A bilingual (German-Slovene) flyer from Ljubljana, Slovenia, dated 1794, advertising the publication of the first issue of Valentin Vodnik's almanac, is analyzed for authorship, provenance, & ...stylistics. Linguistic features examined establish Volodnik as the flyer's author, & include (1) the use of the conclusive-resultative conjunction tedaj in place of Standard Slovene torej & greater reliance on the verbal noun suffix -je & participles than his contemporaries; (2) the use of regional /dialectal words & forms from Siska or the Upper Carniolan area, where Vodnik was from; & (3) typographical & stylistic changes from the original German text. 9 References.
