(Burrington-Brown et al., 2005, p.4) Government agencies along with non-profit organizations, such as the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), concur with this definition adding ...that the ability for consumers to manage, maintain and interact with their health information in a secure, private and confidential environment is equally important (Office of the National Coordinator for Information Technology, 2013; Kurtz, 2013). To increase PHR adoption, more effort has to be taken to understand the concerns and needs of the consumer. ...the purpose of this literature review is to explore consumer perspectives of the PHR. A literature review was conducted to explore customer perspectives of PHRs and the following themes were identified: features, usability, communication, digital divide, medical terminology, privacy and security.
A personal health record (PHR) system is a smart health system that serves patients and doctors. A PHR is usually stored in a cloud and managed by a semitrusted cloud provider. However, there is ...still a possibility of the exposure of personal health information to semitrusted parties and unauthorized users. To protect the privacy of patients and ensure that patients can control their PHRs, a patient-centric PHR sharing framework is proposed in this article. In this framework, all PHRs are protected with multiauthority attribute-based encryption before outsourcing, which solves the key hosting problem and achieves fine-grained access control to PHRs. Furthermore, an anonymous authentication between the cloud and the user is proposed to ensure data integrity on the cloud while not exposing the user's identity during authentication. The proposed authentication is issued from a new online-offline attribute-based signature. It can make the encrypted PHRs resist collusion attacks and not be forged during the period of sharing, which enhances patients' control of their PHRs. Online-offline and outsourcing decryption also reduces calculation costs and improves operational efficiency. Finally, comparisons are given based on numerical experiments.
Patients sometimes experience complex diagnostic and treatment procedures. During these processes, they need to rely on the information provided by the care providers. In particular, if they would ...like to play an active role in the shared decision-making process, it is important that this information is accessible, complete and understandable. A patient with Lentigo Maligna on the nose has been followed during the process of diagnosis, shared decision-making and treatment. Using the autoethnographical methodology, it was evaluated which sources of information available to the patient contributed to a better understanding, a more active role in the treatment process and a positive experience. Possible improvements are suggested. Capacity Empowerment Program for Vocational High School Personnel is one part of the sosial corporate responsibilty (CSR) of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) in partnership with the PCR. This program is ...in order to support the strengthening of the vocational ecosystem in Riau Province which is in line with Governor Regulation Number 6 of 2022 concerning strengthening vocational education and training through partnerships with Industry, Business, and the World of Work. Capacity Empowerment Program for Vocational High School Personnel is packaged in the form of training and Microsoft Office certification. Through this program, it is hoped can support strengthening governance in vocational education units. A total of 144 people from 42 vocational schools signed up for this program. After going through the selection process, 26 participants from 25 vocational schools were selected. The series of programs run according to the planned schedule. Feedback on the program indicated that participants experienced increased knowledge and skills regarding Microsoft Office. All training participants were also declared competent in the Junior Office Operator scheme and received a certificate from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).
AIMS:Patient held records are becoming more commonly used in healthcare, particularly in chronic diseases like glaucoma. There is a lack of evidence to support their use, however. This study examines ...the change in knowledge scores within a group following the introduction of a newly designed glaucoma logbook.
METHODS:This analysis uses a test and retest method where patients undergoing treatment for glaucoma or ocular hypertension were assessed using a validated knowledge questionnaire. They were then given a personalised glaucoma logbook and their knowledge scores retested after 4-8 weeks. The change in knowledge score was examined using a Wilcoxon signed-rank test.
RESULTS:A total of 56 patients were recruited and 35 completed both questionnaires equating to a 62.5% retention rate. The analysis showed a significant increase in the knowledge score attained following introduction of the questionnaire (Z=−4.176, P<0.001).
CONCLUSIONS:In this format, the glaucoma logbook has a positive impact on patient knowledge. Further research will be necessary to show if this result is maintained in a larger sample group and to investigate whether this improvement in knowledge is associated with any improvement in long-term structural and functional outcomes.
MYB-CC transcription factors (TFs) are essential for plant growth and development. Members of the MYB-CC subfamily with long N terminal domains, such as phosphate starvation response 1 (PHR1) or ...PHR1-like TFs, have well documented functions, while those with short N terminal domains remain less understood. In this study, we identified a nodule specific MYB-CC transcription factor 1 (
) in soybean that is different from other canonical PHR family genes in that
harbors a short N terminal ahead of its MYB-CC domain and was highly induced by rhizobium infection. The overexpression of
dramatically increased the ratio of deformed root hairs, enhanced subsequent soybean nodulation, and promoted soybean growth in pot experiments. The growth promotion effects of
overexpression were further demonstrated in field trails in which two
lines yielded 10.78% and 8.19% more than the wild type line. Transcriptome analysis suggested that
overexpression led to global reprogramming, with 749 genes upregulated and 279 genes downregulated, especially for genes involved in MYB transcription factor activities, root growth, and nutrient acquisition. Taken together, we conclude that
is a key gene involved in the global regulation of nodulation, root growth, and nutrient acquisition in soybeans, and is thus a promising candidate gene to target for soybean yield enhancement.
Abstract
In this study, eight rap-related genes were found in the Bacillus cereus 0–9 genome; five rap genes were located on chromosomes and three on large plasmids. A total of five Rap proteins in ...B. cereus 0–9 were annotated as ‘tetratricopeptide repeat proteins’. SMART Server analysis showed that the eight Rap proteins had typical tetrapeptide repeat sequence (TPR) domains. Biofilm assays and crystal violet staining showed that overexpression of the rapp1 and rap5 genes affected the biofilm formation of B. cereus 0–9, and the activities of Rapp1 and Rap5 proteins were inhibited by their corresponding cognate Phr, suggesting that the Rap–Phr quorum sensing (QS) system might also exist in the B. cereus 0–9 strain. In addition, overexpression of rap1 genes inhibited in the extracellular amylase decomposition capacity of B. cereus 0–9. The results of the sporulation assay indicated that overexpression of the eight rap genes inhibited the spore formation of B. cereus 0–9 to varying degrees. These results provide a reference for research on the regulation of the Rap–Phr QS system in B. cereus.
The Rap–Phr system in B. cereus 0–9 was identified, and the functions of some Rap–Phr systems were determined. The Rap–Phr quorum sensing existed in B. cereus 0–9.
While access and adoption issues related to online health management tools (OHMT) have been studied in healthcare contexts, questions remain about whether and how their use impacts patients’ ...perceptions of healthcare. Drawing on technology affordance and media synchronicity frameworks, we explore how the existence of multiple chronic conditions (MCC) and differences in usage patterns due to a patient’s generation impact these relationships. Utilizing HINTS data, this study provides empirical support for a positive relationship between the utilization of electronic personal health records (e-PHRs) and healthcare quality perceptions, albeit with a caveat that patients with greater healthcare needs as well as millennial and younger generations do not seem to enjoy the same benefits from increased use of e-PHRs. Furthermore, asynchronous patient-provider electronic communication is yet to achieve positive perceptions of better healthcare quality for most users. This research bears implications for the personalization and customization of OHMT to account for variations in patient’s healthcare needs and usage patterns.
