In the communicative figuration of science communication (Hepp & Hasebrink, 2017), a variety of actors, practices and orientations contribute to the mediation of scientific knowledge and expertise. ...By curating scientific content for a journalistic audience, Science Media Centers (SMCs) can take up a powerful intermediary position. In this paper, we apply a figurational framework to understand what roles SMCs can take in science communication. Building on ethnographic material gathered during January and October 2020, we analyze through which practices, communicative relations, mission and normative assumptions SMC Germany has shaped its position in science communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. Doing so, we follow the “cultural turn” in science communication research. Building on the concept of brokerage, we conclude that SMC Germany has taken on roles as a knowledge broker by providing journalists with curated scientific content, a trust broker by facilitating relationships between journalists and scientists, and a value broker by promoting the status of scientific expertise in the social knowledge order.
The wide adoption of cloud greatly facilitates the sharing of explosively generated media content today, yet deprives content providers' direct control over the outsourced media content. Thus, it is ...pivotal to build an encrypted cloud media center where only authorized access is allowed. Enforcing access control alone, however, cannot fully protect content providers' interests, as authorized users may later become traitors that illegally redistribute media content to the public. Such realistic threat should have been seriously treated yet is largely overlooked in the literature. In this paper, we initiate the first study on secure media sharing with fair traitor tracing in the encrypted cloud media center, through a new marriage of proxy re-encryption (for secure media sharing) and fair watermarking (for fair traitor tracing). Our key insight is to fully leverage the homomorphic properties residing in proxy re-encryption to embrace operations in fair watermarking. Two protocols are proposed for different application scenarios. We also provide complexity analysis for performance, showing that our work can also be treated as secure outsourcing of fair watermarking, and thus kills two birds with one stone. We thoroughly analyze the security strengths and conduct extensive experiments to validate the effectiveness of our design.

Peneliti melihatproduksi informasi BPPTKG berfokus di media center. Media center memiliki tiga divisi, yaituclearing house, content production, dan buzzer. Tugas mereka adalah mengonstruksi informasiuntuk masyarakat agar informasi yang disebarkan mudah dipahami. Hasil penelitian ini jugamelihat bahwa BPPTKG telah menjadi institusi kebencanaan yang memiliki keterbukaan informasi.Namun demikian, hal tersebut kurang didukung dengan adanya kebijakan internal mengenaiketerbukaan informasi terkait produksi konten media sosial.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the difference in staff opinion between the staff room and the common space in the combined elementary and Junior high schools. The differences were “the ...number and place of meetings” in the staff room, “dynamic and static use” in the Media Center, and “content of activities” in the multi-purpose room (Learning Space). In the plan for the combined elementary and Junior high schools, it is necessary to plan a space that satisfies the opinions of both sides because these differences of opinion are likely to arise.
The explosive growth of multimedia contents, especially videos, is pushing forward the paradigm of cloud-based media hosting today. However, the wide attacking surface of the public cloud and the ...growing security awareness from the society are both calling for data encryption before outsourcing to cloud. Under the circumstance of encrypted videos, how to still preserve all the service benefits of cloud media center remains to be fully explored. In this paper, we present a secure system architecture design as our initial effort toward this direction, which bridges together the advancements of video coding techniques and secure deduplication. Our design enables the cloud with the crucial deduplication functionality to completely eliminate the extra storage and bandwidth cost, which would have been incurred by hosting encrypted videos from different entities. The design is also carefully tailored to the scalable video coding (SVC) techniques to support heterogeneous networks and devices for high-quality adaptive video dissemination. We show fully functional system implementations with structure-aware encryption design and structure-aware deduplication strategies that are both completely compliant with the video format in SVC. Extensive security analysis and experiments via our prototype deployed on Azure cloud platform show the practicality of the design. Our work can also be easily extended to support other media applications that employ media files with scalable structures.

Kota Dumai merupakan salah satu penerima bantuan periferal media center dari Kemkominfo pada tahun 2015. Awal tahun 2017, Bagian Kominfo Sekretariat Daerah Kota Dumai dibentuk berdasarkan Peraturan ...Walikota. Alhasil, pengelolaan media center yang sebelumnya menjadi tugas Dinas Perhubungan Kota, dialihkan ke Bagian Kominfo. Artikel ini mengkaji tantangan media center dari aspek kelembagaannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Data primer diperoleh dari wawancara empat narasumber kunci yang terlibat dalam pengelolaan media center ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pimpinan daerah belum sepenuhnya memfokuskan perhatian pada kegiatan pemerintahan yang sifatnya konkuren. Tantangan utama pengelolaan media center adalah keterbatasan status lembaga, anggaran, hingga sumber daya manusia. Rekomendasi penelitian ini di antaranya adalah peningkatan status Bagian Kominfo menjadi Dinas Kominfo Tipe B dan adanya intervensi pemerintah pusat untuk keberlangsungan program ini.

The results of the project “Library of a new generation in creative university” within the framework of the federal project “Creative People”, carried out at the Kemerovo State Institute of Culture ...in the direction of “Library and information activities” in terms of software and hardware implementation, are presented. Goals and objectives of the project were the following: creation of a comfortable environment for students, organization of an accessible environment for servicing people with disabilities, implantation of RFID systems, digital technologies for the formation of digital competencies of students and improvement of the digital information environment of the institute. The software and hardware, the results of their operation are considered. The practical results of the project implementation are outlined: the introduction of new services on the library bases, promotional events, publications in professional editions, the inclusion of the elective “VR-design” in the curriculum, the formation of digital content (electronic library of music publications, 3D modeling), the transfer of the library fund to RFID technology. Project prospects are shown: experiments in the field of work with information support of science and education, the formation of an open information space, including the work with new types of data; enriching the educational experience of students by creating a rich educational environment in physical and virtual space.
This study examines videos produced by the al-Hayat Media Center, a branch of the Islamic State’s (IS) larger media campaign aimed more specifically at Western audiences. Using a thematic analysis ...approach, recurring themes of 10 al-Hayat videos were identified with conclusions made regarding the specificities of the message and the target audience. It was found that al-Hayat videos cater to potential Western recruits and sympathizers by portraying life in the IS as spiritually and existentially fulfilling, while simultaneously decrying the West as secular, immoral, and criminal. By utilizing well-produced propaganda videos that tap into the dissatisfactions of Western Muslims, al-Hayat was shown to deliver a sophisticated and legitimate message that may play a role in the larger radicalization process.
