XX w. Poprzez zespół amerykański PSL/ZPWP dość wyraźnie oddziaływała na całe emigracyjne Stronnictwo.
The article focuses on the period of correspondence between Jože Javoršek (1920-1990) and Matej Bor (1913-1993) from 1955 to 1988, based on what was possible to obtain from the Matej Bor's archive ...(Ms 1956) in the National and University Library and some of the letters that have been kept by Javoršek's relatives. The analysis of the correspondence between the two authors, who began their acquaintance in a partisan cultural circle, shows a gradual development of their (friendly) relationship and their views of literature, culture in general, and the society of the time. The letters reveal the complications surrounding the 1965 Bled Congress; touch on Javoršek's trial, which was indirectly linked to his work Nevarna razmerja; and contain discussions about the future of the SASA (The Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts) and the recipients of the Prešeren Fund Award.
The Congress of American Jews began its activities as an organization established to represent all Jews living in the United States during the Congress in Philadelphia. On December 15–18, 1918, a ...meeting of 400 delegates representing all Jewish political parties and social groups in the USA took place. What decisions were made? And then how were they implemented and what was the future of the initiative launched in Philadelphia? Answers to these questions will allow us to draw a conclusion as to the importance of the December congress in the history of Jews in the USA and whether it fulfilled its tasks.

Artykuł komentuje słynny referat Borisa Hessena „Społeczne i ekonomiczne korzenie Principiów Newtona” przedstawiony podczas II Międzynarodowego Kongresu Historii Nauki i Techniki w Londynie w 1931 r. Artykuł syntetycznie przedstawia hermeneutykę badawczą Hessena i wskazuje jej zasadnicze wady. XX wieku do lat 20. The article comments on the famous paper by Boris Hessen “The Social and Economic Roots of Newton’s Principia” presented at the Second International Congress on the History of Science and Technology in London in 1931.The comments are made in the light of considerations on the methodology of the historiography of science, including the author’s ideas of research hermeneutics and the research hermeneutics of the historiography of science, the biography of Boris Hessen, the history of scientific historiography, the history of science and the history of science-of-science.The article synthetically presents Hessen’s research hermeneutics and points to its fundamental disadvantages. It describes the reception of Hessen’s paper in the West: both the more widely known positive reception (of Bernalists and their successors, including supporters of Marxist studies of science and the social history of science), and the much less known negative reception (members of the (British) Society for Freedom in Science, members of the Harvard group of J. B. Conant of General Education in Science). The article also presents the changing fate of the reception of Hessen’s thoughts in the USSR and Russia in the years 1930–2020.Additionally, it indicates various historiographic myths related to “Boris Hessen”, including the myth that the Polish science-of-science (Polish: naukoznawstwo) emerged later or at the same time as Russian science-of-science (Russian: науковедение, naukovedenie). The defectiveness of Hessen’s research hermeneutics on the one hand, and on the other hand the reception of his views in the West and in the USSR and Russia from the 1930s to the 2020s, including the various historiographic myths related to Hessen, show how paradoxical the history of the historiography of science can be, and demonstrate the need to cultivate the skills of critical thinking among researchers interpreting science (i.e. historians of science, philosophers of science, sociologists of scientific knowledge, etc.).
In the article, I will discuss a model and a mechanism of the Council of Europe member states’ compliance with the European Charter of Local Self-Government, which was developed by the Congress of ...Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CLRA). A case study analysis will be based upon investigation of three monitoring procedures launched on Poland so far. The main aim of my analysis is to examine a changing condition of local democracy in Poland as evidenced in periodical assessments carried out by CLRA’s Monitoring Committee. The conclusions resulting from both audit reports and recommendations of relevant Council of Europe bodies addressed to subsequent governments of the Republic of Poland will be assessed.

The effect of domestic affairs on foreign policy, with specific reference to current events in the United States of AmericaThe impact of domestic affairs on foreign policy is becoming increasingly ...more crucial. The former affects the latter. Indeed, domestic policy substantially influences foreign policy, to the extent that foreign policy depends upon domestic policy. It can therefore be argued that foreign policy is the reflection of domestic policy. Kissinger, for example, held the opinion that foreign policy starts where domestic policy ends. The inter-connections between domestic and foreign affairs are undeniable. Foreign policy can never be detached from the domestic context from which it springs. Moreover, it seldom succeeds if it is not acceptable at home, since without domestic influence there could hardly be a foreign policy. Domestic pressures may take several different forms and the relationship between foreign-policy decision makers and domestic constituencies is shaped in part by the institutions of the society.Foreign policy is formulated neither in a vacuum nor in isolation. It is embedded in national interests and its parameters are always shaped by those interests. With its core rooted in domestic affairs foreign policy is justifiably regarded as an extension of domestic policy, in that it expands from domestic interests. The linkages between the international and national environments are considered crucial in the decision-making process of foreign policy. Consequently, foreign policy decision-makers must have a comprehensive understanding of domestic affairs and policy before formulating and adopting a suitable foreign policy. No country has a foreign policy without any connection to its domestic policy. It is therefore essential that domestic affairs are included in the analysis of foreign policy decision-making and that the influence and consequential impact of domestic affairs on foreign policies be properly assessed. Domestic political calculations undoubtedly influence foreign policy choices – the symbiotic relationship between foreign affairs and domestic issues is a reality.
