Članek problematizira več vidikov delovanja in govora etablirane politične elite v kontekstu novega spletnega orodja Parlameter. Pojav spleta in digitalnih prostorov izražanja pri tem razumemo kot ...platformo, ki jezik kot družbeni fenomen tudi kritično analizira. Parlameter namreč dopušča, da že prisotno govorico, ki ima pomemben kontekst, saj gre za poslance oz. zakonodajne odločevalce, ki soustvarjajo javno kulturo, podrobneje analiziramo s pomočjo raznolikih algoritmov in strukturnih mehanizmov – od rabe jezika do prisotnosti in odločanja v državnem zboru. V prispevku predstavljamo zlasti avtomatizirane in druge analize, ki jih spletišče ponuja na ravni govora posameznikov in poslanskih skupin v trenutnem parlamentarnem sklicu. Ker pa Parlameter kot novo analitično orodje poleg jezikovno-stilnih dimenzij ponuja tudi nadzorovalno funkcijo delovanja poslancev in poslank ter njihovih odločitev, v prvem delu prispevka predstavljamo preostale ravni morebitnih analiz in jih umeščamo v širši kontekst digitalizacije institucionalne politike.
This article develops a biosemiotic ´hyper-narrative model´ for the purposes of investigating emergent motor behaviors. It proposes to understand such behaviors in terms of the following ...associations: the organization of information acquired from the environment, focusing on narrative; the organizational dynamics of epigenetic mechanisms that underly the neural processes facilitating the processing of information; and the evolution of emergent motor behaviors that enable the informational acquisition. The article describes and explains these associations as part of a multi-ordered and multi-causal generative principle of biological phenotype emergence that supersedes the theory of the arbitrary coding of life. Preceeding from narrative’s operations in a biological dimension, the article presents scientific research dealing with the associations of action-oriented organization of narrative information and underlying psychological and physiological dynamics and depicts the relations with a distributed multi-directional mapping dynamic. The article presents the explanatory implications of such a hyper-narrative dynamic model on an example of emergent motor behaviors – bruxism. Central to this discussion is the exploration of the possible mechanisms of emergence and etiopathogenesis of bruxism, based on its neurobiology. The article takes the perspective that complex systems dynamics themselves with a tendency to narrative form are found not to be underlain merely by arbitrary coded mechanisms but, rather, biological neural networks (e.g. neuro-epigenetic network) that render context-dependent bio-informational mapping analogous to that of the narrative possible.
Pathological narcissism represents the dominant form of subjectivity in post-industrial society and its consumerist ideals. The fear one feels in connection with one’s death, fear that is typical of ...pathological narcissism, frequently manifests itself as absolute denial of the idea of a mortal Self. According to Freud, primary narcissism prevents one from imagining or even thinking about one’s own death. In the realm of the Unconscious, death does not exist. Death is absent from cyberspace in much the same manner and in this sense, cyberspace has become a fitting metaphor for the Unconscious. It is pathological narcissism that makes cyberspace and all actions that take place within it possible, reasonable and justifiable. It is what transforms all our cyber-actions into more than merely a waste of time. Upon entering cyberspace the subjects are given the chance to leave their mortality, their corporeity behind and embark upon a journey that offers countless possibilities and realities. Yet they have thus also entered the realm of digital death. The anthropological supposition that culture is our “natural environment” can now, when cyberspace and digital technologies function as a “natural environment” for pathological narcissism, be reconsidered and reinterpreted.
Sid Meier's Civilization is a pop cultural artefact, good to think cultural differences, science and economy, giving us valuable insights in the Western cosmological system, which has relied on ...(post-)imperial, (post-)colonial and utterly ethnocentric political (and other) traditions at least since the Enlightenment. An anthropologically informed critique of Civilization, inspired by cultural relativism and post-colonial studies, is presented in the text, leading to very problematic conclusions as to what kind of messages the game conveys. The game reinforces enlightened ideals that celebrate reason and logic, presents the notion of progress as universal and unilineal, and portrays others as savages. Adapted from the source document.
