The street lighting is one of major components in total energy consumption in cities. The paper is focused on a concept of street lamp control systems and function organization with remote ...monitoring, to reduce maintenance costs and energy consumption. A new approach to the definition of functional strategy organization for outdoor lighting systems is introduced in the paper. Proposed functional strategies are based on four efficiency classes of building automation and control systems (BACS) defined in the EN 15323 standard. They have been formulated, analysed and eventually implemented and verified in real experiment street lighting installation. This outdoor lighting system, designed by the authors, based on LonWorks (the ISO/IEC EN 14908) platform with a power line communication aimed to control high-pressure sodium lamps. The street lamps are integrated nodes of a building management system (BMS). The results of experimental tests for the proposed functional strategies, implemented with various control scenarios, show that they provide a great potential in reducing energy consumption by street lighting installations. In particular, the energy use can be reduced even by 45 % in comparison to conventional street lighting system, especially without the use of monitoring and control.
Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) and Technical Building Management (TBM) provide effective control and monitoring functions of heating, ventilating, cooling, hot water and lighting ...appliances etc., improving comfort as well as energy efficiency. The paper focuses on the evaluation of the impact of the BACS and TBM on the energy efficiency of university classroom. The BACS and TBM functions in test university classroom has been organised and implemented according to the BACS and TBM efficiency classes introduced and defined in the EN 15232 standard. The study presented in the paper puts into evidence that the building automation system with higher BACS efficiency class has improved the energy efficiency. However, in respect to the BACS efficiency factors from the EN 15232, there are discrepancies discussed by authors. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to examine these factors in a real infrastructure of an university building.
Contemporary building automation system (BAS) is realize automatization control and management system through to the modern advanced computer technology, communication technology and control ...technology, and other comprehensive utilization, which can realize the intelligent buildings all mechanical and electrical equipment and the energy equipment of the united network control connection, so as to achieve the whole building environment system of monitoring and management, to it’s best for people to create a comfortable safety, high efficiency and energy saving life environment. In this paper, there’s a deep discussions of the building automation system of composition, development and the present situation; and the key technology of the present situation and development prospects, and we set a plan based on the technology of building automation system LonWorks solutions, and expounds the concrete realization of key technologies of the system, based on the development of the host general much input/output intelligent node module.
Considering the increasing popularity of network-based control systems and the huge adoption of IP networks (such as the Internet), this paper studies the influence of network quality of service ...(QoS) parameters over quality of control parameters. An example of a control loop is implemented using two LonWorks networks (CEA-709.1) interconnected by an emulated IP network, in which important QoS parameters such as delay and delay jitter can be completely controlled. Mathematical definitions are provided according to the literature, and the results of the network-based control loop experiment are presented and discussed.

In order to improve the lighting and temperature control in large public buildings, intelligent shading technology has been growing attention. This intelligent shading control system is based on the ...Lonworks bus. It uses various sensors to detect indoor and outdoor light intensity and temperature changes automatically, the system provides reasonable the curtain control program to change the height of the curtains and the blade angle, to regulate indoor lighting and air-conditioning, reducing building energy consumption in all aspects. Common TCP / IP protocol is used to achieve a seamless connection with the building automation system. It concerns with energy saving, low carbon, environmental protection, intelligence concept of modern building.
This paper presents a new application scheme of Broadband Power Line Communication (BPLC) in smart home. In this scheme the power line was chosen as “the last one meter connection”medium in order to ...reduce the length of the PLC link and improve the network property. In the newscheme, the power lines and PLC modem were used to construct the indoor Ethernet, and the home appliances were connected to this indoor LAN through the serial port/Ethernet network adapter as an Ethernet unit, then to access or control the home appliancesfrom the Internet through the home gateway, which is different from the common ones, is available. The new application scheme not only increases the management efficiency and reduce the cost of smart home, but also conquer the shortcomings of the traditional methods.
A remote supervisory system of classroom lighting based on LonWorks fieldbus is presented, which controls the switch state of lights and the number of lights to turn on, achieving the purpose of ...energy saving. The administrator can remotely know the situation of each classroom, and be able to perform manually control. The experiment results show that the proposed supervisory system has the qualities of easy to implement, high reliability, and easy to expand.
