Bioassay-guided investigation of the EtOAc-soluble extract of a culture of the marine-derived fungus Peroneutypa sp. M16 led to the isolation of seven new polyketide- and terpenoid-derived ...metabolites (1, 2, 4–8), along with known polyketides (3, 9–13). Structures of compounds 1, 2, and 4–8 were established by analysis of spectroscopic data. Absolute configurations of compounds 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 were determined by the comparison of experimental ECD spectra with calculated CD data. Compound 5 exhibited moderate antiplasmodial activity against both chloroquine-sensitive and -resistant strains of Plasmodium falciparum.
Background
We investigated to what extent tube voltage, scanner model, and reconstruction algorithm affect radiomic feature reproducibility in a single-institution retrospective database of computed ...tomography images of non-small-cell lung cancer patients.
Methods
This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board (UID 2412). Images of 103 patients were considered, being acquired on either among two scanners, at 100 or 120 kVp. For each patient, images were reconstructed with six iterative blending levels, and 1414 features were extracted from each reconstruction. At univariate analysis, Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test was applied to evaluate feature differences within scanners and voltages, whereas the impact of the reconstruction was established with the overall concordance correlation coefficient (OCCC). A multivariable mixed model was also applied to investigate the independent contribution of each acquisition/reconstruction parameter. Univariate and multivariable analyses were combined to analyse feature behaviour.
Results
Scanner model and voltage did not affect features significantly. The reconstruction blending level showed a significant impact at both univariate analysis (154/1414 features yielding an OCCC < 0.85) and multivariable analysis, with most features (1042/1414) revealing a systematic trend with the blending level (multiple comparisons adjusted

< 0.05). Reproducibility increased in association to image processing with smooth filters, nonetheless specific investigation in relation to clinical endpoints should be performed to ensure that textural information is not removed.
Conclusions
Combining univariate and multivariable models is allowed to identify features for which corrections may be applied to reduce the trend with the algorithm and increase reproducibility. Subsequent clustering may be applied to eliminate residual redundancy.

A data sample collected by the KLOE experiment at DAΦNE corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 1.7 fb−1 is analysed to study the Δt distributions of the ϕ→KSKL→π+π−π±e∓ν and ϕ→KSKL→π±e∓ν3π0 processes, with Δt the difference of the kaon decay times. A comparison of the measured Δt distributions in the asymptotic region Δt≫τS allows to test for the first time T and CPT symmetries in kaon transitions with a precision of few percent, and to observe CP violation with this novel method.
We describe herein a synthetic strategy for the synthesis of new fluorescent imidazole and phenazine derivatives synthesized from lapachol, a naturally occurring naphthoquinone isolated from Tabebuia ...species (ipê tree). The photophysical properties and computational details of these compounds have been studied, aiming at gaining a complete understanding of the potential of these derivatives as probes capable of staining mitochondria selectively. Cell imaging experiments proved the capacity of the imidazole derivatives as selective fluorescent mitochondrial imaging probes. These heterocycles present the same staining patterns as MitoTracker Red, corroborating the potential of these compounds as new mitochondria markers permeable to the cell membrane.

thermally induced phase separation (TIPS). The morphology of the membranes has been analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Dense and porous membranes have been obtained and characterized by contact angle, pore size and porosity tests. Porous membranes showed an asymmetric structure made of a denser top-side and a spherulitic porous structure on the bottom side. Membrane resistance was studied using the dense membrane in contact with most aggressive organic solvents, such as polar protic, polar aprotic and non-polar solvents. The results suggest that the newly developed LMP ECTFE membranes are very promising candidates for organic solvent separation. Ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) tests with alcohols and di-methyl formamide (DMF) demonstrated their solvent separation potential.

Early identification of students at risk of dyslexia has been an educational challenge in the past years. This research had two main goals. First, we aimed to develop a screening protocol for early ...identification of Brazilian children at risk for dyslexia; second, we aimed to identify the predictive variables of this protocol using Principal Component Analysis. The major step involved in developing this protocol was the selection of variables, which were chosen based on the literature review and linguistic criteria. The screening protocol was composed of seven cognitive-linguistic skills: Letter naming; Phonological Awareness (which comprises the following subtests: Rhyme production, Rhyme identification, Syllabic segmentation, Production of words from a given phoneme, Phonemic Synthesis, and Phonemic analysis); Phonological Working memory, Rapid naming Speed; Silent reading; Reading of words and non-words; and Auditory Comprehension of sentences from pictures. A total of 149 children, aged from 6 years to 6 and 11, of both genders who were enrolled in the 1st grade of elementary public schools were submitted to the screening protocol. Principal Component Analysis revealed four factors, accounting for 64.45% of the variance of the Protocol variables: first factor ("pre-reading"), second factor ("decoding"), third factor ("Reading"), and fourth factor "Auditory processing." The factors found corroborate those reported in the National and International literature and have been described as early signs of dyslexia and reading problems.
Bioelectrochemical technologies are emerging as innovative solutions for waste treatment, offering flexible platforms for both oxidation and reduction reaction processes. A great variety of ...applications have been developed by utilizing the energy produced in bioelectrochemical systems, such as direct electric power generation, chemical production or water desalination. This manuscript provides a literature review on the prospects in bioelectrochemical technologies for wastewater treatment, including organic, nutrients and metals removal, production of chemical compounds and desalination. The challenges and perspectives for scale-up were discussed. A technological strategy to improve the process monitoring and control based on big data platforms is also presented. To translate the viability of wastewater treatment based on bioelectrochemical technologies into commercial application, it is necessary to exploit interdisciplinary areas by combining the water/wastewater sector, energy and data analytics technologies.
