one stabilized at 14.5 ± 1.5 ka, while the upper sector remained active until 13.5 ± 0.8 ka. Previous to the stabilization of the lower sector of the northern rock glacier, at its margin a high-energy debris avalanche occurred at ~14.0 ± 0.9 ka. These data agree with previous research, corroborating the paraglacial origin of most Iberian rock glaciers during the Bølling-Allerød interstadial.

O estudo teve como objetivo analisar a percepção da qualidade dos espaços públicos de lazer e as vivências dos usuários nesses espaços. Recorreu‐se a uma pesquisa, com abordagem qualitativa, em que ...participaram 80 frequentadores do Parque da Jaqueira e do Calçadão de Boa Viagem, em Recife (PE). Empregou‐se a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados demonstraram que os usuários usufruem dos espaços públicos de lazer, mesmo percebendo que tais espaços necessitam de melhorias no tocante à infraestrutura física e técnica.
The study aimed to analyze the perceived quality of public spaces for leisure and the experiences of users in these spaces. This research has a qualitative approach, the sample is composed of 80 people that always go to the Parque da Jaqueira and Calçadão de Boa Viagem, in Recife‐PE. The data was analyzed by the content analysis. The results show that users enjoy the public spaces of leisure even realizing that such areas need some improvement in terms of physical and technical infrastructure.
El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la calidad percibida de los espacios públicos para el ocio y las experiencias de los usuarios de estos espacios. Se recurrió a una investigación, un enfoque cualitativo, en que participaron 80 personas que solían acudir al parque Jaqueira y al paseo marítimo del Boa Viagem de la ciudad de Recife‐PE. Se aplicó el análisis del contenido. Los resultados mostraron que los usuarios disfrutan de los espacios públicos de ocio aunque se dan cuenta de que estos espacios necesitan mejoras respecto a la infraestructura física y técnica.

Esse estudo teve como objetivo comparar a postura corporal e o equilíbrio entre idosos praticantes e não praticantes de exercícios físicos. Trata-se de um estudo transversal e analítico, com uma ...amostra por conveniência de 245 idosos, distribuída em grupo de praticantes de exercício físico (GP) (n=169) e grupo de não praticantes de exercícios físicos (GNP) (n=76). O equilíbrio foi avaliado pela escala de Berg, a postura corporal ortostática por meio do software SAPO e a postura sentada pelo protocolo Rocha e Souza. Foi encontrado que os idosos do GP possuem melhor postura sentada (p = 0,046), alinhamento vertical do tronco direito (p = 0,039), alinhamento vertical do corpo direito (p = 0,027) e esquerdo (p = 0,004), ângulo do tornozelo esquerdo (p = 0,023), assimetria do plano frontal (p = 0,008) e equilíbrio (0.001), comparados aos idosos do GNP. Conclui-se que os idosos que praticam exercícios físicos apresentam melhor postura e equilíbrio, em comparação aos não praticantes. Essas informações podem ser úteis para aumentar e incentivar programas de práticas corporais e exercícios físicos para idosos no Brasil.
A series of novel tacrine–cinnamate and tacrine–cinnamylidene acetate hybrids have been designed, synthesized and evaluated as multitarget compounds for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Results ...of the assessment of their inhibitory activity against acetylcholinesterase (AChE), antioxidant activity and self-induced β-amyloid (Aβ) aggregation are reported. These hybrid compounds showed promising results: all presented high activity against AChE, with IC 50 values between the low micromolar and nanomolar range of concentrations. The molecular modeling studies suggested dual interaction with both the catalytic and peripheral sites. Some compounds presented good antioxidant activity (DPPH free radical method) in the low micromolar range, namely the cinnamate derivatives with hydroxyl substituents and extended allyl-conjugation. Moreover, these compounds showed good neuroprotective effects by rescuing neuroblastoma cells stressed with the β-amyloid peptide and hydrogen peroxide. Overall, our results suggest that some of these new hybrids have good potential as multifunctional drug candidates for AD treatment.
