Introducción: el síndrome de Burnout ha generado diversas investigaciones en los últimos cuarenta años debido a sus implicancias para la salud laboral, pero son pocos los trabajos que asocian este ...constructo con variables como el liderazgo. En ese sentido, la teoría DISC, formulada por William Marston, se ha aplicado al contexto organizacional para explicar las conductas de liderazgo y sometimiento. Objetivo: el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre el síndrome de Burnout y sus respectivas dimensiones con los estilos de personalidad propuestos por la teoría DISC: Dominante, Influyente, Estable y Concienzudo. Método: se evaluó a 91 trabajadores de una empresa comercial del sector privado (37,4% mujeres y 62,6% varones) mediante el Inventario de Burnout de Maslach y la prueba DISC. Resultados: el 15,4% de trabajadores presenta el síndrome de burnout y que el estilo predominante fue el Estable en el 34% de la muestra, seguido del estilo Influyente en el 29%, el Concienzudo en el 26% y el Dominante en el 11%. Al aplicar la prueba chi cuadrado no se reportaron asociaciones estadísticamente significativas entre las variables de estudio. Conclusión: No se han registrado asociaciones significativas entre las dimensiones del síndrome de Burnout y las dimensiones del liderazgo según la teoría DISC. Introduction: the Burnout syndrome has generated several researches in the last forty years considering its implications for labor health, but there are few papers that associate this construct with variables such as leadership. In this sense, the DISC theory, formulated by William Marston, and applied to the organizational context in order to explain leadership and submission behaviors. Objective: the present research has as aim to analyze the relationship between burnout syndrome and its dimensions with personality styles according to DISC theory: Dominant, Influential, Steadiness and Compliance. Method: 91 workers from a private commerce enterprise (37,4% female and 62,6% male) were assessed by the application of Burnout Maslach Inventory and the DISC Test. Results: 15,4% workers has severe level of burnout syndrome and the predominant personality was the Steady in the 34% of the sample, followed by the Influential in the 29%, the Compliance in the 26% and the Dominant in the 11%. The application of the chi square test reported that there are not a significant statistical relation between the variables of this study. Conclusion: There were no significant associations between the Burnout syndrome dimensions and leadership dimensions according to the DISC theory. Can parents burn out? The aim of this research was to examine the construct validity of the concept of parental burnout and to provide researchers which an instrument to measure it. We conducted two ...successive questionnaire-based online studies, the first with a community-sample of 379 parents using principal component analyses and the second with a community- sample of 1,723 parents using both principal component analyses and confirmatory factor analyses. We investigated whether the tridimensional structure of the burnout syndrome (i.e., exhaustion, inefficacy, and depersonalization) held in the parental context. We then examined the specificity of parental burnout vis-à-vis professional burnout assessed with the Maslach Burnout Inventory, parental stress assessed with the Parental Stress Questionnaire and depression assessed with the Beck Depression Inventory. The results support the validity of a tri-dimensional burnout syndrome including exhaustion, inefficacy and emotional distancing with, respectively, 53.96 and 55.76% variance explained in study 1 and study 2, and reliability ranging from 0.89 to 0.94. The final version of the Parental Burnout Inventory (PBI) consists of 22 items and displays strong psychometric properties (CFI = 0.95, RMSEA = 0.06). Low to moderate correlations between parental burnout and professional burnout, parental stress and depression suggests that parental burnout is not just burnout, stress or depression. The prevalence of parental burnout confirms that some parents are so exhausted that the term "burnout" is appropriate. The proportion of burnout parents lies somewhere between 2 and 12%. The results are discussed in light of their implications at the micro-, meso- and macro-levels.
La pandemia por COVID-19 ha afectado las rutinas laborales y ha generado en las personas estrés o burnout, que puede disminuir por el engagement de los trabajadores. El propósito de esta ...investigación fue estudiar el burnout, engagement y la percepción de prácticas de gestión en apoyo que tienen los trabajadores en tiempos de pandemia por COVID-19 al enfrentar sus desafíos. El enfoque metodológico fue correlacional-explicativo, con encuestas a 408 trabajadores de una ciudad del centro sur de Chile. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias por sexo y edad en engagement, pero no en burnout; además, las personas que perciben recibir apoyo presentan puntuaciones mayores de engagement y menores de burnout que quienes no perciben recibir apoyo orientado a prácticas de gestión en contextos inciertos.
Objetivo: se analizó la validez y confiabilidad del cuestionario burnout para profesores universitarios, que es una versión modificada de la adaptación española del Inventario Burnout de Maslach ...(MBI). Materiales y métodos: es un estudio psicométrico, transversal, de tipo instrumental, cuya muestra está conformada por 206 docentes de la Universidad Nacional Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo (Ancash, Perú), 164 varones y 42 mujeres, de 20 a 70 años de edad, 165 nombrados y 41 contratados, quienes participaron voluntariamente en el estudio. Resultados: el cuestionario cuenta con validez de contenido, para lo cual se consultó a ocho expertos y se determinó la V de Aiken, que presenta un valor aceptable igual a 0,91. La validez de constructo fue estimada tanto a través del análisis factorial exploratorio, en la cual la medida de Kaiser Meyer Olkin es igual a 0,87; como del análisis factorial confirmatorio en la que las puntuaciones de medida de ajuste son adecuadas para el burnout por docencia (RMSEA=0,07, CFI=0,87, TLI=0,86, NFI=0,77) y para el burnout por investigación (RMSEA=0,06, CFI=0,91, TLI=0,90, NFI=0,80). La validez discriminante se determinó mediante el índice de discriminación de los ítems, y todos obtuvieron puntuaciones superiores al mínimo aceptable (r=0,20). Asimismo, los resultados revelaron consistencia interna a través del coeficiente del alfa de Cronbach (a=0,92) y del omega (OMEGA=0,92). Conclusión: se confirmó que las propiedades psicométricas del cuestionario burnout para profesores universitarios son adecuadas, pues evidencia tener validez y confiabilidad para evaluar el burnout. Objective: to analyze the validity and reliability of the burnout Questionnaire for university professors, which is a modified version of the Spanish adaptation of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Materials and methods; this are a psychometric, cross-sectional, instrumental study, whose sample is made up of 206 professors from the Santiago Antunez de Mayolo National University (Ancash, Peru), 164 men and 42 women, aged 20 to 70 years. age, 165 appointed and 41 hired, who voluntarily participated in the development of the study. Results: it is found that the questionnaire has content validity, for which eight experts were consulted and Aiken's V was determined, which presents an acceptable value equal to 0,91. The construct validity estimated both through exploratory factor analysis, in which the Kaiser Meyer Olkin measure is equal to 0,87; as from the confirmatory factor analysis in which the adjustment measure scores are adequate for teaching burnout (RmSeA = 0,07, CFI = 0,87, TLI = 0,86, NFI = 0,77), and for research burnout (RMSEA = 0,06, CFI = 0,91, TLI = 0,90, NFI = 0,80). The discriminant validity determined by the discrimination index of the items, and all obtained scores higher than the minimum acceptable (r = 0,20). Likewise, the results reveal internal consistency through Cronbach's alpha coefficient (a = 0,92) and Omega (OMEGA = 0,92). Conclusion; It is confirmed that the psychometric properties of the burnout Questionnaire for university professors are adequate, since it shows validity and reliability to evaluate burnout.
