The paper focuses on investigating factors impacting visitors’ loyal behaviour and factor analysis of push and pull motivations to a botanic park. To do so, the research is divided into two phases ...that are qualitative and quantitative. In the qualitative phase, in-depth interviews are used to gather initial insights into the visitors’ push and pull motivations to a botanic park. In the quantitative phase, a survey is taken to collect data then factor analysis is carried out to group similar variables of push and pull together for the identification of different market segments. Survey data is gathered from a sample size of 228 individuals and analyzed in SPSS. The analysis from the quantitative phase validated the insights/concepts deriving from the qualitative phase. As a result, results of factor analysis show that the total of 09 push variables have been combined into 02 factors (family/fun and thrill-seeking) and 12 pull variables into 03 factors (nature/resources, facilities/services, place/accessibility). By grouping these similar motivations together, it helps support park managers in enhancing and improving the park’s motives, features, and facilities in a way that satisfies visitors the most.
Increasing number of people is becoming more active in park visitation and ecotourism. It is therefore important for park managers to understand future trends in visitor use of parks. This research ...paper is designed to understand the motivational factors or the psychological reasons why people visit parks in order to create the suitable marketing campaign to target them. As well as that, it discovers the facilities and attractions of parks that are most important to the visitors, so that the management of parts can disburse its resources in the best areas to achieve maximum output and return. Furthermore, the research aims to find the best communication channels for tourism destinations to reach its target audience so that its marketing expenditure can yield the maximum return. A survey with 228 participants who have visited Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens in the last 12 months was conducted. The research result will be critical for the adaptive management of parks and for building the capacity to manage changes and shifts in visitation patterns and park usage. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens would take advantage of this trend and secure a substantial proportion of the new park visitors.
The current exploratory study conceptualizes botanic park personality and explores its effects on visitor attitude and behavioural intentions. To achieve this, a renowned botanic park in Western ...Australia was selected. Pen-and-paper and online surveys were self-administered to 481 local and international respondents in two main studies. Two botanic park personality attributes were identified, namely, ‘excitement’ and ‘competence’, which aligned with the destination personality literature. These attributes impacted on attitude as well as subsequent intentions to visit and recommend the botanic park for local and international respondents. Findings offer researchers a platform to advance further studies on botanic park personality that may be extended to other nature-based tourism attractions. The identified and distinctive botanic park personality attributes help to guide practitioners in shaping the positioning and differentiation strategy to attract visitors and enhance the park’s financial sustainability.
A greenhouse, which has developed into a type of representative architecture over a long period of time, has played a significant role as an architectural structure for the development of botanical ...gardens. As the modem architectural concept evolved, greenhouses also underwent a series of development along with botanical gardens. In this study, the historical value and other aspects of a greenhouse (its role for botanical gardens, etc.), which have been a part of the historical development of mankind, were explored to study their significance. In particular, the characteristics of the environmental plans and the significance of the spatial plans of world-class greenhouses, such as the Great Glasshouse, were analyzed. Based on these analytical findings, implications were identified, and significance was verified with regard to the planning and technological aspects of a greenhouse based on the following items: amount of solar radiation; form, space, and circulation; exterior design; cooling and heating plan; use of water sources; amongst others. This confirmed that consideration for an eco-friendly construction is necessary as a measure to allow a greenhouse, which requires extensive energy consumption, to autonomously minimize its energy consumption level. The construction plan of the Seoul Botanic Park Greenhouse, with its construction currently underway, was examined to investigate its role as an iconic hub of botanic culture in Seoul, and its significance was suggested in relation to its eco-friendly plan that includes spatial planning, typological characteristics, and technological aspects. In particular, the Seoul Botanic Park Greenhouse is designed to feature mainly plants displays and local culture displays, which are prevalent in modem greenhouse plans. To realize these design goals, an environmental analysis was conducted and eco-friendly approaches, such as the use of incident heat depending on the position and altitude of the sun, were actively sought. This study confirms that the plan to promote sustainability in a comprehensive manner is being developed.
