The objective of this letter is to extend the use of the generalized thru-reflect-line measurement technique to the case of a radiating multimodal rectangular waveguide aperture. Although this ...radiating aperture has been carefully studied from a theoretical point of view, the relevant experimental characterization has been limited to the case where the feeding waveguide is monomodal. In addition to theory, we also present experimental results that agree quite well with full-wave simulations, thereby fully validating the measurement technique.
In the above titled paper (ibid., vol. 55, no. 9, pp. 1905-1911), there are typographical errors in equation (4). The correct equation is presented here.
In this work, we demonstrate a hybrid scanning tunneling microscope/near field scanning microwave microscope featuring nanometric resolution in liquid environment. The system performs an ...ultra-broadband microwave analysis, since the frequency is swept (up to 50 GHz) for each spatial point of the sample under measurement. A conversion in time-domain allows to disentangle near-field and far-field probe-sample interactions. Results are reported for highly oriented pyrolitic graphite immersed in water, and demonstrate microwave nanometric resolution in spite of the presence of the losses induced by the aqueous environment.
This paper reports deuteron vector and tensor beam polarization measurements taken to investigate the systematic variations due to geometric beam misalignments and high data rates. The experiments ...used the In-Beam Polarimeter at the KVI-Groningen and the EDDA detector at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY at Jülich. By measuring with very high statistical precision, the contributions that are second-order in the systematic errors become apparent. By calibrating the sensitivity of the polarimeter to such errors, it becomes possible to obtain information from the raw count rate values on the size of the errors and to use this information to correct the polarization measurements. During the experiment, it was possible to demonstrate that corrections were satisfactory at the level of 10
−5 for deliberately large errors. This may facilitate the real time observation of vector polarization changes smaller than 10
−6 in a search for an electric dipole moment using a storage ring.
We present a precise measurement of the ratio RK=Γ(K→eν(γ))/Γ(K→μν(γ)) and a study of the radiative process K→eνγ, performed with the KLOE detector. The results are based on data collected at the ...Frascati e+e− collider DAΦNE for an integrated luminosity of 2.2 fb−1. We find RK=(2.493±0.025stat±0.019syst)×10−5, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation. This result is used to improve constraints on parameters of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with lepton flavor violation. We also measured the differential decay rate dΓ(K→eνγ)/dEγ for photon energies 10<Eγ< 250 MeV. Results are compared with predictions from theory.
Effects due to non-pointlike behavior of pions in the process e+e−→π+π−γ can arise for hard photons in the final state. By means of a Monte Carlo event generator, which also includes the contribution ...of the direct decay ϕ→π+π−γ, we estimate these effects in the framework of resonance perturbation theory. We consider angular cuts used in the KLOE analysis of the pion form factor at threshold. A method to reveal the effects of non-pointlike behavior of pions in a model-independent way is proposed.
