This article is an attempt at the analysis of the relationship between trans feminine fantasies of extreme, sadomasochistic objectification in sexual relations, and social means of the production of ...gender. Using mixed methods (literary analysis, autotheory, and feminist critique) it situates the problem of sadomasochism and trans femininity within the context of patriarchal gender norms, but also within the context of the desire to embody these norms as a form of a gender affirmation. Rejecting trans-exclusionary proposals, it suggests the possibility to understand the trans feminine romance with objectification as an intentional strategy for seizing the means of the production of gender. However, to understand those strategies, one must look beyond frameworks which portray agency as being founded on a complete exclusion of submissiveness.
In this study, the concept of acculturation originating from globalization and global human mobility has been evaluated, especially within the framework of the social anthropology discipline. By ...emphasizing the definition and history of the concept of acculturation, the relationship between the concept and anthropology has been tried to be explained. Moreover, The phenomenon of acculturation in terms of immigration and immigrants is discussed, and examples of acculturation that occur due to human cultural contact in tourism and travel organizations in various geographies are given. Again, within the acculturation framework, the concepts of assimilation, voluntary assimilation, syncretism, ethnic identity, and culture shock were also discussed, and human relations and social behaviors that emerged due to acculturation were reviewed. In recent years, studies on understanding acculturation processes in a scientific sense have also made great strides. Most of the research on acculturation to date has prioritized the attitudes and preferences of minority groups. Adaptation of minorities to dominant cultures, interculturality, multiculturalism, social diversity, and the ethnic difference has recently had an important place in social studies. As a result of the contact of societies or cultures, acculturation phenomenon or cultural change can occur either in a culture or in each culture that comes into contact. And generally, after acculturation processes, individuals behavior, attitude, cognition, personality, language, relationship, and cultural orientation may be affected, and changed or syncretic structures may occur.

Traditional African pastoral tribes face the challenge of new phenomena of social character. In this article, the authors discuss the case of Umoja – the ‘only women’s village’ in Samburu County ...(Kenya) and the life situation of its residents (women, children). Informal interviews and in situ observations conducted in October 2021 as well as the relevant publications, were the main sources of information on the functioning of this women-only settlement. The socio-cultural phenomenon of Umoja combines two dilemmas: the first concerns the life of Umoja residents, the need to provide them with living conditions and personal development (education, health), and the second reveals the participation of the village’s activities in the idea of women’s emancipation and empowerment through the development of contacts of Umoja women with the ‘outside world’. Although transformation of Umoja daily life into a tourist product (commodification) provides its residents with the means of income, the Umoja women’s resistance act to the status of women in the Samburu community aims at a change in values in this traditional tribal culture.

This article aims to reveal characteristics and major currents of sociology of culture in Japan. In recent years, sociology of culture has received a great deal of scholarly attention, reaching out ...to growing numbers of students and researchers. With the backdrop of this burgeoning field, it is no exaggeration to say that we are now entering an “age of sociology of culture.” One prominent characteristic of sociology of culture lies in the breadth of its research subjects and perspectives. In comparison to other fields of sociologies, sociology of culture does not merely focus on a specific area in society, but rather, it attempts to delve into society as a whole through culture.The term “culture” can be understood in a narrow and broad sense. The former sees culture observed in everyday life, such as popular culture and mass culture, while the latter embraces a broader perspective on society, ranging from lifestyle in general to social structures, to such civilizations as the Japanese or Western culture. In this sense, sociology of culture is an approach that serves to understand thedynamism articulated between cultures in both senses.From this perspective, sociology of culture in Japan has undergone four major stages of change. The first stage was the period of emergence in the prewar era. It was followed by the period of development until the period of rapid economic growth in postwar Japan. It was a time when several sociologists, conducted important research on mass culture while refining their own theoretical perspectives, which remains influential today. The third stage was the stabilized period wherein sociology of culture became more prevalent. Now, sociology of culture is in its fourth stage.

The purpose of the article is to carry out the reception of M. Weber's concept in the genesis context of the cultural researches field. The methodology of the research consists of using analysis, ...synthesis, comparison, generalization, as well as hermeneutical and historical approaches. Scientific novelty. Defining the role of the theoretical M. Weber's heritage and the attempt to classify the concepts of Weberianism in the context of the transformation of the cultural researches field. Conclusions. The article analyses the historical context of the German Humanities at the transition from the 19th century to the 20th century as a background of Weber's interest in the cultural sciences and his focus on methodological individualism in the differentiation logic of the social and the cultural. A classification of the basic representative’s works of Weberian studies (M. McKinon, F. Reis, W. Schlützer) and Weberianism (M. Walzer, J. Pitts), who studied and developed M. Weber's ideas about cultural understanding, is provided. In particular, the meaning and basic interpreting strategies of the Modern particularity and the role of his version of cultural autonomy are explained.
The paper discusses the phenomenon of Americanization of European universities in a historical perspective, referring to the critical comparison of higher education in Germany and the United States, ...conceived by Max Weber after the experience of his stay at American universities in 1904. In accordance with the subject and goal, the paper is divided into several thematic units that include the historical context of European university development, defining the research question, the historical and theoretical context (his trip to the International Congress of Arts and Sciences in St. Louis and defining two of Weber's key theoretical concepts (rationalization and bureaucratization) which are necessary for understanding his analysis of higher education), consideration of Weber's most important work on this topic (Wissenschaft als Beruf), and presentation of the conclusions of our analysis. The paper provides an overview of Weber's comparison of two university models: (a) the American model, which he sees as market-oriented, democratized and meritocratic, and (b) the German model, which he sees as critical, holistic and humanistic. Despite the prevailing opinion in modern Weberology that Weber was an apologist of the way in which American higher education works, in this paper we try to show that Weber in his deliberations offered a far more balanced view of the situation at universities in the two countries (United States and Germany), and that he managed to show different aspects, i.e. the advantages and disadvantages of these two, in many respects different, models of higher education and academic communities derived from them. Although the paper deals with a part of Max Weber's legacy and in that sense with a discussion that is part of the history of sociological ideas, the basic ideas that Weber argues in it have not lost their relevance in contemporary discussions on higher education reform in Europe.

It argues that the same conflict is being rec-reated today through identity discourses and so called “cancel culture”.
