The author's approach is a retrospective ...review of factors and factors that led to the synthesized nature of Ukrainian culture during its development, especially in connection with its state in the conditions of existence in other states and interethnic cross-cultural communications that took place in Ukrainian history. Methods of research. The main method of research was a systematic analysis, the use of which allowed us to comprehensively aсеsess the relationship of various ethnic elements in the functioning of Ukrainian culture, considered in its historical space-time. In the course of presenting the material, Ukrainian culture was characterized in terms of consideration in its historical segment of the interaction of various ethnocultural functional communicative elements. The conclusions of the study are projective in terms of identifying trends in the field of interpretation of inter-ethnic cultural communications in the field of modern methodology of humanitarian knowledge. It is determined that intercultural communications acquired a special status during Ukraine's independence when works were published in which Ukrainian ethnography, ethnology, ethnocultural studies, etc. were synthesized with world studies that reveal the genesis and functioning of inter-ethnic cultural communications.
The article concerns the issue of socio‑cultural determinants of innovation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the aim of the article is to identify the factors that are responsible for ...increasing the chances of innovation during the fight against the SARS‑CoV-2 virus. The starting point for the analysis is the statement on the multidimensional, also axiological, determinants of innovation. This statement enables the diagnosis of the chances of pandemic innovation not only in a pragmatic context, but also taking into account its ethical dimension. The result of the analysis is the definition of the “anatomy” of innovation (as a concept) and an indication of the opportunities and dangers of the pandemic innovation. The final result of the analysis is presented in the form of 10 related theses. The basis for their formulation is the sociological theory of innovation, which leads to the final recommendation. It is an incentive to see the non‑material dimension of innovation, which enables the appropriate design of innovation policies in times of crisis.
While multiculturalism is a political precondition for the legal guarantee and protection of minority groups, interculturality implies the establishment of relations between individuals or groups ...belonging to different cultures with the belief that human experience is enriched and developed through cultural contacts. In order for a person to understand other cultures, s/he must first of all know their own culture, which means language, religion, values, beliefs, norms and worldviews. Thus, current debates are particularly aimed at seeking an adequate relationship between modern nation-states and ethnic and national minorities that are either domiciled or new to their territories are of particular importance. Moreover, the solution is sought in intercultural communication as the next step that would embrace multicultural assumptions and lead individuals to respect their own and other cultures through the intercultural exchange that would be the final, desirable product of intended policies. The paper presents some of the assumptions for intercultural communication that help improve an interactive relationship with people and/or other cultural groups. The need to discuss these concepts lies in circumstances in which they cannot be ignored in the modern world, primarily because it is not possible to return to a time when groups with different cultural and identity backgrounds will no longer be interested in representing their diversity.

Sivas Ilbeyli Turkmens, a branch of the İlbeyli tribe, which is thought to be connected to the Bayat, Alkırevli (Alka-evli) and Afşa tribes, live in 42 villages located in the southwest of Sivas ...between Sivas Şarkışla and in the center of Sivas. The region called Ilbeyli region, where Sivas Ilbeyli Turkmen live, does not have an official status, but is a geography whose borders are determined by its cultural and demographic structure. Ilbeyi Turkmens, who made this geography their homeland, whose borders were drawn with discourses such as "Kavlak at the top, Yanalak at the bottom", continue to maintain their musical culture in the perspective of authenticity, as in all their cultural phenomena. The word "avaz" is used to express music in Sivas İlbeyli Turkmens. In this study, the concept of "avaz" used in the region has been explained, and the melodies known by the avaz source people in the region have been compiled and notated. It has been seen that laments and halays, which are in a dominant position in the local music culture, are more common than other forms, and since the volume of the study will exceed the limits of the article, restrictions have been made in the examples given. The study was carried out in order to make a structural and cultural analysis on the local music through field research. The study was carried out in the perspective of the discipline of Ethnomusicology, in order to culturally and formally examine and analyze the music, which is a musical representation of the collective memory of the Ilbeyli region, to create a scientific source and to reveal social and cultural perspective. With this study, while investigating İlbeyli music, the communities in Sivas Ilbeyli geography with Ilbeyli music culture were examined and their musical identities were tried to be revealed, conceptualized and a discourse on these musics was tried to be established. In this research, data collection techniques (observation, interview, recording, analysis and compilation) in "ethnographic research", which are among the qualitative methods, were used, and the relevant literature was searched for an in-depth investigation of İlbeyli music culture with literature review and historical research techniques.
The study analyses the morphological structure, semantics and contemporary uses of the neologism kaszotto ‘kashotto’ created in Polish by analogy to the Italianism risotto. The hybrid word-formation ...structured as a semi-calque reveals that the Polish culinary lexicon is being enriched not only through the transfer of Italian terminology or with lexical innovations such as pseudo-Italianisms. The assimilation of Italian cultural and linguistic elements also occurs as a structural and semantic remodelling of the foreign pattern in order to accommodate it to the realities of Polish culture. As illustrated by real examples of use, the new word pattern is replicated. On the sidelines of our linguistic discussion, we propose reflections on the mass reception of Italian culture and the experience of Italianity in today’s Poland, as well as on the semiotic potential of linguistic means carrying information about Italianity in the verbal communication of Polish speakers.
The sudden appearance of a term imported from across the Atlantic - almost unknown until a few months ago - is spectacular. Cancel culture started with a noble goal, at least on the surface: to ...suppress those who make racist, homophobic speeches or promote any kind of hatred against a person. During the COVID-19 pandemic, cancel culture began trending again. This concept was made possible with the emergence of the Black Lives Matter, #MeToo and LGBTQ+ movements which were over-promoted on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Each movement uses its own definition, contradicting the others, sowing confusion, stirring up anger, and contempt. The culture of nullification denies the very notion of truth and leads to extreme polarization in society, resulting in unhealthy violence in debate. These "condemnations" are aimed at university professors, writers, intellectuals, journalists, columnists, producers, actors, and anyone who dares to "offend" certain minorities or the dogmas of certain left-wing circles, even with a left-wing phrase. As a result of this phenomenon of cultural cancellation, books, films, and cartoons have begun to be altered or banned. Journalist, essayist, and researcher Alvaro Vargas Llosa (son of the famous writer Mario Vargas Llosa) believes this practice threatens democracy and is reminiscent of a dictatorship like North Korea.
Poland’s accession to the structures of the European Union initiated the post-accession emigration of Poles, which was characterized by the emergence of new directions for emigration. Great Britain ...has become one of the most popular. An emigration is a significant event in the biography of a person and the whole family. In the light of Agnieszka Bron’s concept (2000, 2006), it is associated with numerous tensions, ambivalence, a sense of helplessness and suspension (the so-called “floating”), and at the same time, it is an educational event. The research aimed to explain the learning process of spouses experiencing emigration. Biographical research was carried out using an autobiographical narrative interview and an analysis of personal documents. Ten marriage dyads staying in a long-term emigration in Great Britain participated in the research. As a result of the study of the empirical material, the following categories of experiences that fit into “floating” were distinguished: surprise/fascination with the reality, sense of loss and loneliness, uncertainty as to the rightness of the decision made, loss of sense of security, attempting to cope with the crisis, choosing a coping strategy and learning. However, not all of the distinguished categories appear in every autobiographical narration. Compared to A. Bron’s concept, the “floating” structure in the biographies studied consists of a more significant number of elements. At the same time, it loses its stages, becomes blurry, and has a mosaic character. Ten strategies for coping with a sense of suspension were also identified, which were high or low orientated toward either: the culture of the host country or the culture of the home country. Most, but not all, of these strategies enhanced recognizing the new culture. Learning from the beginning is perceived as a value and an opportunity to better cope with the crisis experienced in living in new socio-cultural conditions.
The influence of celebrities in politics has long been underestimated in political science and political communications disciplines. This research explores the effectiveness of two types of celebrity ...activism—celebrity advocacy and celebrity endorsements—to determine which type produces broader and more focused media coverage. Through case study analysis, this essay finds that although celebrity advocates and celebrity endorsers generate similarly broad media coverage, celebrity advocates generate media coverage that is more focused on their cause. In addition, by taking into consideration celebrities’ gender, race, and the political leaning of the cause advocated or endorsed by the celebrity, the research finds that all three variables also affect the breadth and the focus of the media coverage, but more quantitative research is required to confirm a causal relationship. This research has important implications for governmental and non-governmental actors engaging with celebrity endorsers and celebrity advocates—while both are equally capable of generating broad media coverage, celebrity advocates are better suited to retaining the focus of the media coverage on the cause, and not themselves.
One of the basic theoretical attitudes of Debray’s mediological theory is deep interdependence of form and content of transmission (communication through time), i.e. carriers of the message and the ...message itself. Starting from that attitude and the hypothesis that change in the carriers of certain elements of cultural memory also leads to the change in its content, we have applied Debray’s analytical model of transmission elements in the analysis of different carriers of cultural memory in Kosovo and Metohija. The aim of the research is to determine necessary changes in the content of transmission process already caused as a consequence of the changed form of transmission, i.e. to detect, by applying the comparative method, whether part of the cultural heritage is lost in that manner or whether new media are suitable carriers of transmission.
