With the continual expansion of network in military fields, traditional military organizations are confronted by new challenges. There is a great need to explore new theories and models to perform ...dynamic network analysis for Networked Military Organizations (NMOs). We propose a notion of Matter Network Model (MNM) for NMOs, which can be regarded as the infrastructure of modeling and analyzing for complex NMOs. It is the first time that the model of mechanisms is put forward and formalized in complex NMOs. Importantly, Markov Logic Network (MLN) theory is embedded into MNM, which is used to transform NMOs into Markov networks. Embedded with MLN, MNM has the abilities to inference, and even with the uncertain information. Moreover, an analysis model of MNM is put forward, which includes the analysis framework, analysis process model and inference algorithm of MNM. The work of the paper shows promise as an effective interface of dynamic network analysis for NMO, which can be regarded a complete analysis framework for networked military organizations or be integrated other applications for networked systems ..
This article documents a study of an organization's cultural readiness for successful implementation of a store-and-forward telemedicine system in a military health care environment. The study ...focused on the organization's cultural attributes that reflect its learning propensity and thereby its capability to adapt effectively and utilize the new technology. Results suggest that the organization did not possess the most favorable attributes for the utilization of a new technology, and the utilization of the new system was significantly lower than expected during the first 6 months of implementation.
The United States Navy deploys medical personnel throughout the world. The ability to deliver a high level of health care in any situation must be offset by practical and versatile medical platforms. ...In September 2003, the US Navy deployed the first Expeditionary Medical Facility to Djibouti, Africa. The early experience of working with the Expeditionary Medical Facility format is described.
This paper describes the reconnaissance function for the siting of deployable field hospitals. It reports two levels of reconnaissance, theatre/operational and tactical. The paper describes the ...factors to be considered when conducting the reconnaissance and the format of the reconnaissance report.
The focus of this case study was the escalating use of specialty beds at a large military medical center. Members of a multidisciplinary task force looked at current use of specialty beds, clinical ...appropriateness of past decisions regarding use of these beds, and education of staff members. They concluded that specialty beds were being ordered randomly from multiple vendors without the benefit of sound clinical decision making. The task force narrowed the types of beds used from 16 to only 7, limited the number of primary bed vendors to two and placed them under contract, educated staff regarding proper selection of specialty beds, and established a protocol specifying WOC nurses and physicians as responsible personnel for ordering specialty beds. These efforts resulted in a marked decline in the use of specialty beds, better patient clinical outcomes, and a sizable cost reduction.
Infection prevention in medical organizations is an essential task to ensure quality of medical care and create a safe environment for patients and medical staff. The main task of a specialist of ...medical and preventive profile in the hospital is to maintain sanitary and epidemiological safety and control fulfillment of a complex of preventive measures. To achieve these goals specialists monitor epidemiological and microbiological fulfilment of the implementation and effectiveness of preventive measures, which allow to except infection entry to the hospital and possible carrying out beyond the hospital, occurrence and spread of disease. An obligatory activity of the specialist of medical and preventive profile in the hospital is a scientific and methodical work. The authors propose adoption of preventive structural subdivisions to the state largest diversified military hospitals.
